  1. We just adopted another kitten and plan on naming him or her Cow Cow. Yes this baby is white with gray patches on him He/she is only 2 days old and with Mama Cat. We should be able to bring him home to live with us around November 12th or so. I will be bringing him into a home with our 13 1/2 old dog Meeko and our 6 month old kitten Bruin. Bruin has the same Mommy as our new little baby Cow Cow. I dont have to worry about my dog accepting him but what about my kitty. He got very jealous when i held my neighbors new puppy that is very very small, not much bigger than a little kitty. Does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to make this introduction easier for Bruin. Bruin has been sleeping between my husband and I since he came to live with us in June. He is attached to me and even goes for car rides with me just a a doggie would. I am worried that he may get stressed and not like us anymore. Do i have anything to worry about. I was thinking of dropping off a blanket with the family he is with now to maybe have our new kitty lay on it. Then bring it home about a couple of days before we pick him up so that our kitty can get used to the smell of the new addition. Any suggestion will be a great help.

    Thank you

  2. Welcome back - you haven't posted for a while.

Dropping off a blanket is an excellent idea. I would actually get two blankets and trade them back and forth once a week, if possible. That way both cats will be accustomed to each others scent and will also be use to having the two scents mixed.

Another thing that might help is to do some serious petting on the new baby then come home without washing your hands. Let Bruin eat some treats off your hands before you wash them. This will only work if you are sure that the new baby isn't carrying any infectious diseases. (Has Bruin been tested and has the mama cat had all her shots?)

There are a lot of web sites that talk about how to integrate a new kitty into an existing household. Because Bruin is so young, it may not be much of a problem though, he may just be overjoyed to have a playmate.

The keyword is always to go slow and let the kittens set the pace.
