i have been raising two newborns and they seem to be doing well i found one of them and then two days later we found the other. im not sure how he survived but hes a fighter. im new at the kitten thing i have always had dogs. i am attached to them now but can't keep them my lanlord is having a fit because i have them now. one of them is doing well eyes are open growing good the other is having a problem with pooing, his little behind gets so red and his poo is hard i feed them KMR, also his eyes aren't opening yet, im kinda worried. i was told i could give him a little mineral oil is that ok. i cant afford to take him to the vet at this time.

Hi, Maggie. Welcome to the Daily Kitten. It's kind of slow here on weekends so keep checking back for posts on this thread.
I added a couple of tags to this thread. If you click on them, they will take you to other threads on the topic of hand-raising orphan kittens. It is a huge challenge and one of the most common reasons come to this website.
Kittens need stimulation to eliminate. Try gently rubbing the genital area with a warm damp cloth just before feeding and right after feeding. That may be all the kitten needs to be able to poop. Kittens don't poop every day and may not produce much if on KMR.

Hi I had the same problem with the KMR. Our little Abby really had hard poops. I worried constantly. I gave her the kat lax from the vet and even that did not seem to help much. I had to give her little enemas with an eye dropper with warm water and a little olive oil. Was messy though so I had to wash her off a bit after with warm water and dry her. Lots and lots of gentle stimulation. I even rubbed her tummy. You can feel the poo in there and just gently try to work it around a little. Really gently. Finally when I was able to get her on some canned food it helped her to have normal poo. She had really loose stools at first on the canned. She was older though before I tried the canned food.

thanks i really messed up, i thought if i changed what they are eating it would help so i bought the Whiskas catmilk not a good idea both of them now have the poos so bad im worried so i think ill stick with the KMR and if the diaharra doesn't stop in a few days ill have to take them to the vet. My boyfriend says im not spending money on them for a vew bill (we really can't afford it) but i hate to see them suffer. i have to find a good home for them. Im in Tennessee Greeneville if anyone lives around here and would give them a good home.

Yes Abby got too loose too when she first went on the canned food. It lasted for a couple of days and I was really worried too. Then she was fine again. I kept giving her the canned food and the KMR and it seemed to equal out and I stopped the KMR. She was much older though.

my kittens are growing up so fast. there 25 days old today and im trying to start weaning them. i put the formula in a plate in front of them and they just walk through it looking for a bottle. i even opened a can of tuna fish trying to get them to eat and they want nothing to do with the plate of milk. any sugestions
