Today in History (Sept 14)

(4 posts)
  1. Today in 1814, Francis Scott Key witnessed the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812. The victory of American forces at Fort McHenry would inspire Key to pen The Star Spangled Banner, which would become America's national anthem.

Also today in 1879, American feminist and activist Margaret Sanger was born in New York. Sanger was best known as a pioneer of modern family planning and birth control methods, as well as the founder of Planned Parenthood.

  2. Okay, I really should have paid more attention in school...I really thought the Star Spangled Banner was written before the battle of 1812. Thanks Dee for saving me from saying something really stupid in the future, now wondering how many times in the past I've looked stupid..(I don't think I want to know)
