How awful! How can these people do things like that? They go through all the hysterics and everything for the press, look like they are so distraught and grieving, and they've actually done the deed themselves.
We've got a case right here in the Detroit area like that. The guy got mad at his wife, strangled her, took her body to his work place, cut her up and took her parts out to the local metropark. It was in the winter, so he tried to hide the parts in the snow. Went to the media, all crying and pleading for her to "come home". The very first time I saw his face (he had one of those wide-eyed crazed looks) I said "He did it!". When they started looking for her in the metropark, he got scared and went out to collect the parts, bringing her torso home and putting it in their garage. Someone reported finding some suspicious items in the metropark, so police went out to his home with a search warrant and found the torso before he had a chance to dispose of it otherwise. He had already left the area, driving way up north in Michigan. He took a bunch of sleeping pills, then started walking through a state forest area, supposedly to go to sleep and freeze to death (this was in the winter). But the police found him and he confessed everything. Now he's in custody waiting for his trial. It just galls me that there are these "sickos" out there. The two kids are now with his wife's sister.

Woooahh! Hold your fire. There are so many inconsistencies to this whole story, it beggars belief. Just consider the following :
Maddy was seen alive on the night she disappeared. Could it really be possible for her to have been killed, even accidentally, and disposed of so effectively and so quickly in what would have been a blind panic that 4 months later there's still no trace of a body?
The authorities claim to have found DNA traces in a car hired by Maddy's parents 25 days after she went missing. Yet no-one seems to have even thought to investigate who had the car in the intervening 25 days...
DNA can be taken from so many different sources, and in most cases, can easily be transferred from one "host" to another. Think of the last time one of your cats shed fur all over the top you were wearing. You try and you think you've got it all off; chances are you haven't. You wear the same top a coupe of days later, and some of the fur ends up on the coat you're wearing on top, or the chair you sit on. That's DNA transferred. And a full autopsy style forensic analysis of cause of death from a whiff of DNA? I don't think so.
And the diary. Well. Who hasn't said things in stress that couldn't be misinterpreted in hindsight? If my Mother was found strangled tomorrow, I'd be number 1 suspect. Ditto so many of the rest of you with your own family traumas. A diary should be a private confessional, I wouldn't exactly say it was evidence.
The press, particularly the European press, has behaved disgracefully over this entire case. The Portuguese police were not exactly quick off the mark when Maddy was first reported missing. Yes, there will always be cases of parents who murder their own children, and that is truly horrifying. But in Maddy's case, I truly believe there's a little girl out there somewhere wondering why her Mummy hasn't come looking for her. In a way, you have to hope she is dead; if she isn't she's living in the same hell her parents are.

You can't believe most of what you read in the press. I don't know what has happened to the poor child, and I do believe that the parents must be suspects, but the forensic "evidence" cannot really be trusted either. I fear no-one will ever find out the truth. Poor little girl!

I'm pretty good about stuff like this. I have 'hunches' that almost always play out. They killed their daughter.
I also have a bad feeling about the kid who hid for overnight after somebody came in and shot his mom and grandmother. I'm almost sure his Dad has something to do with this. Has anybody else heard his 911 phone call? It's heartbreaking.
