  1. Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening TDK family! Hope this morning's cafe finds you well. Today is set to be another lovely fall day here in Illinois. The kittehs are up and getting ready to snuggle with you. Betty would like to be the first up for snuggles. We have a fully stocked buffet with whatever sweets or savories you would want to start your day (or as a late evening snack). The coffee/espresso bar is open to jumpstart your day. I cannot sleep because I want to gouge my eye out of my head I have such a headache. I think all the stress of the past two weeks is finally catching up with me. Please stop in, snuggle a kit or two and enjoy your day!

  2. Morning MC. While you gouge your eyes from your head I'll scratch the skin off my face, neck and head. I sometimes react to my shampoo or moisturiser and the last few days have been h*ll. My skin feels all burning and swollen and unbearably itchy, I've just got to wait it out as nothing soothes it. I'll have a cuddly kitty to take my mind off scratching and a large hot coffee please.

  3. .... oh dear..... peeks in the cafe, sees MC "clawing" at her eyes and MS doing the "itch" dance!....... so sorry ladies, both conditions are NO FUN!.... MS, if it helps - I also suffer from allergy rashes frequently, and sometimes the only "relief" for me is to soak myself in a warm bath tub of water!....... from some reason, it seems to help my pores open and the toxins to release........ good luck!

  4. Oh my...what a sight in the cafe..eyes and skin everywhere....
I hope you ladies feel better soon. ((MC and MS))
AV, glad you are okay this morning. :)

  5. LOL CM!...... thank God it wasn't me bungee jumping!...... I might have had a heart attack and died in my sleep!..... LOL

  6. Mmmmmmmmmm a long soak in a warm bath, sounds wonderful. I just might try that tomorrow night. Thanks AV. It's also prime hay fever season here at the moment which is also part of the problem but I'm going to have to see if I can find out just what I'm so sensitive to as I need to find a sunscreen I can you safely.

  7. well, being allergic to almost EVERYTHING!..... and particularly the out doors - grass, pollen, fertilizer, etc.... along with most all lotions, sunscreens, makeups, etc....... I have found over the years that the purest (and luckily many times the cheapest) products are the best for me. My dermatologist recommends I use Cetaphil creams and soaps, and they do NOT irritate me. They carry a nice lotion that has a 50 SPF, and they are sold in the local pharmacy......

    http://cetaphil.com/Products/moisturizers.aspx

this is them - one of the most inexpensive products out there, but been around a looooong time, and very pure! Don't know if you can get it in NZ...

  8. Thanks AV, one of the pharmacies here stocks Cetaphil so I must go and see just what their range is. It takes about 10 days for my skin to calm down and if I can find products that won't irritate it then I'll be very happy indeed.
Airy won't be able to use Cetaphil though as she reacts to most parabens. We found that out the hard way when she was a baby and used babies sunscreen on her, she was one large red blotch and cried for hours.

  9. MS, my allergies were killer this year..still are..I wanted to rub my eyes till they popped out not to mention my nose running all the time! blasted allergies...
I am allergic to cats, dogs, dust, some trees, some grass, etc..so I have learned that I am just a mess and to deal...lol.
I hope you get some relief soon!

  10. MS...cold milk compresses always help with itchy, inflammed skin. It works wonders on sunburns, too.

  11. Hi MS, AV and CM! Came to work in the process of you guys posting. I pray today will be a smoother better day!

  12. Aha, Cleopatra must have known something Dee, that's why she bathed in asses milk.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  13. wow I learned something today. Thanks Dee...That's good to know.
Hi MC! Feel better soon honey...

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  14. YW. It's just like how milk is the best beverage to drink if you burned your tongue on something hot...or if you are eating spicy food...instant relief!

I would love to do that, MS. But, for now, I have to settle for that instant milk powder...it really is soothing when my skin is dry and itchy.

Posted 2 years ago by Dee #

  15. Monring everybody, claw-ers, itch-ers, and ass milker (lol)

Oatmeal baths are soothing, so I hear. I get skin rashes easily too, and I got a cream called AmLactin that seems to help. I'm not sure if it has parabens in it or not though...

Herbal products with comfrey might help with the itching, although if taken internally (like a tea) comfrey can be dangerous.

Any news on Wilma? I just logged in and haven't checked other threads yet...

  16. Always learn something from TDK, at least once a day for me. Morning all, time is still dragging like crazy.

  17. Have milky compress on my face now. I hope skim milk does the trick. This could be hilarious if Shadz smells the milk when she comes up to snuggle in the night, I could be woken by the feeling of hot wet sandpaper as she licks my face.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  18. Hey Deb and Siobhan...no updates yet on Wilma, I hope she is better today, poor baby.
Is this your Monday Deb? ((DEB))

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  19. lol at Shadz...mmmm mommy tastes like a bowl of milk....

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  20. MS, Mr. K and I used 1% milk to put out the fire in our mouths the other night after he made a really spicy stew, it worked fine, and it really does work instantly.

Morning, all. I'm in and out this morning, had to check on Wilma first thing, the poor baby. Sending all the white light I can muster her way.

  21. Morning Deb,CM,Siobhan & Dee. Just taken the milky compress off my face and the stinging burn is reduced to a more bearable hum now. That was quick too. As long as I don't touch my face it will be ok now.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  22. Morning CM, Kilroy, Dee, Siobhan, and AV....and almost G'night MS....the milk does work to calm down angry skin and cools down the heat of eating something too hot.

Posted 2 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  23. Hi Kilroy, you slipped in quietly while I was typing.
Yoghurt with a curry helps keep the 'burn' down.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  24. Hi Kilroy! Have a good friday!
    mmmm Yogurt...love it....I have heard white bread helps too...Don't know..I don't eat spicy..I can't handle it..I like to taste my food..lol

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  25. heading out to w**k now, bye my friends!......... definitely thinks there might be a "run" on milk this afternoon...... LOL

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  26. Need more tea..will be back....

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  27. Hmm. Maybe that's why raita (made with yogurt and other stuff) is called 'cool raita' and accompanies spicy Indian cuisine....

I like -some- spicy food...I actually prefer spicy as 'lots of flavor' as opposed to spicy as 'HOT'.

A lot of Indian cuisine is very flavorful with spices, and some of it is flavorful -and- hot (lol).

  28. Morning, everyone, yikes, looks like I happened in at itchy, scratchy, eye-gougey hour. Hope everyone feels more comfortable soon. MS and CM, you just reminded me I get hay fever too, how come I always forget till spring comes around again?

MC, hoping you hear something positive about Wilma's condition today.

  29. (knocks on wood) I have bad allergies too, but right now Chlor-Trimeton is helping me out wonderfully. I also use Flonase nose spray. I have Advair that I use only at night. I think being cooler has been helpful. When it's a hot and humid summer, I really suffer.

I used to have to stay inside a lot when I was a kid, with the windows closed, because my allergies were so bad. When the farmer up the road cut hay, I was in misery.
