Wednesday's "Feel Better" Cafe 9-30

  1. Gini, I am sorry about the baby. Sending condolences to your SIL and brother. As for families, mine is on the dysfunctional list as well. I have some that don't talk to me, some I hear from once every six months, and some I never hear from and only know they exist when we all get together at Thanksgiving. There are some I don't ever care to hear from and those who don't give us the time of day when they pass through our area on vacation. Basically, everyone is too busy for everyone so I spend a lot of time away from them all which is fine by me (although the only person I really miss is spending time with my Dad). With all this said, my favorite saying is the gene pool needs chlorine and mine could do with a little cleaning.

Joan, I love how you accessorize! Nothing is complete without some cat hair and it must always be the opposite color of what you are wearing (wearing white, must have some of Leela on you or if you are wearing black, need to borrow a white haired kitty).

MC, Siobhan, AZDeb, Kykat and anyone else, I am sorry you are all feeling so poorly. Nothing worse than having upset stomachs and hurt backs. Kilroy, glad to hear your head is feeling better.

2Popoki, I know what you mean about stress. I have been feeling it a lot lately with finances, work and living in an apartment complex with a bunch of idiots and selfish gits. With all that piled on, I have been feeling a bit down too. I am trying to work on it but sometimes the blues just take over.

Temperature was 49 degrees this morning! Yippee!! Temps should be in the low 70's for the day. Kitties were their affectionate selves this morning. Made it so hard to leave. I wonder if I could work from home, would I get any work done with these two cats. I know at least my stress level would be way down what with not having to deal with the crummy traffic and poor work conditions (low ceilings, no windows, no fresh air, loud and sometimes obnoxious people). In a perfect world, I would either work from home four days a week and come in one day a week or work four ten hours days at work and have every other Wed or Fri off. Need to buy that darn lotto ticket.

  2. Gini - I'm so very sorry about the baby {{{hugs}}

Kykat - hope you're feeling better soon, that doesn't sound like fun :o(

2P - brilliant! I will try that suggestion tomorrow and let you know if it works!

And hi to everyone else! :o)

  3. Does anyone know how many stamps I should put in a 9 by 12 envelope (those big yellow ones) with 4 pages inside of it? I'd go to the post office but it is about a 45-50 minute walk round trip and I don't have the time.

  4. What are the ZIP codes for origin and delivery points, Gini?

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  5. I am mailing it from 10065 to 12561

Posted 2 years ago by gini #

  6. I plugged "Large Envelope" into the USPS calculator on their site, guesstimated the weight at 2 ounces and put in the ZIP codes and it says that for standard delivery it would be $1.05. If the weight is 1 ounce it would be 88 cents and 3 ounces would be $1.22.

  7. Thanks Kilroy! I will put on 3 stamps to be safe

  8. Glad I could help. I'm such an info geek, I love answering questions :)

  9. For my lunch hour, I literally turned off my lights locked my door and crawled under my desk to try and sleep some. That worked for a little while and then I got really cold. Solution? Went out and lay down in the back seat of my car for a bit to warm up. I'm trying a little campbell's chicken noodle soup. Not making me queasy, but is making me hurt.

2p thanks for the yogurt suggestion. I have some yogurt in the fridge, so I will try your trick when I feel up to facing yogurt!

  12. Hi, Everyone! I'm just peeking in between errands. It's College Night week here so Mr. WWM and I have to go tonight and tomorrow night. The last several years haven't been very productive as far as College Night, but it's something that we have to do, really. The kids the last few years have mainly been interested in what goodies all of the college rep's have on their tables rather than seeking out information on what college they might want to attend. The one that always frustrates me is to have seniors show up who haven't even thought yet about college. ARG!!!

Hugs to everyone who isn't feeling well!

  13. Morning all. I'm working at home today as I have a report I want to finish writing before I go on holiday next week (to visit MS). The newspaper this morning is full of news about the Samoan disaster. There may have been 3 NZers killed. As it is school holiday time there were potentially a lot of Kiwis there on holiday so its a wonder it isn't higher.

  14. WWM, I know what you mean about college nights. Hubby and I have worked those. For a while it seemed every other kid that came to the table said they wanted to major in forensics. Hubby would always say, "You know it's not like it is on CSI." The kids would all assure that they knew, but you could tell that they didn't have a clue!

  15. Wow. My neck has decided to have a major bad spell, feels like someone is stabbing me in the spine. Can't take anymore meds til bedtime. Ah well, maybe a purring Harry will distract me...he's settling in really well, and seems to have agreed a 3 foot exclusion zone with Button & Eric, as long as no-one breaches it there's no growling. Pickle, of course, hates him and runs on sight!

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  16. Sorry about your neck, MCW. Sending you some white light! Maybe some moist heat might help? So nice that Harry is making progress. Someday, maybe Pickle will decide he is ok. Let the house get really really cold and see if they decide to cuddle together for mutual warmth! It works in my house. The only time Gracie and Emma will lay side by side is when the house is cold. I like to sleep in the cold, so we wont turn on the furnace until it gets miserable outside.

    Posted 2 years ago by KYKAT 12 23 #

  17. Oh I know Pickle will come round, she absolutely hated Eric at first and now they're practically inseparable! Harry's just moved off my lap, and instead of retreating back behind the bookcase, is now curled up on a folded blanket next to me. Progress indeed!

Yes, heat usually does help. Think I'll go make myself a hot water bottle and jam that in my neck. Ta!

  18. Max came thru his surgery just fine, there was a lot less bleeding than they thought and they did want me to know he is in stages of kidney failure. Being that he will be 16 this coming month that is to be expected in an elderly gent like he is. I am leaving in a few minutes to go pick him up from the vet clinic.

  19. Great news on Max, Deb! He's keen to hang around for awhile yet.

Posted 2 years ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

  20. Glad to hear Max's surgery went well. Sending healing white light for a quick recovery. My first kitty Whiskers was diagnosed with kidney disease at age 15 and in chronic kidney failure by age 16 years, 10 months and 25 days and passed at 16 years 10 months, 28 days.

Eighteen minutes to go till the end of my work day and I can go home to my cats. Sorry you neck is bothering you MCW. Hope you can get some relief. Good for you Harry for not going behind the bookcase. Hope you are starting to feel better Kykat.

  21. Hi all, just in from work. What a long day. I thought I would be home early and ended up working 12 hours. Oh well, my tummy cramped all day long and I stuck with clear liquids and that seemed to help a little. But now I have a snuggly naked Wilma on my lap and Betty sitting in the doorway giving us the stink eye! Sorry for all who are feeling lousy today, seems to be a lot of us. Gini, hugs going out to you and yours! How tough!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  22. Hi MC - I hope you and all the other unwell TDKers improve soon. Have you taken a photo of naked Wilma? Not that I am a pervert or anything but I would love to see what she looks like. ;-)

Posted 2 years ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

  23. Oh KK, I definitely have tried! I think she is embarrassed! She gets so squirmy when I try to. I need to do it at the vet's next week when she goes to get the staples out. I was gonna have FF take a pix while I held her this past weekend but she didn't cooperate, she hid behind my dresser!

  24. AZ, Max doesn't have to eat a low protein/low phosphorus diet. he can eat a good canned food with low carbs and a chopped up cooked egg white. the egg white will become the phosphorus binder...

Posted 2 years ago by CSBM #

  25. Deb, I'm glad Max came through his surgery OK. Hoping he's with you for a good long time to come.

  26. YAY for Max, get well soon!

  27. Hi everyone!.... I completely missed the NS last night, and that made me sad!.... life is just too busy if I can't check in with my TDK friends!....

....new job is going well!... it's like 24/7, I get home late, and by the time I've cooked dinner, and cleaned up, it's bed time!.....Hubbs is a sweetie, he offered that we eat out, but I just can't stand to!... he does help clean up, and is doing most of the housework now, so I can't complain!......Abbs and Cuddles run to greet me at the door in the evenings, and I MUST give each girl "quality" time in the evenings!..... I can't believe I have to go out of town AGAIN!... this weekend, but it's daughter's college parents weekend, so I must do my duty!.... aarrgghhhh, another football game to sit thru (apologizes in advance if daughter is "lurking).....I almost melted at Sons' two weeks ago!..... makes note to self * put mini fan in purse *.......

... how is everyone tonight? hope I can stay awake for the NS tonite!....

  28. Hi AV - we missed you last night too! I hope you have a decent new hard drive and back-up now. Your life has got rather hectic lately - will you get a chance to relax in your new home soon?

Posted 2 years ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

  29. KK, I just don't know!..... w**k got me a new hard drive, so this whole past week I've been rebuilding what I lost... nice thing is, I got the company tech guys to give all of us a "virtual" folder on our very larger serve, so that everyone can save their stuff to the server, and we'll never loose anything again, should a certain hard drive or computer crash!...

.... I'm still not totally unpacked in the new house, and I have to go to yet another "parents" weekend at Daughter's college this weekend!.... aarrgghh!!!.... after that, I swear, I'm not committing to any other "visits/out of town ventures/events" again, until next year!
