  1. Most of you know I'm not one to complain too much, but sometimes things really bother me!!! However, I also like to think as positive as possible so....I have a question for my fellow TDKers that I care so much about!!
Today is a good example, there are a couple different threads on todays list with petitions that could make major changes for the better for animals...only a very few people seemed to visited those threads....Please, please tell me I'm wrong...please tell me that my TDK family memebers are signing these and just not posting a comment....If the one thing that brought us together is our love for animals then please take a minute or two to make a difference. Many times signing these petitions can make much more of an impact than any donation you could make...Please !!!!
Maybe I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning but I just feel so strongly for the animals so desparatly in need!!!

  2. Hi Julie...Honey as long as there is unfair, cruel treatment of animals going on around us...everyday is the wrong side of the bed...or it should be. I'm sorry if I miss the threads that are posted. I confess that I've been M.I.A. lately and never pass over these threads intentionally. I do believe the tides seem to have been turning on TDK lately and as much as I love each and every member here, we seem to have bombarded the site with more personal matters than matters concerning what matters most which is helping animals in every capacity. I've been having some health problems and we've started putting up storm windows and preparing firewood stocks for upcoming winter. I'll try to check in more often for the threads that really matter most to me...and that is Animal Welfare.

    XOXOXOX Karen

  3. Julie, I think it is a case of people reading, doing and then going on and not coming back to comment. For a lot of threads with links, petition or no, I will go and read them, but if I don't feel like I am adding anything to the conversation, I wont go back and add a post.

  4. Thanks Karen & Kykat, I guess sometimes I get too emotional about these issues, I should know that the people here care enough to help!! Karen, we all miss many threads no need to apologize for that! I hope you're feeling better and I'm glad you are preparing for winter it will help to have those things done before the cold temps arrive. Beside Karen I think you have sent me more of these important petitions that I would have not seen otherwise...You do so much for all of God little creatures!!!

  5. Julie...what KYKAT said...alot of times I take care of 'reading & doing' when things are less hectic. So many times I'm just too tired or don't feel up to posting a comment. I know you understand & I hope you don't think I'm bombarding you all w/my Ms. Hissy saga.

  6. I lurk... but always know I am here, listening and helping any way I can. If white light, hugs, prayers, clicks on links.... I am in.... Just mostly lurking. :)

  7. Susie, don't think that for a minute...Now I feel bad...I'm going on and on about signing petitions and you live it everyday...you do more for animals in need than anyone I know....You have devoted your life to caring for them...and Hissy is one of those in need. Please keep us updated!!! Many of these petitions are for furbabies just like Hissy!!! Susie you are a guardian angel of these helpless babies!!!

  10. Susie..we have all come to know and love not just you but sweet Ms. Hissy and all her offspring and others you've cared for. I'm a firm believer that God hears our prayers on behalf of you and Ms. Hissy. When did you change your Avatar? Is that Ms. Hissy? I've never seen that pic! How did you manage to get it? She's so beautiful. I hope and pray her recent injuries are beginning to heal. If love can do it...she's home free. XOXOXO

  11. Julie...don't you dare feel bad. I never meant for you to. And believe me...you have a right to rant just like the rest of us. What happens to animals on a daily basis is despicable & unnerving, to say the least.
Sometimes it takes a small rant like yours to remind us of what brought all of us 'Worldly' animal lovers together.

*btw...I can't wait till Thanksgiving time!

  12. Me too Susie, and thanks for understanding!!

  13. Personally, I deliberately do not add a reply to petition threads. Two reasons, I don't want to bore anyone with yet another "I signed" post and more importantly, I don't want to use KM's storage for non-contributory purposes. I also rarely use bump for the same reason. If I have nothing to add, I'd prefer to let it die a natural death. There are enough users that do bump threads and raise a cyber hand to be counted. You do not need me.

  14. Hi Sis...can you see me waving? That is the 1 & only Hissy in my avatar. That shot was taken thru my kitchen screen at brekkie time. I have other pics of her showing her beautiful snowshoe feet but, have to have my nieghbor help me size them down to fit the puter screen. If I knew puters like I know cats...I'd be an Einstein.

  15. Iknow I usually don't comment because I don't feel I have anything else to add to the conversation, but I'm looking and clicking! I've found out about so many sites to help animals through looking on TDK, I love it here!

  16. Ditto what Sugarbee said. Lately I have not much to add but I am here! Looking, reading, clicking... etc. I love you guys!

  18. Does KM have a significant problem with "storage space"? If that is the case, how could there be hundreds of posts in the cafe and nightshift threads each day?

How does a poster know if anyone signed a petition unless the reader comments? For that matter, how does a poster know if anyone reads anything unless the reader comments?

  19. I'm simply not here that often, I miss a lot of these. Sorrry.

  21. Thank you all for letting me know that your out there and taking action. Arcalian, we do miss you being around!!! But no need to apologize..

  22. Dee, every post adds to the size of the database. Most Hosts provide an elastic size to the allotted space. You pay for X gigabytes of storage and when you reach Y% of X you are automatically allotted and charged for the next level of storage. If you have a fixed allotment without the auto expansion, you have to reduce the database periodically or again contact the provider to purchase more. Elastic expansion usually only works one way. It grows but you have to contact the provider to get it reduced if you clear out old files. I choose to not add to the expansion with "Me Too" posts that add no further content.

  23. Understood. But I really hope we don't get to a point on this site where people are second-guessing themselves as to whether or not their comments will be deemed "worthy" by other TDK'ers...all in the name of storage space.

And that still leaves the fact that a poster has no idea if anyone read their post unless comments are made afterward. And, of course, that is the reason for bumping a topic.

  24. As others have said...."alot of times I take care of 'reading & doing' when things are less hectic. So many times I'm just too tired or don't feel up to posting a comment". I do care though and sometimes I take the time to sign the petitions. I get a lot of mail from ASPCA and from Alley Cats so I am aware of some of the issues out there.
