  1. Glad to hear hubby is taking care of you! Be well, SM.

  2. Hugs SM, Rest. I know how he feels... things will be fine as long as it has not spread. As you say folks can get by very well on only one kidney.

  4. I'm glad you are feeling better and that you are not working today. Good luck with the renal specialist and nephrologist visits. Tell them to leave you some of your blood!! (Do you think TKN might be the one to do your blood draws in Lubbock???) :)

  6. Let hubby take good care of you SM. Be a good baby and nap properly with your blankie - don't grizzle, you'll feel better for it when you wake up again! You might even be allowed a bikkie if you've been good!

  8. TKN is in Littlefield--not to far away. I have a feeling if she were taking the blood I wouldn't look like a black and blue pin cushion! Actually there was this guy that did the first IV and blood draw and I have to report he was nothing short of amazing! There isn't even a bruise where the IV went in.

I am over the shock of yesterday and thinking clearer. Angry with how the ER treated me, but after hearing some stories here not that suprised I guess. I mean what doctor in her right mind says "You have a mass on your left kidney, cancer, here is a perscription for vicodin and make sure to follow up because you need immediate treatment." If I need immediate treatments, why are you not admitting me--especially since you can in to admit me about 30 minutes ago--no what that was when you put the Deborah E admit band on my arm and began preping me for surgery. Let's just say I have little to NO faith in the ER in this town now!

  11. I'm just catching up too. I'm sorry you had such a horrible ER experience. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

  12. I emailed MCW.

I think the ER doctor is missing something in her delivery. Then again how do you say you have cancer to a person? She was young, maybe that is the problem. Really how does she know with no biopsy that it is cancer? And do they think vicodin will really work to take away pain in my stomach that is causing pain in my chest? I have read that vicodin stops movement in the stomach. I am having major stomach issues--should I be halting all that is in there? Anyway I am not the first that has heard this news, nor will I be the last. I have to decide how I will react--now I am just confused and wanting answers.

  13. hey you are always welcome here SM, just remember I work 3-11 CST. Well I actually run the lab at those hours but at least I am employed. I am sorry about the bad ER doc, there are alot of those. I can regale you with stories about some of the ones here.
You know I had one tell me to do a type and cross on a woman who was being transfered and when I told the doc that there was no way I would have the blood ready for when the ems was taking her, he told me to fax the blood to the hospital in Lubbock.
Let me know when you are in town and we can do something.

  14. May be soon rather than later. They are sending me to a nephrologist at Texas Tex I believe. They said I would know by Friday. I am stressed and will continue to be until something is done. I learned today that biopsy isn't good because something about the leathery skin protecting the kidney, Gerota's fascia, holds the cancer cells in and protects it from metastisizing. Sorry I know there are spelling errors. I thought this would be easy. I think you should write a book--these stories would be great!

  15. Faxing blood? Hahahahahahha! That is a great story, TKN. :)

SM, this is scary stuff to be dealing with. I am upset that the ER doc just bluntly told you you have cancer and then sent you on your way with a vicodin prescription. We will all be with you in the doc's office and through any tests and procedures. Lots of love, support and prayers on their way to you!
