My kittens lick me

  1. I have two kittens--litter mates. I work from home and they have run of my office and the bathroom. They are too young and the house is not kitten proof so, this is the best solution for now. My wife feeds and does the major care and they adore her. When I am spending quality time with them, they lick me! Sometimes, when my feet are bare they will lick my toes, face, arms and especially fingers while petting. It is strange behavior because they do not exhibit this with my wife. Don't get me wrong, they do respond to me by coming when I call them or whistle and I am the one that has to keep an eye on them when they get into something but do they not seem to resent it. They are always less than six feet away from me. Am I just another strange, large, two legged cat to them? They were past the 8 week milestone when adopted and born on July 9.

  2. Cats lick others to show affection. They are letting you know that that love and trust you.

  4. Thanks! I understand this explanation however, this is fairly new behavior. It is much like they bite/play/groom each other. The love my wife and are all over her when she comes in and sits down. With me, I am around more and have to make the effort to play and pet the pair. When I do pet them, they lick me. Sometimes, I admit they do walk up and just start licking. I was wondering if it was more of an aggressive behavior.

  7. They like the way you taste vs. your wife---she might use lotion that they don't like the taste of.

  8. Its not aggressive behavior, they just love their daddy!

My two boys act different towards my b/f than they do towards me. They love us both but are very happy kittens when they hear daddy is home and greet him with kisses, loud purrs and very tall tails !
