  1. Just here real quick to say Morning to the family! Had a nice cuddle with Hermes this morning, and I'll be on the road to Cleveland in an hour or so :-)

  2. Hi everyone - happy labor day! Went to a cookout yesterday and the day before. Today I want to stay home and shift the clothes in my closet. Summer's over and school will be back in session tomorrow so no more jeans & t-shirts & flip-flops!

  3. Good morning all!!!
It's cloudy and 63 degrees here today. Yesterday was just lovely... sun and clouds and perfect for a picnic. It was neat as I met quite a few "cat lovers" there and shared about TDK, but only one actually got the link. Was fun chatting with them. I took a choc pudding pie which was a big hit and a box of those tiny frozen Belgium cream puffs. Mmmmmm..... Someone brought a big fruit tart as well. Everyone had a lovely time. It was actually a "dulcimer jam" get together. But, there were other instruments as well. Fiddle, banjos, guitars, bowed psaltry, wooden flute, hammered dulcimers and bass violin. The music was so lovely flowing from the old blacksmith shop. The neighbor lady, now 90 came over to eat supper with us and listen to the music. She is just a dear old soul and a whip at that age! What a cutie! I gave her a hug and kiss when she left. I have seen her there in years past as well. :)I just adore elder people.

    What are everyones plans today?

  4. Hi Siobhan..have a safe trip and I will see you tomorrow!!
Hi Bumblebee! That picnic sounds like fun. The music sounds great!
Nothing major here today, we were busy all weekend. I think today is a normal day of chores and hopefully tonight go out to dinner with MCW

  5. Morning, all!

CM, MCW is actually flying out of Newark, the same airport she flew into, on her trip back to England, so I *might* get to see her again (we're investigating whether it makes sense for her to spend the night in NJ as her flight goes out pretty early). I agree, though, she's probably going to sleep all the way home to England! What a blast she's having :)

  6. Morning Kilroy! That would be nice if you can see her one more time before she leaves. She will be knackered for sure after this trip :)
We should take count on how many TDK'ers she met!

  7. Morning all! Just getting ready to hit the road, at Andy's so I'm just popping in to say Jen - see you soon!!! We'll text you when we've got a better idea of arrival time and knackered levels!!

Kilroy, hi, I have investigated hotels at Newark Airport and the Holiday Inn are doing a good deal at $59 - I think I'd be daft not to take it, it will give everyone less hassle and more sleep, and whilst I would LOVE to see you again before I go, have my sensible hat on for this one (it doesn't see daylight very often!!).

  8. Bumblebee, that sounds like fun! It sure was a nice day yesterday. Hi Kilroy! *waiving from the mountain*

  9. MCW - when are you back at Newark?

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  10. *waving back at Joan* How are you doing today?

MCW, I think it really is the most sensible thing, for you more than anything. Of course, by then you're not going to know if you're coming or going, what with time zone changes and whatnot :P

  11. Joan, hi! I land back at Newark on the evening of Tues 15th Sept, about 8ish - then I'm flying back home (sob!!) the next morning at 9ish. Might be time for a late evening drink if you want!

Kilroy, tell me about it! You know how I left my mobile (cell!) on UK time? It's confusing the bejaysus out of me!!! Dorie said she didn't know where I was getting my energy from, let me tell you I am surprising myself! It's just as well my plane's only going as far as London, I'll be so zonked I could have ended up anywhere!!

  12. We are going to go to the zoo today before we break up and part ways. I went to CVS and they are CLOSED today! CLOSED! Not to mention the hotel is OUT of feminine hygiene items! How can that be? The hotel has 18 floors of rooms. Luckily the girl at the front desk has the same "problem" as me and so she gave me a personal item from her purse! God Bless Her!

  13. Good Morning. I am still fighting with a miserable cold so probably won't be doing much today. Today is a dinner for my Dad's 87th birthday but I don't want to take any chance on taking this bug to him because he is so frail. It is supposed to be cold and rainy today but it looks really nice out there.

  14. *pout* I wanna go to the zoo too! I'm glad you got your little problem sorted out, MC; thank goodness for Good Samaritans :)

    Have a great time today!

  15. Good morning my tdk friends and happy labor day! A day off from school and work for me! This rarely happens so I'm loving it. I woke up late, made toast with pumpkin butter and chai tea, and sat on the fire escape to eat it. I love how the mornings are getting a little more crisp now. I just made some blueberry muffins and they are baking in the oven. Feeny is chasing a toy mouse. Taco is napping and his nose is sniffing the air in his sleep; perhaps he smells the muffins. Maybe I'll take a nice walk through the park later. I have a bit of homework to do, but other than that the day is amazingly free and I feel so happy and lucky to have a break. I needed it.

  16. Hi Gini!

I'm so sorry we weren't able to get together with you on Thursday! :( I told MCW that she simply has to come back and stay longer, so we can get to the zillion or so things we didn't get to this time.

I hope you have a great, relaxing day off. Enjoy your boys, and I would definitely vote for a walk in the park, it's so nice out and we've had so little of that this summer.

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  17. Thanks Kilroy! I'm sorry we didn't get to hang out, too :( It's really too bad; I wanted to meet the both of you! Hopefully we'll get the chance to meet up soon, though, and hopefully MCW will come back one day for a longer visit!

  18. Hi all - I'm back from the tennis court. We ddn't play til ten and it was HOT out there!! We played for about an hour and I'm wiped out now!
I think I'm just going to take it easy today. There's tennis to watch on tv and I may go meet my friend at Panera at some point, too.

The boys are being lazy today. Bobby had me up about three times last night, wanting some attention and pets. He comes up in the bed and wakes me up and then hops down on the floor where he stretches out and wants to be petted. If I don't follow him down there for petting, he keeps coming in the bed and meowing at me.

  19. Hi, Everyone - I am back from my bike ride and it is official. I HATE the ^%$^%^&^*&*(^$#%__(***&%$##@#%^&* wind!!!!! ARG!!!!! It was extra horrible this morning. I rode 35 miles but for at least half of it I felt like I was going backwards. I want to move where the wind doesn't blow! Plus, I was attacked by a herd of grasshoppers!!!!!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  20. Oh no, a grasshopper attack!!!!
Biking in the wind is no fun - I used to do that all the time when I biked everywhere - I'd get so worn out, I'd have to stop and throw up :( (sorry, TMI)
Other tthan that, how are you doing, WWM?

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  21. Wow, Joan, that must have been bad :) That's a lot of bleeping. I'm amazed at how far you ride, though. The farthest Mike & I do is from 28th St. up to 125th; so about 100 blocks or 5 miles one way.

ETA: Yikes, GD! I'm glad you don't have to bike quite so much now.

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  22. Wow WWM that is a lot of exercise! Random fact about me: I just learned how to ride a bike this summer. I never rode as a kid! I'm okay now; I can ride but I get nervous when I have to turn

Posted 2 years ago by gini #

  23. Eeeewww, GD - at least I don't do that! And I'm doing great! We're trying to decide if we're going to go to El Paso in a couple of weeks to do the Chili Pepper Challenge, but I'm not sure. It's a 50 mile ride and it may be a bit too early for Mr. WWM. He started off with me today but peeled off early and came home.

Gini, I get a little nervous turning, too. So I just slow way down. I think it's great that you have learned to ride!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  24. You'd do great in the race, WWM! You've been practicing a lot. I hope Mr. WWM is up to full speed again soon - I'm sure you're taking excellent care of him!

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  25. Oh, it's not a race! Only a ride. You can do 32, 50, 66 or 100 miles. I was obsessed with racing when I was a runner and I don't ever plan to get into that mentality on a bike.

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  26. A race, a ride - doesn't matter - just participating and completing the ride would be awesome!

I just finished watching elanie Oudin win her match against Petrove - that girl is quite the little scrapper - great tennis! Now I'm watching my boy Federer!

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  27. I'm really impressed with Oudin, GD. And of course I'm cheering for Roger! :)

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  28. That was quite a comeback today! I thought she was done. And I can't stand Petrova, so I was thrilled!
Go Roger!!! Did you tell him hi from me when you went to the match the other day?

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  29. Of course we did, GD :)

I just realized that I called WWM Joan a couple of posts ago - duh! Apologies to both of those lovely ladies. No excuse, I'm just a space case.

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  30. Go Roger! (he just took the first set)
