  1. Sophie keeps scratching the side of her face/ear upper neck maybe once every 4 to 6 hours. Is this normal? Could it be *gasp* fleas?!!!! I was thinking of taking her to the vet but I have been told this is normal? Not sure so I thought I would ask all your kitty mommies on here!

  2. Well there is something bothering her and i think it most likely would be fleas. if you get flea meds do not get hartz. try get revolution or frontline from the vet. hartz products have killed lots of cats and kittens.

  3. It could be ear mites, as well. Check inside her ears to see if there's greasy dirt in there.

  6. iliketea,
First of all scatching is normal but excess scratching isn't!
Fleas are common at this time of year as it is getting colder and the fleas are looking for something warm to eat. Do you see flea dirt on her?(Black flecks) A sure way to know is use a flea comb or put the dirt on a cottonball soaked in alcohol it will turn red if it's fleas!
Also look into her ears are they dirty and greasy? if they are you can buy earmite stuff at almost any petstore or Wallmart!
    Hope this helped!
    Peace

  7. Good news! Got a flea comb and combed through her fur and nothing! But lots of fur hehe. Good to know and have peace of mind she is just doing normal kitty scratching. Might try to clean out her ears...since she seems to be targeting that area. I don't see any ear mites but maybe its just dirty
