Deworming side effects?

(9 posts)
  1. Took Sophie to the vet for her constant ear itching, and turns out she has residual ear mite problems and they gave her drops for her eears and revoultion flea and ear mite treatment for hte back of her neck.

They also gave her half a tablet for deworming....she has been napping since coming home and eating a little bit of food. Any side effects from deworming I should be aware of?

  4. ILT...worm meds have a tendency of doing that to a kitty. I wouldn't worry too much. When the meds kick in & she starts eliminating them, Sophie is going to feel a whole lot better.

  6. I noticed that Sophie hasn't pooed since before the vet visit yesterday. Is this normal with a deworming pill?

  7. Well, in my experience, if there is to be an effect from deworming tablets, it's quite the opposite. It can cause diarrhea, and in the case of my baby, sumi, extreme diarrhea that made her critically ill for five days, during which time we feared we'd lose her. So, I'd say Sophie is probably fine!

  9. If she ever seems constipated again, ILT, you could try a small teaspoon of cod liver oil on her food, maybe once a day til she goes, then stop. They usually like the flavour too - keep the oil in the fridge or it can go off. Sophie is absolutely gorgeous by the way (just checked out her catster!)
