Why is Australian slang so funny.

  1. Apparently lots of international students coming to Australia are having trouble understanding Australian slang. so this website has been created to help people understand.

It's pretty funny and might be useful if any one plans on coming her...

Hey Moonshadow do you say any of these things in NZ?

  2. Just chatting with daughter Airy in California about the slang and she says we don't really use the three examples given but I say we do. It must be a generational thing. I can remember when "She'll be right, I'm stuffed and Give it a crack" were well used but they have fallen out of usage now. International students here also have trouble with our slang. We have had fun with the girls foreign friends/flatmates explaining some things.

  7. When I was in Australia, it was like an entirely different language. Very interesting. And when Aussie friends visited Florida, they felt the same way about our "Florida-speak"...I acted as translator for them...very funny!

  8. OK AV, I'll give it a try.
'Give me your digits' = shake hands?
'who knew' = sarcastic exclamation, ie. No shit Sherlock!
'sic' = thus or I'll sic the dog on you.
