  3. *wonders how to retrieve cowboy boot that was flung at MS*

Who says Texans aren't gourmet chefs? Fried butter.... might as well just stick it on your hips and save the trouble of swallowing!

  4. I have been giving this a great deal of thought and I believe that fried butter would be a wonderful accompaniment to Chupacabra barbecue!

  6. Mr. WWM is becoming annoyed with my repeated attempts to fry coke. He says that pouring coke into the deep fat fryer is ruining the fryer. Men......

  7. I think Texas has outdone the AZ State Fair on this delicacy!

  11. WWM as soon as I trade in all my current jeans for sweat pant XXL, I'm coming to your house for a Chupacabra barbecue and Fried butter!!!! I think you might have more sucess frying coke if you freeze it first then put some sort of breading on it....

  12. I knew this was going to mention the State Fair of Texas before I even read it---sad, huh?

  14. Dang - I KNEW that I wasn't doing it right by just opening the can of coke and pouring it into the hot oil!!!

  15. Ewwww Yuck!! Could this be why I'm so skinny?

    WWM...your a Texas Hoot! lol.

  16. Now, where else but the Texas State Fair will you find fried fat for sale? What is it with Texans and the love affair with fried EVERYTHING? I'm surprised some enterprising Texan hasn't figured out a way to fry air (don't anyone here from Texas get any ideas).

  17. OMG, this makes funnel cakes look like health food!!

  18. Annie, compared to fried butter, an elephant ear might as well be a loaf of artisan 22-grain bread.

Posted 2 years ago by Vicki #

  19. MMMM Vicki, by elephant ear do you mean those flaky pastries that are swirled with puffy layers and sugar? I love those things, yummy

  20. I'm actually surprised this isn't Scottish; we did invent the deep fried mars bar. And we have a very impressive (? scary maybe!) heart disease rates :o.

Posted 2 years ago by metsa #

  21. Metsa, there may be a ton of people of Scottish heritage in Texas; I know there are quite a few people of German descent in New Braunfels (between Austin and San Antonio) and other parts of Texas, and they brought wiener schnitzel to the U.S. We Americans, however, mutated the dish into chicken-fried steak.

  22. OMG, when I saw New Braunfels I just had to chime in....when hubby and I were in the USAF in SATX (mid-late 70's), we loved to go to the yearly Octoberfest in New Braunfels, what a blast!!! You better believe there were some Germans there...the beer and food were just AWESOME. The music and rest of the atmosphere was mega fun too. The rest of the year we went up there to the park by the river for some cheap weekend fun just cooking out and hanging around the water with our fellow airmen and air-women ;o)

  23. Okay, y'all - I am a Texan. Born and bred. Yes, there are parts of Texas with a strong German heritage. Fredericksburg being the most prominent. Texas does not have a notable Scottish heritage, however.

New Braunfels - well, that's all about partying! Texas style.

  24. Yoinks cowboy boot from back of head where it became wedged after arriving suddenly out of the ether. Checks inside and sees it has a WWM label. Guess I know which grouchy Texan flung it at me.
One cowboy boot a-coming back at you WWM. Stand aside or you'll be wearing it too. I wasn't the only one to have the 'only in Texas' thought. LOL

  25. *OUCH!!!!!*

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  26. WWM, you didn't stand aside did you. Sorry if it hurt you.
