Well my elderly lady Hillies(one of my puppies) has been going down hill for a while. She now needs assistance standing on tile (she can manage carpet and outside but tile is just too slippery) so I have asling with handles that I bought online buckeled onto her. Tonight when I got home from work she was laying in a puddle of urine that particular color it gets when a person is having kidney failure.
It has been a very long and frustrating day already and now we will be going to the vet tomorrow morning for blood work and a UA. I would actually like then to just do a BUN and creat, but am not sure I can be so particular (I just dont have the 125 for a whole CMP and I just need kidney markers) maybe I can convince them to let me use a centerfuge and microscope to do the UA myself.
anyway any prayers would be appretiated

Ale, I'm so sorry. So much sadness on TDK tonight. I know how much you love Hillies and how devoted you are to her. You and Hillies will be in my thoughts tomorrow and I hope they let you do what you would like to re the tests. Hillies seems to be doing good today. She doesnt seem to be hurting too much and is staying near me but that is normal. I am debating takeing her in since I am having to board the dogs next weekend since I am working the whole weekend and staying at the hospital. I think I will call the vet on monday and ask them what they think, I will also try and get some urine from her before I go to work so I can run a UA on it. Its really too bad that I dont have any phlebotomy tools here so that I could draw her blood and run those tests as well.

Oh Ale...I'm praying that this isn't time for Hillies. She's such a sweet, tough old girl. Tougher than we are for sure. I wish you were able to do her tests too. The waiting to know just how she is can be so hard. I'm sending you and Hillies both prayers and white light. Please give her a hug for me and keep us posted. I hate that you're having to stay at the hospital right now. =(

C'mon hillies go ahead and pee for the test....too bad she doesn't use a litter pan filled with aquarium rocks, then you should be able to pour it into a cup....I know wishful thinking.

Prayers from us too. Hope you can get her to go for you.
We had to get those thin rubber backed runner rugs for our old dog when he was having trouble on the slick floors. We had a trail of them through the kitchen for him to get to the back door. I think we got them at Walmart and they were 6 foot long. Not the most attractive but who cares if it makes it easier for the pups.
