Hey everybody, new first time kitten owner. Anyways, my kittens name is raja (Ruler) in hindi. We got him yesterday about 26 hours ago. Last night we started playing together and i heard some vibrating sort of noise. Today, the ENTIRE or MOST OF the time we played together, the sound kept going. When i put him in his box, i dont hear it, but when i play with him, im hearing it. its white noise and its continous. Is this purring? If it is, im confused because its been purring for a lonnnnnggg time. when i put my hand on his body, i felt it sort of vibrating. Thanks guys. (BTW hes eating well, drinking well, using litterbox, and is neutered)

Your kitten is purring! He is showing you he is happy when you pay attention to him. Good luck with your new furbaby.

Ok and 1 more question, his tail used to be straight up when i touched him last night, and todays its been more relaxed, sort of middle and not so erect, but sometimes its been straight up too. Is anything wrong?

Nope. no problem. Cats "talk" with their tails. If he is walking around with his tail straight up that is a sign of confidence. You will learn to guage is moods by his tail. How old is Raja and what does he look like?

Raja is a domestic shorthaired cat. Hes black and white (black from eyes up and white from nose down with spots of each color in different areas (hes amazing). Hes only 9 weeks old so hes a baby kitten. also, today when i was typing with my laptop in that room, he cuddled beside me and also leaped on the keyboard :) hes a fast typer ;)

He sounds lovely. Just give him lots of love and affection, good food, plenty of water and a comfy place to sleep and he will grow up to be a happy and healthy friend!

Oh Guitarhero! I loved your post. I can't believe that you are having the joy of learning about kittens from scratch (pun not intended)and sharing it with us. Everything will be a discovery for you and most of it will be joyful (maybe not your first hairball).
I got my first kitten when I was 7. The first night she slept with me, I heard that noise. It frightened me because I thought she was ill. So I took her into the kitchen, fed her, gave her milk and then wrapped her in a towel and held her. Of course, that only made her purr harder. So in great distress I woke my mother who assured me that all was well. Kittens respond to love. You will see.
