I went out on my porch a little over an hour ago and called my last cat that was still outside, Jimmy the Weasel. Jimmy came running, but another kitty answered my call from the driveway. I hurriedly put Jimmy in the garage (he and the other 2 outside cats spend the night in there) and went back out, and there was a hysterically crying moo kitten out there! Despite meowing in answer to my calls, she kept running into the woods. Eventually I managed to lure her into a large carrier by moving the food plate to the back and shutting the door when she FINALLY ventured in. You wouldn't believe how she hollered when she realized she was caught! I brought her upstairs to my bathroom, shut the door and let her out...I thought she might be feral, she was cowering on the back of the commode hissing. I sat down on the floor and talked to her calmly, telling her she was okay, I wasn't going to hurt her, she is safe now...eventually she let me touch and then pet her. Unbelievably, she let me pick her up and give her a bath in the sink! She purred through the whole bath and enjoyed being rubbed dry with the towel. She was SO dirty and had fleas and flea dirt, so the bath was an absolute must. You could tell she felt better being clean, she was purring and making biscuits on the soft towel I put in the crate. The door is open and she can come out when she wants, but she is confined to the bathroom. She does keep meowing like she is calling someone, so I'm wondering if she was with a sibling or is missing her mother? She appears to be 3-5 months old.

Update on the kitten: she definitely is missing her mama. She cried and cried when I left her alone. I let my most sweet and laid-back cat, Beau, in the bathroom with her and she immediately ran to him purring loudly and gave him head bonks. He hissed at her, which surprised me! None of the cats, even Tibby, accepted her overtures of friendship, so one by one I tried and then removed them. At two in the morning she was still crying, so I got her out and brought her into bed with me, but she was madly nestling me and trying to nurse on my arm. Finally I got the idea to put her back in the crate with a teddy bear. She nestled against it and finally settled down. Poor little girl!

That's easy. There must be a symbol marked somewhere on your place. Wasn't the one the hoboes used to indicate a friendly place the face of a cat?

Headbonks for you, Catwoman! Cats know when a human is a special kitcat peep!
(Cats always come in my yard/to me too!) My question to you is re fleas and passing on to your other kits! I just spent all week defleaing Dot/Crock and
ridding my house of 'em! But, thank you for taking care of little Moo kit! -

The little girl is so sweet and happy and has already mastered the litterbox. Luckily I had a small bag of the non-clumping kind on hand that was purchased by mistake. She really wants to be friends with the resident cats, runs up to them purring loudly and giving head bonks--only to be met with spits and growling! The poor thing looks so confused when they do this, I guess the only cats she knew before were her own sibs and mom. How shocking to see even gentle Tibby making the mean face, curling his lip at her and snarling. I wouldn't have even thought he knew how to do that!
