Wednesday's "Feel Better" Cafe 9-30

(59 posts)
  1. The kitties were waiting anxiously at the door of the cafe this morning. I chose catering by Cracker Barrel for breakfast goodies...Dunkin Donuts for coffee and doughnuts...and IHOP for pancakes and waffles...other items available on request.
How's everyone doing today? I hope those that have been feeling bad will be better today. We've had too many people "under the weather" lately.

  2. Thank you for opening the cafe LK! I've just finished my lunch, so will be popping in and out as work allows. I'll post the question I just asked on the NS here too :

"Why, why, WHY in the name of all that is good and holy and feline can they not make a yoghurt pot that doesn't explode all over you when you open the damn thing???!!!"

  3. Morning, LK, that's very true, I hope that all those feeling grotty or who are facing medical problems come out the other side into the sunshine very soon, and the same for all sick kitties.

  4. Good morning! I need to pick up and cuddle as many agency kitties as possible. It's picture day and I want to complete my pretty pink suit outfit with cat hair!

  5. Joan, I'm glad to see you know how to accessorize...

  6. Hi there! I still kinda yucky today. My tummy is still gurgly and I am still running to the bathroom. I am staying with clear liquids today just to be sure. Got a freeze last night and the girls snuggled under the blankets though not NEAR each other. Hope you all have a great day. I have an interview coming in here in the next few minutes.

  7. MC, so sorry you're still feeling a little bad, but cuddling cats (even if not together) are still good for keeping the spirit up.
LOL, Joan, you have the right idea...if you're going to have cats, let everyone know with your fashion style!

  8. Hi, MC, gosh, if you have an interview, does that mean you are at work, feeling so yucky? Sorry you're not feeling better. Glad both the girls snuggled with you, in the same bed, even if not next to each other. Hope you feel better soon!

  9. Hello to LK, MCW, JC, Joan and MC!!! BRRRR, we got down to 29 degrees last night...what the $%*%%$#$@?! Hope your tummy feels better soon, MC. Yup, I know what you mean about the yogurt caps, MCW! I always have trouble with mine tearing, too, which makes even more of a mess :0 JC, you are lucky to be looking forward to spring:)))

  10. Yes, I am, Katthays, though there's little sign of it today, it's freezing here too! I am off to my hot water bottle in a minute... Have a great day everyone!

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  11. It's chilly here, too, katthays, but not that cool yet. I dread turning the furnace on, so I'm covering up with a blanket and snuggling with the cats. (Another good reason to hold the kitties close!)

  12. G'morning, won't say how warm it was here last night but its not quite 6 a.m. and its 79F outside. I agree with the issue on yoghurt caps, they suck when it comes to the tops.

MC, hope that you feel better soon and that the upset stomach goes away.

Sitting here trying to convince Max to eat before we have to go, he can't eat all day so he has to get something into him. They won't do his surgery until after noon because he has to have his meds in the morning which of course is in his food.

  13. Our furnace is on, I refuse to be cold :) I fear winter will come early! Have a great day LK, and everyone else!!

  14. I'll be revving up the food dehydrator to handle a large basil harvest this evening :-)

My back is killing me, guys. I could use a couple of hefty kitties kneading on my lower back and butt please (lol). I attended a four-hour seminar yesterday morning in a chair I swear was designed by the Marquis de Sade....I had my heating pad with me, but I couldn't stop fidgeting.

Posted 2 years ago by Siobhan #

  15. Prayers are on the way for you, Siobhan! It is miserable to have back pain! Basil....yum! Waves to Deb....hope Max's surgery goes well!

Posted 2 years ago by katthays #

  16. Hi all. Sio, I'm sorry your back is bothering you so much :( and MC, that your stomach still has the wobbles :( Deb, best wishes for Max with his surgery today.

Would it cheer anyone up if I report that my stupid head finally stopped hurting after about a week of wanting to pound it against a wall?

Could I get some white light for hubby, please? He may have to have a tooth pulled later today (dentist couldn't fit him in yesterday). I'm hoping it's not that dire, but it may be.

I think I'll just help myself to one of yesterday's donuts and some coffee and go curl up in the corner for a bit before I have to start work.

  17. Good vibes coming for Kilroy's hubby.
Our furnace is on too, sigh. I swear I can actually see the dollar bills coming thru the vents...

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  18. Thanks Kilroy, believe me I understand about the headache you have had. Sometimes one needs to just 'break the cycle' so the normal migraine meds will work....I just wasn't willing this week to sit in an ER or Urgent Care room with 'really sick people' to get the shot to do just that, break the cycle. Hope that your hubby's dentist can find a way to save his tooth or at least make it the least painful.

Ok if I had a brain this morning, here is the link for the picture too... http://icanhascheezburger.com/2009/09/29/funny-pictures-your-fierce-protector/

  20. Hi everyone. Sad day today. I just found out that I lost my nephew/niece. My brother's wife just had a miscarriage at ten weeks pregnant. This is so close after the loss of my grandma. I have lost so many family members these past few years. Although the baby was still growing and in the early stages, we all loved him/her and were excited to expand the family and shower the baby with love and care.

Posted 2 years ago by gini #

  21. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, Gini. {{{Gini, brother and sil}}}

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  22. {{{Gini}}} I can identify with multiple losses in a short time.
Hubby hit a bear cub yesterday. Actually, the cub ran into his truck. He saw mama and a cub cross the road, slowed to look for another, while being tailgated, and the little fella ran right into him. He stopped and got out, but by then, mama turned and was coming back. Needless to say, he got back in his truck.

  23. Thank you Kilroy and Joan.

My family has been falling apart. In the last 20 years we have lost my great grandma, great grandpa, grandma, uncle (dads brother), aunt (dads sister), aunt (moms sister), cousin (moms sisters daughter), cousin (moms sisters son)... list goes on.

Actually, my only surviving family right now are my parents, my brother, 2 cousins (with no parents), and my grandfather on my mom's side. My grandparents on my father's side are still alive but they are not on speaking terms with us and I have not seen them since I was 4. It's the same story with my 2 cousins; I have not seen them since I was 4. Therefore the only living family that I can see are my parents, brother, and grandpa.

I wish I had a bigger family. Cherish what you have, I guess. I feel so bad for my brother and sister in law. It's been one hit after another in this family. RIP baby

  24. Wonderfuly Wednesday greeting from M'waukee on sunny but cool A.M. Mmmm Chocolate donut with choco sprinkles & icing for me and a large black java!
Hope all have a happy hump day/nite wherever you roam! Smooches for the tiny tabby at the door!

  25. Poor baby bear, but I'm glad your hubby got out of there, Joan. Last thing we need is a confrontation with mamma bear!

{{{Gini}}} Families are never easy, are they? On my dad's side my only living relatives are my uncle and his wife. Dad's mother decided when my parents adopted my sister that "she's not really part of the family" and she always treated the two of us differently, at least according to my mom. Grammy died when we were pretty young, so I hope my sister never realized what was going on. For other reasons, though, my uncle has totally written my sister off, which is sad.

  26. Morning everyone.
((Gini)) I am sorry for the loss of the baby. That is such a hard thing to have to go through for all involved.
Families are hard. period. Mine really sucks..won't go into details about it but let's just say I talk to only a few and I am better for it. The gene pool is a scary thing and I would not have chosen my siblings if I had to. But hey..such is life.. That's okay though since I have a great hubby, children, his family and the part of my family that I love and talk to, not to mention my friends, so it's all good.
    Hugs to all today!

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  27. Gini, sorry to hear your sad news. The "cousins" as we call ourselves are now the "oldest" generation of the family. We don't see much of each other any more, since we are scattered around, but we still remember the good times we had when we were younger.
Siobhan, that's too bad that you had to sit on that horrible chair and get your back all hurting badly again.
Prayers for those of you who are fighting whatever it is that is keeping you from having a good day.

  28. Keep me on the DL (disabled list). I am still having stomach pains, headache and vague queasiness. Last night the pain was so bad, I had to take a Darvoset at 8 and again at 3. Unfortunately, I had to come into work today so I couldn't just stay at home and try to sleep. Gatorade is my friend right now as it is the only thing that the thought of doesn't make me gag. I'm going to see how the day goes and might call into the doc. I really think it is some sort of stomach virus that will hopefully go away soon!

Morning everyone! I hope the healthy ones enjoy a nice day and that the fellow sickies get well soon!

  29. Good day friends and family ! Feeling ok, just really really tired. Stress that I can't shake... need to say a few things to a few people and maybe some of that will go away.

Yogurt tops - the foil ones. I have FINALLY figured out that if I put a small hole in the lid, opposite the tab to pull it off, it doesn't spit yogurt all over me. Took a long time, and lots of yogurt striped shirts, to figure that one out.

I'd love a virutal French cruller from Dunkin Donuts - make it 3, no calories on here. And a chai tea. I have been keeping a food journal at my trainer's request. ugh... sad some days what makes it into my mouth ! lol

And the weather is finally cooling off.... should only be in the 90's today !!
