  1. Morning everyone. just popping in to say and grab a cup of coffee. Yesterday was my 20th anniversary! Hubby and I went out for a really nice dinner and he bought me a journal to use when we do our big trip in November. He also bought me 3 anniversary cards! 1 silly one for before dinner and two mushy ones for during and after dinner. We had a lovely Thai meal. I got Thai Fusion Lobster and it was fabulous!

Prayers for Miss Wilma and her surgery, good thoughts to all!

  2. Dinner sounds lovely, KYK; congrats on your anniversary! Hubby sounds like a keeper (but then, obviously you know that) :)

  3. Thanks Kilroy. He really is a keeper. He sent me a dozen roses and wrote me a poem the morning after our first date. He literally called a friend who is a florist and met him at the shop and was at my door with flowers and poetry by 7:30 in the morning. I realized right then and there that he was in the keeper category!

  4. Wow, I would say he was a keeper after the roses. Wow. Happy 20th Anniversary Kykat. May you have many more happy years together. AzDeb, that really bites that someone would put a bogus name and number after damaging your car. I keep saying it..the the human gene pool needs chlorine.

This morning at work they were doing some sort of construction on the floor below us. It got so bad the whole floor was shaking. At one point the floor shook so violently I thought I was going to go crashing through. It scared me. I mentioned it to my manager and she said that it was nothing (but she goes and talks to the techline guys to make sure everything is okay with them). I said I have never worked at a company that subjected it's employees to construction and they always did it on off hours. She said that they always have done construction even if it affects the employees. I tell you I am a nervous wreck now after this mornings experience! Believe me, I am sending out resumes to find something where they treat their employees better. I need a nice mocha with a dollop of baileys and kahlua to help calm my nerves and I don't really drink.

  5. Hi, Everyone! Happy Anniversary, Kykat!! Hope there's something lovely on tap for the day.

I've been held prisoner in my kitchen this morning. Mr. WWM volunteered me to do beans for 120 people at the Meals-on-Wheels cookout tonight. Seeing as how I don't have pots nearly big enough to cook beans from scratch for that many, I've been feverishly working to disguise canned beans. Hope it works! It's not exactly a great day for a cookout here - 58 degrees and rainy. But that could change by tonight.

  6. Happy Anniversary, KyKat!

SMM, when there were major renovations to my library, the original plan was to have us all stay in place while the additions were being done. HA!

It didn't last long! On the very first day of work, a construction guy fell and broke his leg. And it went downhill from there.

During the course of the first few months, we had standing rainwater on the floors, and lots of electrical and computer cords sitting in that water, it got unbearably hot because we couldn't use the AC and it was over 100 degrees inside the building ad the windows were all covered with black plastic, pieces of ceiling tile were falling in my department, and finally, they found asbestos in the basement.

That meant we -had- to evacuate. The reference department and circulation moved to the Student Center, in the basement. They modified the old bowling alleys (the joke was "Bowling for Books") to use as a Reference and Circulation point, all the rest of the books were moved to a nasty warehouse that leaked and had rats (eeeuuuu!), and the office staff were moved to an office building adjacent to the warehouse. We were there for almost three years!

  7. Wow, Siobhan sounds like you have had your share of construction at work. Ick!! I have been subjected to construction off and on during the almost two years I have been here at my company. We have had walls replaced that we were sitting next too (dust blew out into the work area one day coating us and our work place). Another time was they used some sort of glue and we were all kind of loopy for a hour or so. They painted the stairwells one day so we couldn't hold onto the railings as you walked down and closed off the elevators as they were doing something to them as well. Oh and we had the power go out at one point and they had to send us all home as it got stifling hot in the place but they had us all wait two hours before they would give the time to leave sign. Someone should have made calls to OSHA but no one does of course since the higher ups can go and work from home.

  8. Hi all, I had a busy day today and I'm so tired but nowhere near done. GG didn't get home from work til 11:30 last night, so that's when I went to meet him before his 10 day trip. We talked and talked and didn't get a lot of sleep. I didn't get home til 10:30 this morning and then Auntie Ellen picked me up at 11:30. We went and reserved a restaurant for our home matches this season, then for sushi and then to BJ's for hundreds of drinks for our team. Dropped that off at the tennis center and then went to a tennis store for balls for the matches.
I had 45 minutes to take a nap and had just laid down when Mi came over and meowed at me. I opened my eyes and looked at him - and the whole side of his eye was swollen and his eye kind of pink. I ended up getting him in with the vet and he was a terrible, terrible patient. He growled and hissed so much they had to wrap him in a towel - I was so embarassed! Anyway, the vet was kind of stumped, but figured he either ran into something or got bit by something (I'm thinking the darn bed bugs!). He got a shot of anti-inflammatory and a pain reliever and should be nice and tired for 24-48 hrs. If he's not better by Saturday, I have to bring him back - let's hope iit doesn't come to that!
GOt to work half an hour late, by 5:00. Working til 9:00 and then heading to XBF's to pick up a book I got in the mail that I have to return. I really just want a nice nap!

  9. Oh MI! I hope you feel better soon, this has not been a good time for TDK kittehs lately. GD, it was well worth the sleepless night to have a nice evening with GG. Hi to anyone else that is here!

  10. It sure was worth it, MC! I had a great time with him, as usual, and it was nice to get to see him before he left. His plane left just after 5:00 this afternoon and he texted me til it was time for takeoff and he had to turn off his phone. He arranged with his carrier to have phone and text service in Europe so he says he'll stay in touch :)

Today was not a good day for poor Mi. I didn't have much trouble catching him to bring him in, but wow, he turned into a wild one at the vet's. I wanted to pet him to calm him down, but he was so hissy and growly, I wasn't sure he wouldn't hurt me. Thankfully he didn't and he didn't try to bite the vet and the assistant, either. He's always been scared to got o the vet, but never this bad. We just went a few months back and he was nowhere near this bad. Silly boy! He got some treats when we got home and slinked off to hide and sulk somewhere.

  11. Ooops, typo in my first post - I meant to say half his little face was swollen, not just his eye - his poor cheek and part of his nose, too :(
