  6. {{{{{Gini}}}}} I am so sorry for the sadness in your life right now. Do not be critical of yourself for living your life and not having the finances to do all the things you wish you could. Your Grandmother understands your circumstances and knows she is in your heart. You and your family are in my prayers.

  13. Thanks for thinking of me and for keeping my family in your prayers. Grandma was taken off life support a little while ago. It is getting harder and harder for her to breathe. Mom and Grandpa went to the funeral home today to make arrangements. Pray that her passing will be an easy, non stressful one and she goes peacefully. Thank you.

  18. Gini may she suffer little and go peacefully. Also may you know that she is surrounded by love, and in the end to be with family and friends that love you is the very best. Prayers of strength, peace, and comfort be with you. Hugs--I so wish there was something healing that I could say. Please know you are loved.

  19. I know how hard this is for you, ginirosaru, and it will be hard for the rest of your family, especially your grandfather. One thing that will help all of you is to think about how your grandmother would have felt if you had been able to show her 15 years ago where she would be today.

My mother-in-law has Alzheimer's. She was a vibrant, active and intelligent woman. She would have hated the way she has become. Her death, when it comes, will be bittersweet, as will your grandma's passing.

She'll always live within you, and where ever she goes, she'll always know you loved her.

  21. Big hugs for you Gini. As others have said, don't feel guilty that you couldn't be with your grandma as she transitions to the Other Side. Alzheimer's robs our loved ones of their memories long before the body passes on. My only aunt, my dad's sister, has Alzheimer's and she can no longer recognize him or her husband. You did what you could when you could, and your grandma knows that. I hope her passing is peaceful, and she will soon be without pain.

  22. This has been such a hard week on everyone. Grandma is somehow still alive and hanging in there. It's been 5 days now since they stopped giving her food and took out the life support. They give her water on a spongue since she can't swallow. The doctors thought she was going to pass Tues or Wed. It makes me worry that they aren't doing the right thing. What if she wasn't ready to go yet? What if she could have made it? I went to my mom's empty house today to feed the chinchilla and I'm baking her lasagna muffins and cookies for when she gets home. They bought the plot of land for her grave and visit her at the hospital every day. It's getting harder and harder for her to breathe. It just seems so inhumane to me that she is still alive after 5 days of suffering in the hospital off life support. I have such mixed feelings. I want her to pass so her suffering can stop. I also want the hospital to realize maybe she could make it and give her food and an operation for her brain swell. Poor grandpa and mom are a wreck visiting the hospital all the time and barely sleeping and eating all week. I want to be there for them so badly....

  24. Gini I am so very sorry. I was in your spot once and it is so very difficult. I wish I could give you sound advice. All I knew is that your grandmother and your mother both know that you are there with them and that you love them. Your strength will help you guide everyone through this terrible time. Continued prayers of strength and peace. Gini I wish I could hug you and say it will be okay. Please know you and your family are in my prayers.

  28. OH Gini! How sad and painful. I was in the very same spot when my dad died. He was on life support and we took him off. The docs said he would die within the hour and he hung on for almost twelve hours. Considering he was brain dead, it was agonizing. Then my mom started questioning if he was brain dead, if we should hook him back up. Please as hard as it is, make peace with your Grandma, her memory and the choices that have been made. 9 years later I have not and it is very painful. Sending hugs your way, know that we are all here for you.
