Daily Household mistakes we make?

(7 posts)
  1. Okay my story probably could have been avoided if I used some old fashioned common sense. But it happened, so obviously I did not.

There was a big lot of laundry I have been doing, and I was doing the ironing at this point, And as I was ironing a singlet top off mine, I noticed that the fabric stuck to the iron, Being worried I pulled it away I realized at this point that this item of clothing was never meant to be ironed at all. Because The fabric remained stuck to the iron then I noticed that it had melted to the iron, and then it tore away from the rest of the singlet, leaving a big iron shaped hole in the singlet top. And then I saw bits off this item of clothing was melted to the iron. Now I have the task of getting all that icky stuff off.

Who ever makes these kinds of mistakes doing house work? I know this time is not my first, And not my last lol.

  2. That's nothing compared to me attempting to make coffee one afternoon when I was half-asleep.

I went in to the kitchen and lifted the top of the coffee maker to remove the basket. In my half asleep state, I did not think to put the filter into the basket, and started to put coffee grounds into it. Just as I had the scoop of coffee positioned over the coffee maker, it suddenly registered that something wasn't right, and the word "STOP" popped into my head.

In my confused state of mind, I stood there with the scoop hovering over the coffee maker, and for some unknown reason, I emptied the scoop of coffee into the empty water reservoir. At that point something in my mind screamed out, "What are you doing??!!!" and I jumped back, knocking the coffee maker and container of coffee over.

I just stood there staring at the coffee spilled all over the place, feeling totally defeated. Then, after several long moments, I turned away and decided to go to AM/PM for a Red Bull to give me the energy to clean the mess, and the coffee maker, up.

  3. OW, I once emptied the coffee into the water reservoir and then clicked as to what I had done. What a job it was to get every last bit of ground coffee out of the reservoir.

  4. It's easy to make all kinds of mistakes when half asleep dozed off in a zombie like state of mind. I guess it's best not to start breakfast in this state, even if it is just coffee.

  5. Alice, never had your problem, but Owlwatcher, I've come very close to your disaster! It is much safer to set the coffee pot the night before!!

  6. We had dinner guests one time and I served a new chicken that they had at the grocery store. It was stuffed and came with the roasting instructions. Not until we were all at the table, and Mr. WWM carve the chicken did I realize that I had put it in the roasting pan with that white plastic stuff that comes in the meat containers under the meat!!!! ACK!!!!! And of course when I put the chicken onto the serving tray, the white plastic stuff went right along with it. Sooooo embarrassing! It gave a whole new meaning to "Dark or white meat?".

  7. Ahhh Alice - I feel your pain ! I have done that very thing! Fortunately, I did this right in the arm hole, at the bottom of it, so it doesn't show -- much.. and it's for a costume (I am a hula dancer) so the item doesn't get worn often. Ironing should be against the law !
