Susie, Glad Hissy showed up for 2 meals yesterday...That is a very good sign!! Continued prayers for you and Hissy and all you sweet babies...
Karen, don't you just love that picture of Hissy??? I don't know how Susie managed to get that good of a picture Hissy is one fast girl!

Corzak...you may need to empty your cache if you haven't in awhile. She seems to be showing up for the others okay. Try it & see.
Hissy did come home for brekkie this morning. And altho it doesn't look like she had anymore run-ins, I'm really kinda freaked. She looked shocky in her eyes & was holding them more closed than usual. Like my sister mentioned...she may be in some pain but, I'm more worried about the shocky look to them. And she's hunching way down when she eats.
I'm having to limit the amts. of biotics I'm mixing in the wet food because I've been putting them in the food since she 1st got hurt(at least a wk.ago). I'm afraid Naughtyboy & Prettygirl will get too much in their systems & it will lower their resistance to the meds.
I can only ask for continuing Prayers from you all that she will start to improve. -
No luck with the trap? Still sending prayers that Ms Hissy heals and fully recovers.

Thanks for the suggestion FF...but been thru all that yrs.ago. At 2 different times while she was out & unspayed I trapped her w/my humane trap. Both times I had to release her because she had litters out there that couldn't be found. I attempted to get someone from our county to come w/there drop trap. She continually brushed the situation off. I proceeded to tell her what she could do w/her unconcerned attitude & her drop trap(she'd made 3 appts. w/me & never called to cancel & brushed me off). Hissy won't go near the trap anymore. I finally trapped her using a lrg. dog cage w/rope tied to the door. After leaving the cage out w/the door open for weeks,I finally got her to go in,gradually putting food & water closer to the back. Once in,I had to come from the front of the house & pull the rope tight to close the door on her. I dragged myself along the grnd. for sveral ft. before getting to the cage to lock it. She not only is smart but, very strong. She hasn't been home since yesterday morning & at last sight, she'd been attacked a 3rd time but, was even more feral than before. All I can do is leave the cage out & hope I can trick her again, which I doubt.

That poor baby! What exactly is attacking her?? I'm sorry, I don't know your whole story, having only been a member a short time. Prayers for Miss Hissy....she's beautiful.

Oh Susie, that must be so frustrating. How did she look after the third attack? Do you think it is still the same racoon or possibly something else attracted to her by her blood from her wounds? I pray that somehow you can help Ms. Hissy. You and I are the only ones who got to see her close up in the cage. I wish I could do more to help her but if you can't catch her, maybe we could try with another agency or something who might have a different sort of trap. I am willing to come out and somehow pick it up if it is available.

Ironmaiden...Hissy's original attack was from an agressive mama racoon that has 5 babies in tow. The wounds on her back from a bite were clear & the second attack as well. You could see the clear slice lines on her sides & w/the second attack, she had a couple more bites on her neck sides. The third attack could be from a possum but, I doubt it.
Karin...I'm not sure if you remember because it was a long time ago but, I went round & round with Rose from the Stockton Delta Humane Society trying to get help to trap Hissy. She had the only drop trap in the entire county. She kept making appts. w/me to bring the trap. The time would come & no show,no call,no nothing from her. I got tired of it when I saw her the day after she was suppose to be here on t.v. bragging about how they were helping all these feral that a hoarder had accumulated (the one where they were freezing the dead cats in their freezer). It was clear that even tho she was only a town away from me, that she didn't care if Hissy & her litters were stopped. So,I emailed her & called her & left a messege about how rude her behavior was & that she should get out of the business if she was going to shun the very animals she claims to care about.
Anyways I managed to finally trap her myself w/some old fashioned imagination. Now that Hissy is hurt (& this is the 1st time for her),I don't have the energy or imagination or the patience I once had yrs. ago when I trapped her before.

I am so sorry for all of u r trouble if I was closer I would be right there to help u catch her and get to the vet to get her help. If we had not caught samsam and his mother and brother and sister they would have all be feral. I have a problem with people who get animals and they will not take care of them and though them out to take care of themselves. I will keep u in my prayers and all the luck u need to catch her. aim

Susie, I recall all about Rose and how she chose not to help you and your ferals. Believe me, I wanted to come and give her a piece of my mind in person. If she couldn't help, she should at least called and or tried to find another person to bring the trap. I found this for making one -
http://droptrapdesign.blogspot.com/2005/10/build-your-own.htmlI also contacted an organization called Homeless Cat Network that may have a drop trap that we can borrow. I emailed them and we will see if they respond. Some of these organizations are so overwhelmed with kittens and cats being abandoned that they don't seem to respond so it may take some contacting several times.

I have been praying and my gang has been sending kitty kisses! I haven't had time to do much more than read in the past few days for the most part but please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you! Even my Mr. SB is praying for you and your babies! Sending gentle kitty nudges toward home to Miss Hissy!

Thanks you guys for all your Prayers & good wishes for Ms.Hissy. She needs them so much. It's so frustrating to watch an animal you've cared for(in Hissy's case-approx.6 yrs.),for so long & still not be able to handle them.
The biggest blessing or miracle was I was lucky to trap her & Hopper & have the litter machines stopped. Some feral colony caretakers never get to that point.
Karin...I'm amazed you've found someone out of my area that(If available for use) is willing to loan out their drop trap. Yrs.ago I considered building my own drop trap(before Hissy was trapped). I just didn't have enuf of the right materials laying around to build(or the physical help). In a way,you could say I'm feral right along w/my kits. Mr.Useless here, for lack of better wording, turned his back on me & abandoned me like the owners all abandoned my ferals. I will stay as positive as possible,in hopes that Homeless Cat Network will be able to loan their drop trap.
{{{HUGS}}} & Kitty Kisses to my favorite People in the whole world!
