  1. We bought ourselves a new mattress and base as the one we have has seen better days and no longer offers any spinal support and we're not getting any younger.
Today the new ones were delivered and up the stairs goes the mattress but the base won't fit around the corner and up the stairs. Hmmmmmmmmm, it's the same size as the old one and it went up. Delivery driver does his bit and leaves. Now I have a mixture of old and new mattress and base on two different storeys of the house. I have decided that the stair rail is the only thing that has been added since we took the first bed upstairs so when Me MS comes home from work tonight we'll have to remove the rail from the wall and see if that helps. I really hope it does. Thank goodness we have Airy's bed if things turn pear shaped tonight. Could be an interesting evening with a lot of laughter.

  2. Oh, MS, how infuriating! I am sure Mr MS will be able to solve it, he strikes me as an exceedingly capable chap. I guess you can't dismantle the new bed?

Hoping you don't have to camp out tonight...

  3. It's the box base that's the problem and there's no way to dismantle it. we'll get it upstairs though.
I have a feeling the girls playing jumping games on the old bed helped in it's demise.

  4. But think what a happy childhood they had...

  5. Oh the best laid plans of mice and hmmmm mattresses or box springs! Don't you just love stairs, guess the non-bendy part of the box base is the annoying part. Once its upstairs though, it should be wonderful, so the delivery person(s) didn't take the old mattress and box base out?

  6. They wouldn't take the old mattress without the old base. Let Mr MS know and his reaction was to laugh. Guess I better make sure the drill is all charged for unscrewing the banister rail later. What fun we'll have tonight. :-)

  7. You have got to keep us updated on this one! This is a real comedy of errors!

  8. You could turn your living room into your new bedroom and your bedroom into your new lounge... just thinking outside the box (base) here...

  9. MS!..... I still laugh at Hubbs when I was 9 mos. pregnant with first son, and he bought me a new matress..... it was delivered, and they too couldn't get it upstairs!..... Hubbs not only had to remove the banister, but then had to go to the neighbor and ask for his help because his 9-month pregnant wife couldn't life the bulky thing!.... it was a comedy show!.... LOL.... (((huggs))))

  10. Just starting to unscrew the hand rail now. I'll keep you all updated on the goings on.

  11. I'm on msn with her and haven't heard anything for 1/2 an hour. Either there is laughing or grunting (not dodgy).
Wish she had put the webcam on so I could listen.

  12. La, La, La either they are both lying on the floor in a heap because of the laughter and Shadz is supervising as any good kitty will do, or they are busy still trying to work the box base up the stairwell into the room...

  13. Sounds like they got stuck and are calling in reinforcements. So long as they don't let it slip back down the stairs and take out the coloured glass panes at the bottom of the stairs. Fingers crossed.

  14. OMG! It has taken us 2 hours but the base is up the stairs. I had to go out and get a friend to help and when we got back Mr MS had it up the stairs. He was a lovely red colour in the face from pushing/pulling and grunting. The boys are now putting the handrail back up.
What an evening, thought we were go to have the darned thing stuck there, unable to even shut the front door and have to sleep in the front hall for security.
I'm really looking forward to a good nights sleep tonight. Now I have to go and cook some dinner. Back on NS later on and many thanks for all the support. I'm sure I could hear Airy giggling all the way over there.

  17. Chuckling at Mr AV's good intentions going awry.

  18. @ least now you have a new bed, so hopefully you can sleep all comfy tonight....but then again it may end up that you are too exhausted to notice this evening.

  19. Oh noooo!!!! Between work, school and broken computer I don't get to TDK much these days. Then I get a free minute and read this. I am going to get in trouble for snickering in class like a 14 year-old! I am not laughing at you, but this is hysterically funny. Maybe I'm just overtired. I wish you had some pictures you could post MS. Wasn't Shadz able to give some direction? Oh my....{{{MS}}}

  20. Shadz was in and out the door and up the stairs during the entire process directing us. She was the only one who could slip under the base as it half rested/jammed in the stairs. I was trapped upstairs for ages until I managed to climb over the base and slide under one end. We had a great laugh once it was safely in the bedroom. Tomorrow we have to get something to stop the bed moving, the casters are very free flowing and I'm sure if I sneezed in bed I would inadvertently propel the bed through the wall and down onto the deck below. LOL, the mind boggles! Feel free to snicker KYK.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  21. You can't lock the casters?

Posted 2 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  22. No darn it so we'll just get those little cup to sit the caster in. It will also make the bed a wee bit higher which I like.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  23. Ooh, don't sneeze, MS! That would just mean you'd have to get it up the stairs all over again!

Don't you love the way cats have to help without ever actually doing anything useful? I'm sure they think everything we do is simply for their entertainment and it's their duty to watch...

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  24. I will resist all urges to sneeze as there is no way I want to get that darn base up the stairs again.

    Posted 2 years ago by Moonshadow_NZ #

  25. Just think of the great workout you got, MS!

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  26. What we aren't there for their entertainment value? Oh man, I must have read the instructions wrong again!

Posted 2 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  27. ROFLMAO @ Deb, they've got you well trained...

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  28. jcat, I know, we played the 'let's see where we can get too that is almost impossible to get out of' game this morning.....behind the washer/dryer, the living room tv, etc....

Posted 2 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  29. Awww, they have to keep Mum on her toes or it's no fun... Max and Tess and Abbie used to play that, we used to call Tess 'flat cat' because she could squeeze under things like a cockroach... I know a lot of kittens who love to play that too...

Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  30. Sounds like Kitty, he would not come out from behind the washing machine until I moved it a half inch closer to the wall so his head wouldn't be uncomfy coming thru the little walkway....spoiled kitty. They used to climb underneath the Scandinavian box frame bed I had and when they became adults they couldn't get out because they were TOO big....what a shock that was too them, lol.
