Wilma is home! YAY! She was soooooooo excited to see me she soiled herself. The vet had to give her a bath. Poor baby was so scared but so happy to see me. She tried to crawl in the pockets of my shirt. My goodness I was shocked when I saw her incision. Its from the bottom of her neck to her tail! She is almost entirely shaved save her back. Her left paw is shaved for the IV and her neck is shaved where they took blood. She is very spunky and glued to my side. The vet said she no longer has a temp and has her catitude back! She still isn't eating and that is going to be my cross to bear. We have a long road ahead because if she doesn't eat I have to take her back Monday morning. The vet showed me her blood work and I think they tested for EVERYTHING possible in cats, it was three pages of values. All normal. She said she really doesn't have a diagnosis for Wilma but finds that the antibiotics really helped. The first thing she did when we got home was run to the litter box! How exciting! Now, I have to have supervised visits with her and Betty. I pray that goes well and we have no further set backs. Please continue to pray for her, we aren't all the way there yet.

MCW, I agree, she really NEEDS to eat! She is so thin, especially since she is naked. Plus I have to give her meds in her food

Welcome home Miss Spunky Pants, Yaaaaaay.
Awwwwwww that's so sweet that she clung to you MC. It's a good sign. Now, to tempt her into eating, try all sorts of things like fresh meat or fish as well as her favourite tins.Posted 5 months ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

MS, that is exactly what the vet said. She said right now what is important is getting some food and protein in Wilma. If there is something she wants, give it to her! She needs food! She is just so loving, its really nice. She said to tell Fred he can come thru the wormhole and visit anytime he wants!

Welcome home, Miss Spunky Pants. Sending more prayers that she continues to heal and recover. Betty be good and be nice to your poor sister Wilma. She has been through a lot. Give some good cuddles to your Momma. Hugs to you MC. How about some nice stinky tuna or some lovely roast chicken? Come one Ms. Spunky Pants, please eat for your momma. That is so sweet she clung to you MC. Reminds me of my Whiskers who would do the same thing while at the vets with me holding her while the vet told me about her health.

MC if Shadz comes in with a mouse I'll pop it through the wormhole to tempt Wilma's appetite, but don't hold your breath as she hasn't had a mouse in months. If you're having steak just trim some off for Wilma or buy a small amount of fish, if she doesn't like it you can have it.

I'd send some of the pigeon Button was tucking into through the wormhole, but the wretched animal only left a solitary feather...and she's just performed in her tray; there is a green, nuclear cloud hovering around my house now. Yeuch!

LOL @ MCW. Don't you hate it when the cat evacuates and you have to evacuate the house for your own safety.

Good she is home. Now give her tender tum-tum some recovery time. She just had major abdominal exploratory surgery for a major plumbing problem. Just as you would begin with jello and clear liquids, send Wilma back to KMR and move forward slowly to a regular big kitty diet.

This is wonderful news!! Yay, Wilma!!!!!!! You are one tough little kitty. :)
I like the idea of baby food. Maybe she'd like the junior meats? Good luck getting this finicky feline to eat, MC!

Happy dancing that Wilma is home. Now eat some food Wilma! (and then come thru the wormhole and encourage Dara to do the same.)

Joins in the happy dancing. I don't think I could say it better than Kilroy -- YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Welcome home, Miss Spunky Pants! Healing energies racing their way towards you! Does she like grated cheese? Most of my cats have... and cream cheese and whipped cream (oh, so bad for them but food treats nonetheless...)
MC, just a thought but did they test for lead poisoning? Symptoms are gastro distress and depression. I just remembered you saying you lived in an old house, no flaking lead paint anywhere Wilma could have gotten into?
Awww, Dara, you have to eat too! YOu need to get big and strong!
-
Oh Miss SpunkyPants, thank goodness you are home!!!! Now you must eat like a little piggy and get well!!
MC, when my sweet Bombalurina was so sick, there was one thing that she could never pass up. It was raw sushi grade tuna from the fish counter at the store. We would cut it into little slivers and she never failed to eat that. Also, our vet said to get bottled clam juice and see if she would lap that up. She did for a while, but always preferred the tuna.
People have had good luck giving baby food, too. Or, get out your blender and make Miss Wilma some pureed cheezeburgers. Or whatever she likes best!
Many, many hugs being sent.

I agree with Ailuromaniac - it's back to bland basic liquid food for miss Wilma for now. Cats become anorexic when they've been sick and have to be actively encouraged to want to eat again. I think it might also be a time for a syringe and chicken broth, plain, home-made, no salt or spices. After a day or two of that and fluids, mush some plain cooked chicken into it so it's a liquid mush and try her with that on a teaspoon.

I am so glad that MSP is home! But I do hope she starts eating soon! That poor dear, having to go through surgery to find nothing, but certain things did need to be ruled out. You would think she would be soooooo sore and crabby! Sending continued prayers for her and for Betty (and you), too!

Yes, Spunky Pants is Spunky! Betty not so much, she is not sure of this strange shaved 'creature' I brought home!
