Today marks 4 months since I brought Kaieteur into his forever home. He's about 6mths old now. My how time flies. The thing is when i got him he was a lovely smokey grey with darker grey stipes on his legs and spots on his belly and back. Now he's almost all white. The only thing that remains of his previous color is his raccoon tail. The stripes on his legs are almost as white as he is now, and his other spots and stripes are gone. He has his grey ears and some greyness in his face. Is it normal for a kitty to fade and change so much as he grows?

I'm not an expert, but I noticed with Furl that she became less and less striped as she grew into an adult. Cats can have several different lengths of fur and they can be different colors. Furl is mostly gray with a cream undercoat. She is my only long-haired cat. Kaieteur is a beauty!

Color change is pretty normal as a kitten becomes a cat. Often kitties with "points", ears, tails, paws of one color with a body color of another don't fully come into their colors for several months. Sometimes too an older pointed kitty that gets shaved can have darker hair come in when the hair grows back. I used to have a flame point himilayan that had such a thick coat he had to be shaved twice a year. His pretty white coat became progressively creamier over the years, although his ears, tail and paws remained a pretty rusty red.

hmm all very interesting. Mojo, I'm not concerned about his health at all, as in every other aspect he is a crazy energetic kitty. i was just curious as to whether this was normal or not. I guess it's just his adult coloring finally coming in.
