  1. Hello Friends! It is time to open the cafe! I am so thirsty, think I am still suffering dehydration from all those chocolate martini's. I am having help this morning from Panera as I am busy with my girls and work. All of a sudden we have gotten slammed with patients. Not that that is bad, I just get pulled in 50 different directions. We have plenty of kitties looking for snuggles (Wilma would like some too!) and loving! Please enjoy your day and get ready to start a late summer weekend! YAY

  2. Hi and Morning MC. I bet you are glad to have Wilma home last night. Good snuggles I hope.
I actually woke up close to 7am!! I never sleep that late. I got up with Abbie at about 11:30ish and got her back to sleep and then I went back to bed and slept well. So I am enjoying coffee and the sunrise :) It's a beautiful day here in Cleveland.

  6. Good morning, all! CM, glad you are feeling better and had a good sleep. Anything special going on for you and the girls today?
JCat, have a good night's rest.
MC, with Wilma back home, you can concentrate on your work today and everything will go better. Plus, you'll have Wilma and Betty to come home to.
Another beautiful day here...I am sure enjoying the lovely fall weather as we rarely get such a nice, long fall.

  10. Morning All, and Good Night to JC! MC, so glad that Wilma is back home! I should clean today, too, CM, but I say, 'who cares'! Have fun, AV! What's new in IA, LadyKat? YooHoo Joan....bet the family is excited about JRoc's daughter moving to Jersey!

Posted 2 years ago by katthays #

  11. I should clean, too, but I just went to the dentist and had my teeth cleaned - that's enough cleaning for one day :)

It's Friday - yay! Anybody have any exciting plans for the weekend?

  12. Hi again -
Just worked off some aggression from not enough sleep lately. Couldn't stand the clutter in the reception area (meanwhile, my office is an awful mess!). Ironically, the best quality sleep this week was the few hours after we met with MCW!
KH, I'm sooo happy K is moving to Jersey! I guess it may be bittersweet for Jroc, but at least the other K is in WI and Jersey K will be closer to both of her Grandmothers.
Hi GD! My Mom's b-day is tomorrow. If I can get my act together, I thought I might pick up some fresh fruit and hang out with her for a while. Maybe I will talk her into having a mimosa too! :)
    Sunday is...football!

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  13. Morning everyone! TGIF. I am excited it is the home opener for UK this weekend and I am ready to be in the stands cheering for some football. I have my stadium bag all packed and can't wait! Tomorrow night we are going to a family dinner at a neat supper club type place so that will be fun too.

I brought donuts in today. All varieties, please help yourself to your favorite!

MC, slip Wilma through the wormhole and I will give her some scritches and headbonks. So glad she is home.

  14. Ok this is weird. I tried to start a thread asking for white light for my boss' horse Matt. He had to have surgery this week and is not doing as well as expected. I know I hit send post, but it has not shown up on my list. Can anyone else see the thread?

  15. TGIF...busy this AM...I need some java to go...& a smooch for the Catgreeter!
    Have a great Friday/nite!

  16. Hmmm, I don't see it KY.
Have fun at the home opener. Oh and I could really go for a jelly donut, TGIF!!!

  17. Morning everyone. TGIF YESSSSSSS. My back's still really sore, guys, please keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming. Went to my md, he gave me Cipro and Bentyl. Does not appear to be a kidney infection, and he's ordered more tests: renal ultrasound and spine xrays (yesterday), bloodwork and a stool sample (Monday, after a 12-hour fast). Called my gutdoc,
this mornning but he won't be back in the office until next Wednesday (groan). I was able to talk to his partner's office assistant. I suggested it might be time for the gutdoc to confer with my GP to try and figure this out.

I -just- bought the first of the 2009 Honeycrisp apple crop and peaches for myself last Saturday and I've been told to avoid fresh fruits and veggies for awhile now. Might be too much fiber??? Some days I go over 30 grams, many days I'm a little under... somehow I don't think it's too much fiber. Just wanna cry, I hurt so badly. No OTC painkillers are touching this, and even my trusty heating pad isn't doing a lot.

Not scared quite yet, but definitely concerned.

  18. Morning all.... donuts, wow, I haven't had one in well over a year ! MMmmmm a vitual one sounds great.

We (our halau - hula school) have an opportunity to be on Good Morning Arizona news show Sunday morning - so I'll be dragging my tired butt out of bed early on Sunday for the 7:30 a.m. taping. :) It's a good 45 minute drive to where the filming will take place, and of course, we need to be there early. Why oh why do I agree to these things?!?!? LOL

Healing energies to you Sio !

  19. Sending prayers and healing energy to you, Siobhan!! What fun, 2Pop!

Posted 2 years ago by katthays #

  20. Oh Siobhan, I hope your two doctors can figure out what is wrong and that is treatable. Sending you some hugs. When I got my second migraine last night in two days, I started to cry in frustration because I basically have to go home, take some ibuprofen, close up the drapes and curl up in a ball on my bed and try to get some sleep as that is the only thing that helps it go away. It is such a waste of time when it happens (glad it doesn't happen more than 4-6 times a year). Thankfully both these times I got the ibuprofen in fast so I recovered within two hours or so. Last night I got all the way to the numbing of my hand but then the ibuprofen kicked in. I just need to stay away from caffeine for a bit.

I am tired this morning and am so looking forward to when the clock hits 4pm and I can go home. Found out interesting news last night from the property manager. Seems the unit I wanted back in January of this year is now available (person who currently lives in it hasn't been there a year though as they moved in February of this year). Anyways, as tempting as it is to consider moving to it, I am told by the property manager that they would treat it as a new tenant move in which means I would have to pay them a new deposit before I could get back my old deposit from my current place. It would be like moving into a new place and there would be some moving costs (would need to hire someone to help move the furniture and heavier boxes). Well, I am wanting to move closer to work and am just so tired of the bad commute. East Bay drivers are just the worst and now that school is back in session, my morning commute has become more stop than go and so it now takes around 50 mins to an hour when it was taking a nice 40 minutes. The evening is around 50 minutes to an hour now as well. Commuting that much is getting old faster now. So as much as I like the idea of moving to the that unit in the back of the complex on the third floor that has a nice partial view of San Francisco and better ventilation (cross breeze), it won't change my crummy commute. Big sigh.

After I was feeling better last night, I did clean up my kitchen, wipe down all the counters, unload and load the dishwasher, clean the cat fountain and put out clean bowls with dry food in them and scrubbed the sink. I even put one of the those plink airfreshener things into the sink and run the disposal. This one is lemon and so it smells fresh. Now I need to go do about eight loads of laundry that includes bed linens and towels in addition to my clothes. Guess what I will be doing tonight and tomorrow. Ugh! Needs to be done though. I also need to scrub out the shower/tub which will be done sometime this weekend. Where is that lazy Hazel! If we all could afford to hire a housekeeper. I was thinking about it this morning as I took my shower. Have someone who comes in cleans the apt once a week, makes me yummy things to store in my fridge, washes and changes the bed linens and towels and washes my shirts and presses them. Oh the luxury of that thought! The housekeeper idea is on my list for when and if I ever win the lottery.

So may I have a nice chocolate filled croissant, please. TGIF!!!!!

  21. Sounds like a productive night SMM ! I can certainly understand your not wanting to move within the complex if you are looking to shorten your commute. I wouldn't put out all that money either. Best of luck on finding a place closer to work !

  22. HI!!!!!! Peeking in before I have to make my what seems like daily run to Wal-Mart. I just can't get enough of the "Wal-Mart People"!!! Sadly, I think that I may have become one.

Donuts? Wow - it's been a long, long time.......

  23. Happy birthday to your mom, Joan. Today's the 13th anniversary of my mom's death.
Went to the dentist this morning for a cleaning and now my gums are sore. The dentist was more damant than usual that my wisdom teeth need to come out - yikes! Maybe I should have tried putting in a couple of more weeks at the morning job! Hopefully I'll have one additional deal come through at that job to help pay for dental work. Not what I had planned on spending that money on :(

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  24. Happy birthday to your mom, Joan. Sorry for you sad reminder, GD. 2Popoki, I agree and think it is best to find a new place closer to work but I do have to say I would be sad to leave my current unit as it has such a good layout (except the tub/toilet room which is small and tight). I just need to think about it all in the next two weeks. GD, hope the dentist is reasonable in regards to your wisdom teeth. Extracting them can be quit costly. Hope it all works out.

Posted 2 years ago by SylMiaFelixMomma #

  25. My dentist is the best, but unfortunately he has to send me elsewhere to have the teeth extracted. If I don't get a suitable bonus from the new/old job, getting them out won't even be an option. I also hope the specialist will give me the same discount my dentist does (friend and family) - when I went to a specialist for gum surgery, they honored my discount, which really helped. I can't believe it's Friday already! I have to go shopping tomorrow for a gift to send my brother for his birthday a week from today. Hopefullt it'll make it there in time. I hope to spend some time with GG, too, as he'll be going away on his trip soon.

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  26. GD - I had a dentist tell me that my wisdom teeth needed to come out, and that needed to happen before I was 30 years old. I told him - too late, I'm already 37. I am much more than that now, and still have my wisdom teeth. They don't hurt, they aren't causing any crowdindg of my teeth... as far as I'm concerned they can stay right where they are !

I missed the post - when/where is GG going and for how long??

Posted 2 years ago by 2 Popoki #

  27. Hey everyone happy afternoon! GD, sorry about the wisdom teeth. Not fun and not cheap. I went to the dentist this week and ended up seeing my Dentist's partner and now I am trying to figure out how to see the partner every time I go. He is awesome and figured out the source of nagging pain I have been experiencing since I had my root canal 18 months ago. Its only been 2 days since he adjusted my crown and I already can feel a difference. It doesn't hurt to floss around that tooth anymore!

SMM as tempting as that other unit might be, it is ridiculous that they want you to pay a new deposit. Sounds like they are subtly encouraging you to leave. Good luck finding a good place closer to work.

Ok there are more donuts left if anyone needs dessert!

    Posted 2 years ago by KYKAT 12 23 #

  28. That is what I was thinking, Kykat. The property owner is someone who doesn't seem to want to make it so it could be a nice easy transition. I mean, why do they have to hold on to two deposits when it is just a transfer of units involving only one person - me?! It doesn't make any sense and it isn't like he would be losing a tenant. All that would be concerned is that the old unit be cleaned and left in good condition to transfer the deposit over to the new unit. Everything is about covering the landlord and nothing about helping the tenant in this complex. In the place I lived in the Northbay, it was a 32 unit building owned since it was built in 1986 and the property manager had been there since then. She was always flexible about things. When I got laid off in 2001 in the big dot com layoffs, she let me pay my rent bi-weekly instead of monthly which helped a lot. I would have liked to move back to that same building (in a bigger unit) but unless I find a job near there which isn't going to happen in this crummy economy, I look elsewhere when my lease is up in January.

  29. Hey everyone! I think that this is my first time at the cafe. EWW @ Wisdom Teeth. I'm thinking I'll be needing mine pulled, soon, but I'm scared to death.
SMM, that just doesn't sound right to have to pay two deposits. Sounds odd to me. I know what it's like to have a hard time finding a house that's worthwile! Good luck to you.
On my end, I'm stressing about money (isn't everyone?) and trying to figure out how to raise money to move across the country to fight for custody of my son. I'm scared to death! Full post is here
