Nature's Variety make prepackaged raw and a few other companies do as well. the problem is that prepackaged raw is about 4x the price of making the raw yourself.
So say you have a 10 pound cat and you fed 3% of its body weight per day.
You'd use:
3.84 ounces of muscle meat per day
0.48 ounces of bone per day
0.24 ounces of liver per day
0.24 ounces of kidney (or other secreting organ) per day
4.8 ounces of total food per dayIt isn't that hard to make a balanced meal as long as you have an accurate scale to wiegh each type of food on. Put the right amount of meat/bones/liver/kidney in a baggie for a day and freeze. take it out when you need it.

FF50, I'm still not quite ready to do a switch, maining because of lack of space to even organize, but I'm looking to change that soon and will be wanting more and more info on RAW...this website has tons of info...thank you..
In the meantime, I didn't realize that you could get prepackaged raw..maybe that is the best place to start. -
Mine wouldn't touch the raw. Had to give it to the ferals, who loved it.

5 ounces doesn't seem like much but I am feeding only 2.5% of my cats body wieght per day and they are barn cats so have to stay warm. I know I will have to up it in the winter as it gets colder, but so far 2.5% is maintaning their wieght well.
I really want to get a chest freezer so I can make bigger batches of meat at a time and can get lots of pork/beef when it is on sale. Else that stuff is expensive! Until I can find one on craiglist for cheap enough I can only make a weeks worth at a time.
Really it doesn't take much time to make up raw. I take 1.5 to 2 hours a week with freezing about 30 lbs since that is what will last me through the week and its all that I am able to find space for. I take the only time of the week that I have that is really free which is Sunday, wish I had time on a Saturday instead but don't. With school/calves/cats every day of the week and cat shelter/calves/buying meat/barn cats on saturday the best time to do it is Sunday since then I have about a two hour space in the afternoon that I am doing nothing.
The scale I have is really nice (don't know if all scales are like this) and you can put in the muscle meat, reset the scale to zero after you get the correct amount of that in. then put in bone and reset to zero, etc.
Once you get the hang of it raw is really easy. It isn't difficult like pet food companies try make it seem like.
@sheba: what meat did you try?
