My daughter and son-in-law use them on all their cats. The cats don't seem to mind them.

I posted this same question awhile back and got mixed reviews. But I think I am going to bite the bullet and just order them ! I have new bamboo floors and new window screens that my Bengal boys are leaving their signatures on them!! I will say that there are some funny looking spin-out marks on the floor that make me laugh more than make me mad, but never the less I am going to order ! I only hope my BF can hold them still long enough for the glue to dry !

SpM, have you tried training them to a sisel scratcher?....... all cats need to pull their "nails"...... and if you don't provide something and train them on it, they will (unfortunately) choose something of yours - and once they choose, it's VERY hard to "untrain" the bad habit!.... most cats love sisel because it catches their nails easily, and allows them to pull on it without hurting themselves - most all pet stores sell them, I have a couple around the house, and Abby & Cuddles ONLY use that - never anything else!... they are accessible, and they love them.......
..... you really need to start this as soon as you bring them home, but if your cats don't have one, and you have to try and re-train them, get one that has a "nip" pouch.... many kinds have a little pouch on the end that you fill with nip (to attract the cat), and that works really well...... when they smell the nip, and then feel the sisel, they typically "just want to scratch it".... and cats, being creatures of habit, once they find a good "scratching" post, will typically always go to it!..... so get going on this, asap - if they "choose" your couch or floors as that "scratching post", they will always go to that!.....
... best of luck, hope this helps!

They have all the toys and scratch posts I can fit in a 640sq ft condo !! They do use the scratch post, and for the most part are good about leaving the leather couch alone. The window screens are just to much of a temptation I think ! The floors are not being scratched per say just are showing signs of "breaking" around corners lol they run from one end to the other and then either slide out with full breaks or do a nascar spin and crash! It really is entertaining to watch! I would advise people that bamboo wood floors are very soft and kitty breaks do show.

ok, I do understand the screens are a temptation - you might try spraying them with something (unpleasant, but not harmful).. that would probably solve that .... the floors, well you may contact a flooring guy that might be able to put a strong sealant on them, but good heads up on building materials in "kitty households"!.....

Spanky_Mouse you'll have to let me know what happens!
Sophie didn't have a scatching post in her last home so she is taking to using my couch. Been teaching her to use the scratching post and the cardboard one..seems to help. Also been spraying my frabric couch with "Shoo". Hopefully if I keep spraying that stuff for another week or two she'll get the idea.
If not I am going to try soft paws
