  4. That's so sad. He was so determined that he was going to beat it. At least he's not in pain anymore.

  7. That is very sad. I think everyone was really hoping for a miracle there. He certainly fought it with grace though.

  9. Oh no... that is really sad. I really hoped he'd be able to beat the cancer.

  10. I have had patients with pancreatic cancer. It is a horrible, horrible cancer. Not that any cancer is good, but this one is especially bad. He fought a good fight and gave hope to many cancer patients. That is a good legacy to leave.

  12. Sorry didn't see your post, I too was hoping that he would beat this longer than normal. One of my co-workers' father has it and its been about that long too, I hope he can make it longer.

  15. Oh, he is one of my heart-throbs. Have loved him for soooo long--especially in "Ghost". What a great movie.

  17. My ex-father-in-law passed from pancreatic cancer. He was still my FIL at the time... he collapsed at work, taken to the hospital, diagnosed and gone in less than 2 weeks. Very angry cancer.

  18. OMG. He fought tooth and nail for so long, I had hoped he had been misdiagnosed. :( A real gem to see him in is, "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar."

  19. I read about his passing in the newspaper this morning. He put up a good fight, but this is one cancer that rarely can be beat. He was a great actor and I always enjoyed seeing how believable his characterizations were.

  20. He battled this with the whole world watching and was so brave...RIP Mr. Swayze

  21. I didn't even know about this. I guess not listening to the news last night or this morning but I don't recall seeing it in the SF Chronicle.

Wow, RIP Mr. Swayze, you gave us the love of dance in Dirty Dancing and romance in Ghost. Thank you.

  22. Yes, it is very sad....he fought so gallantly and hard to live. Cancer is such a horrible disease...they can put men on the moon....why oh why, can't they find a cure for cancer?! RIP Patrick Swayze.

  23. I think that the cure is so illusive because every cancer originates from a different cellular structure and disruption. The different cancers really are not linked at all. It is truly a challenge for scientists, but I hope one that they can someday meet. Funding, as always, is short.
