Austin MCW meet - coordination thoughts

  1. Hi, Everyone! OMG - less than a week to go!!!! I'm so excited that Mr. WWM thinks I'm going to explode!

    Due to the ...err... biggness of our state, could we do a bit of coordination and detail affirmation?

    Lisa, could you please repost the address for Maudie's? Is it the one that is listed on Brodie Lane?

    2:00 pm on Friday, Sept. 11, right?

    Now, this is a big one! Soxsmom and daughter will arrive at the Austin airport around 9:00 am. She would need to verify the exact time. But we aren't meeting for the "official" meet-up until 2:00 pm. Could someone pick up SM and daughter at airport and get hooked up with everyone else in Austin for sightseeing that day? I really want them to see Austin as they are flying all the way in. Mr. WWM and I are driving in that day and so probably won't hit the Austin city limits sign until close to 1:00 pm or later.

    SO looking forward to this!!!

    I know I haven't been blogging much, but I am really looking forward to this weekend.
    I will be driving from Dallas on Fri morning. If anyone needs a ride down, I will be happy to accommodate. In any case, I should be there around noon. Since I'll be staying overnight at the Mariott with KW, I think I will check in first.
    I'll be happy to see everyone. Does anyone know just how many are meeting???

  12. Hi, Bobbiiiiiiiiiiii!!! I'm not sure we can check in until later in the afternoon (3 or 4pm). It looks like from the list of names on the names for name tags thread that we will have about 15 people attending the meetup. There has been some talk of getting together earlier in the day for those who get in at an earlier time. This is like coordinating a small army!! lol I'm really looking forward to meeting you in person. :)

  13. I will pick up SM and daughter and can fit 2 more people in my tiny car. I also suggest anyone here earlier make a trip by amy's ice cream. Its one of the best ice cream places ever

  14. WWM has strongly suggested a visit to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. I looked at the website for the museum. It has an IMAX theater. It will be showing the latest Harry Potter movie for $14.00 for adults and $11.50 for seniors. There are shows at 6pm and 9pm on September 11. Would anyone like to tour the museum and then watch this movie???? (I haven't seen it yet and would love to see it in an IMAX theater. :)

  17. LOL - I suspect that at 6:00 pm we may still be sitting at Maudie's!!! Personally, and this is just me - we can all watch movies at home. But we can't visit with each other often. The more talking and laughing, the better!

  18. KW and I can pickup and meet up as early as she's willing to get up and drive with me to Austin... ;-) I'm thinking we can comfortably be there sometime after 10:00AM, if required; if anyone needs to be picked up, etc. etc. we can pick up too...
    Big Question, where does everyone want to meet, if at all, before the 2PM get together at Maudies?

  19. I just talked to Lauretta, and she is all for spending our limited time together visiting while we can and seeing movies later. But If some people feel strongly about going to see Harry Potter, we don't all have to stay together.

    Would as many people as possible forward their itineraries and cell phone numbers to my email box? I want to put together one document that sort of lists everyone's arrivals and departures with contact info.

    my email is lisa_mccafferty at sbcglobal dot net. I know this seems slightly redundant info, but it will really help me make sure everyone gets included in everything that might come up, and make sure everyone's needs are met to the best of my ability. If I can get everything you need, I can at least hook you up with someone who can!

  21. I am about to 'splode! Can't believe that we're really going to see each other! I've packed everything 300 times, done the laundry, cleaned the house, finished up on the nametags, repacked, hauled Ruggles out of the tote bag, done the dishes, fished Rotley out of my purse and pulled my wallet away from him, and lost my car keys 16 times. All in one evening!

    Sooooo looking forward to visiting with you sweet people! Maybe by the time we see each other I will have recovered the remnants of my mind.

  22. I'm in Vancouver, Washington at my mom's house. I get at sparrow fart to catch a plane to San Antonio to play for a couple of days with Kittymom, then on to Austin Friday morning. Yippeeeeeee!

    I agree with you, WWM, this trip is about spending time with each other, not movie-watching so I am ready to go with the flow to maximize our time together in Austin. :)

  23. I think my boyfriend and I can make it to Austin. I don't know if we can make it by 2 p.m. Friday (I have class at 10 a.m.). I need someone to e-mail me the information about where the get-together is, what hotel y'all are staying at, that sort of thing, before I can make a final decision (I also have to get my act together and get some homework done!). (I've lost track of all that data in the information overload that is my life these days.)

  27. If this meet-up is like the California one I went to, all I can say is that we'll be at Maudies for a LONG time!! Not only did we stay in the restaurant for a few hours, it took us 2 or 3 more hours to get from the front of the restaurant to our cars! The conversations never ended!
