Glamour Editor-in-Chief Calls For Rounder Models

  1. I remember the story you posted before about the one picture that kicked this off...but will they stay with it??? I would really be nice for girls growing up today to see real women. These 7 women are beautiful and fit, just not skin and bones!!!

  2. It is about time. We need some better role models for a fit/healthy look!

  3. Why do they call these lovelies "plus sized"?? They are gorgeous--I'd give anything to look as good as any one of them. They are beautiful, normal people and we should see more of that. Perhaps it would help discourage anorexia in these young gals.

  4. They're all gorgeous. I don't like the whole 'plus size' thing either MACM. I'm a big girl, but I didn't learn to embrace it until I was in my 30s - after my weight yo-yo'd for years. I just wasn't meant to be small. Besides, I'm never short on male attention so I must not be too hideous.

  5. I agree that the young girls of today are waaaay too anorexic leaning and the need for a rounder model is overdue however I worry too that it may pave the way to making it ok for women to continue living an unhealthy lifestyle. These models above all look to be young and healthy but they're not far from becoming heavy enough to have some serious heart or diabetic problems. They are a happy medium and it's a balance that is delicate....maybe too delicate for the busy life of american women who are trying to balance work, the home and families.

  6. I would be thrilled to see 'real sized' women in magazines. How many times have you looked a mag, saw an outfit, and thought "yeah, looks great on her, but she's 5'10" and 100 pounds - I'm not". I have spent too many years trying to be 'skinny' to please men. Yes, a definite hang up. Now, at 50+, I'm not doing that any more. I'm not 'letting myself go', but an learning to love the body I have. Harder some days than others. If this can be taught to girls at a much younger age, I say .. amen !

  7. Yikes ladies, thanks for telling me they were umm nekked lol My luck my boss would walk by just as I opened the picture. But from the short glimpse I got before I closed it I agree with everyone else, I would not call these women plus size. Speaking from another perspective too, I've never been attracted to very thin women and have always been drawn to women with curves because to me that's what they're supposed to look like. When I first met my partner I almost didn't know if I wanted to date her because she was like a size 4 and that was very skinny to me. Then I thought but she has such a pretty face and I like her so maybe we can plump her up a lil bit hehe. 4 yrs later we've both put on the pounds and she's now wearing some of my old clothes I "outgrew" which is closer to a size 12 and I'm even more attracted to her now.

  8. Oops! Well, we didn't know they wuz "nekkid" either! But kudos to you for saying what you did about women with curves. It's what's inside that counts anyway.

  9. frankly, i reallyu did NOT need to see the nudity...it would have been perfectly fine showing them in decent clothes...but then again, no matter what the size, i could do without naked or immodestly dressed women....however, i am very glad that they are at least considering a shot at relaism again. let's hope they follow thru and it takes off. besides..... obesity isnt always soemthing we can help. and it has been noted that just because u appear heavier doesnt always make u unhealthy. in any case, what's worse..the risk of obesity or the current risks of various eating disorders and social diseases that come from trying to look like one form fitted image of besuty? even the indian actresses until recently, and even many now...they are thin, but you can see some belly fat and thighs and such where it woul be unsightly in the west. they are not huge, but they are not usually painfully thin either. and the actreses take on the roles models do in the west as influences. we need to get our priorities in order, and stop focusing on what's outside and how we can show off and promote our flesh for attention, and instead focus on morals and our souls....honestly, not like cult new age talk type stuff. and decorate our bodies with pretty things that cover the bits that should be only intded for our soulmates.
