thanks to whoever posted this site, I am loving it. Entered Joan Baez (they play related type music) and I just heard the most heart wrenching ballad by Priscilla Herdman, "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" about the Aussies who died at Gallipoli.

I was just thinking the same thing...I believe it was KYKAT that posted the link, but I have been listening to my favorite music since. I started out by entering Sugarland and listened to all my favorite country songs...then entered Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and I have some real energy going now!!!!!

HI Paulajeanne. I saw you answered on the thread asking about you. Thanks. I found the gall bladder surgery to be really fatiguing. I think it is common for that surgery it does go away--it was about 6 months for me and then some days here and there after that.

Hi Sandi! Boy howdy, did it catch me by suprise. Generally, I'm a quick healer, tho this was my first surgery (do tonsils count?) What has suprised me the most is the digestive problem, can't seem to settle on the right combo of stuff to eat. Any suggestions other than broth and jello?

I have to watch how much fat I eat like cheese or richer food made with cream and butter or chocolate. I can eat a little of anything but not a little of everything and certainly not a lot of anything. My Dr explained it all but basically without the gall bladder doing its part in digestion the body has to adapt to doing without it. He told me some people found they couldn't eat tacos and some couldn't eat milkshakes that everyone is different and I would find out what I couldn't do. I think as time has gone by I can eat more than I was at first. The first time I had pizza I was really sick but have been fine with it since. I hope this helps a little. I think dairy fats were the worst for me

trust me nearly 20 years later the digestion thing NEVER gets better. I have had troubles since my gallbladder came out! ugh

Mine was 20 years ago, too, MC. I remember in the beginning I couldn't be far from a bathroom. Fats did it to me. Later on I was able to learn to eat "normally" again. Same thing with the gastric bypass, but that's another story! Probiotics. I swear by 'em (yep, yogurt, but I also supplement with them). Prayers for quick healing. And yes, it took a good 4-6 weeks before I started getting energy back, and heck, I was 24 when I had that operation, so was a young 'un. It kicks butt big time.

I eat a lot of yogurt maybe that helped because mine did get better. Try yogurt, PJ. I like mountain high plain (I know not for everyone) but with fruit added to it or it can be used in smoothies. I'm sure the sweetened is healthful too I just got away from using it

ok, you guys convinced me. Yogurt goes on the grocery list, the probiotic type!

Glad to hear it! You might also want to get supplements to build yourself up, then the yogurt should be enough. I love plain nonfat (used to hate it) and put fresh or frozen fruit in it (if I use frozen I put it in the night before and it defrosts overnight). I also like to add dry oatban to it (really healthy!) and it's like eating ice cream!

Lainey, is there a particular brand of probiotics that you get? Or are they pretty generic? Thanks for the advice!

They are fairly generic. Some that you find in health food stores are refrigerated. I use Nature Made (I take 2 at a time several times a day if I"m on an antibiotic like I am now), otherwise 2-3 times a day. I take more expensive ones occassionally. If i'm not feeling well I'll up them. The good thing to know is that they will never harm you, only do you good! One should always take them if taking antibiotics. Antibiotics kill the good bacteria as well as the bad and probiotics help your body rebuild the good bacteria. Nature made is pretty well priced. My local grocery store often has buy 1 get 1 and Nature Made also has a points system if you sign up on their website. You can get $7 coupons for every 500 points you get. Some brands have different mixes of different bacteria's and some have pre-biotics, also good. You can also google these things and find foods that they naturally occur in (but I always supplement anymore, especially the older I get!). K... back to bed for Lainey... (in the morning when I put a light on I'll see which bacteria Nature Made has in theirs) and see what other info I can find for you. I know, for me, when I don't take them it isn't too long before my belly starts giving me problems. Also since you recently had surgery they will also help in healing (my opinion).

Get the same probiotics as Lainey and I SWEAR by them!
