  1. I just want to say how I found looking thru this site quite helpful in many ways and its a blessing there are so many people who are understanding and helpful.Im needing a bit of advise please. I have a precious baby kitten about 5 weeks old for 6 days now. I have her as her mother was killed. As far as I know she was only kitten born to this mother cat.Ive been feeding her the KMR kitten formula and Ive followed all the information about feeding and care very carefully. My concern is, she had been eating and going potty and sleeping and has been quite active for what seemed 'normal' for the first 5 days but as of today all she wants to do is sleep and hasnt eaten very much and she is crying quite a bit, only once when I was wiping her bottom to pee was it slightly red, but the few times after that it wasnt. Also she has only pooped 4 times in these last 6 days. I dont know if its just me and as a new mom Im being over protective and this is normal, or if I should worry. I do plan to take her to the vet to get seen but I cant do that for another 2 days. Im rather worried and I havent been able to sleep much cuz it seems like such a shift in her behavior even tho I havent had her that long I dont know what to do.

  2. Welcome, Vanny923. There are several people here who have hand raised kittens recently. They will probably be online tomorrow and can give you some advice.

Kittens don't poop every day, especially if they aren't on solid food yet. And they do sleep a lot. She may be lonely or a little cold. Many of the people who have hand raised will put a stuffed animal in the bed with the kitty so she has something to snuggle against. Also, a heating pad (on low) or a hot water bottle helps. Just make sure it's only on one side of the box so she can move to a cooler side if she gets too warm.

She may have a bit of a tummy ache, or she could have parasites. The vet will be able to tell for sure.

If she is eating and peeing okay, try not to worry too much. If she won't eat or she seems dehydrated you may want to see if the vet can see her sooner instead of later.
