I was reading through snoops today and came accross this gem of a science project: "a 7th grader wins the science fair with a project on the dangers of dihydrogen monoxcide"
My Chemistry training kicked right in and I knew exactly what it is, but could see by calling the chemical this instead of its usual name you can get people to believe that there is a dangerous chemical being used by everyone.

here is the link, though if you can figure out what it is without you are a chemist too, heehee

Oh this is an oldie but goodie... It's so funny to me because I do have a chemistry background. People become so scared and/or impressed with technicalities
