Morning Joan and AZ!
OY, I'm tired today too. I sat in 'cruel chairs' on Saturday, where I couldn't use my lumbar pillow or my heating pad, and my back is telling me how unhappy it is today :-(
But I had cuddly kitties for my naps on Sunday :-) that always helps.
I get a CT scan on my lower back and pelvis tonight and I have to drink some nasty liquids and fast for four hours prior to the test.

Count me in with the tired crew, plus my stupid head is still hurting. George was curled up in his favorite cardboard box sound asleep when I left for work, and oh! didn't I want to join him.
We did have a nice weekend; yesterday morning I went up to meet Mike after his tennis game at Columbia, and I was amazed at how nice it is up there. The tennis center is right on the Hudson River, and there's a park where we went and sat on a bench for a bit in the sunshine. You never would have believed you were in Manhattan. In the afternoon we took some friends from NJ to the new park in Manhattan, which was constructed on an old, abandoned elevated railroad. It's gorgeous, and one of the things I'm really sorry MCW didn't get to see when she was here.
Sio, I hope the doctors can figure out what's up with your back - hurting is the pits.

Hi Deb & Sio! Leela was extra feisty this morning. I usually get leg rubs when I get out of the shower, and this morning when I went to pet her, she decided to play with her favorite toy - my arm! So I played with her for a bit and it wasn't till I got to work I noticed the many mini-scratches on my arm. No biggie; scratches heal, and quality kitty time in the morning makes the day brighter!

Hi Kilroy! You snuck in while I was typing. I've heard of that elevated park; yesterday was a wonderful day for hanging out in the park.

*yawning* I'm glad I'm not the only one who is tired after the weekend. I took a trip to Illinois to see my sister who is in a nursing home. We had a lovely luncheon, visited, played cards, looked at photos. Her two children (both adults) were there as well. I stayed the night at my niece's then headed home yesterday. Sure need a day just for sleep.

Hi LK & JK! Sounds like a nice day with your sister LK, visits like that are so meaningful, aren't they? *nudges a little grey kit holding, with both paws, a big mug of black java to JK*

Good morning, all! I'm tired too, still trying to recover from the night of 3.5 hours of sleep I got between Saturday and Sunday. I tried going to sleep early last night, around 10:30, but a few minutes later, GG texted me that he was finally home. His luggage got lost, but at least he made it home. We texted til midnight - so much for catching up on my sleep, but well worth it :)

Hi all! Happy Monday! What a day! I overslept by THREE hours! GO figure! Oh well, corporate peeps are here this week from Portland. What an example to set. I am gonna be scarce this week while I smile at them. Have a great day to all the TDK'ers out there!

Welcome CNO741... feel free to start a new thread and introduce yourself. Tell us about your kitties, if you have any.
I'll jump aboard the tired train. How can it possibly be Monday already? I just left work a few minutes ago... ugh.
A hug chai tea sounds wonderful to me. Should be enough caffeine in that to kill the dreaded headache. Kilroy and MC - I don't know HOW you do it!

I brought leftover chinese takeout for lunch today. There was a covered container of entree, and the traditional chinese take-out box for a pint of mushroom fried rice.
Had my lunch in a plastic bag on the floor, and I went upstairs to brush my teeth before leaving for work.
I came back downstairs to find the carton of fried rice about five feet away from the rest of my lunch. Unopened, but with little kitty teethmarks in a corner!
That stinker was stealing my lunch!!

LOL at kitty stealing lunch. I'd want your lunch, too, Siobhan, compared to mine!

Tansey is such a hoot. As she gets older, she is -always- hungry. And she's very very vocal about it :-) She's done that to me before. She's also gone fishing in my purse for money. She once nabbed a twenty-dollar bill and walked around with it hanging out of her mouth, her tail up, walking slowly, as if she were very proud of her new-found riches. "Lookit what I got!"
She was all ready to go shopping at the mall (lolol)

Oooh-oooh, me me!! *hand up wildly* I would like some chocolate too! My tummy is a bit grouchy today. I've tried Yoo-Hoo, and crackers & cheese; still feels not so great. Choco-break time sounds like the next option!

Hi. Haven't been at the cafe in a while. I went to see my internal med doctor this morning for a checkup. It appears that my blood pressure is a bit higher than she'd like to see, given my age. She wants to stop the onset of hypertension before it starts, so she had her nurses draw blood so she could test for diabetes and high cholesterol. Whilst I sat in the vampire chair I saw the needle the nurse claimed was small -- and tried to escape! Another nurse had to come in to distract me. I also got a tetanus/diphtheria shot; I was unaware I needed to get the booster every ten years, but at least I'm covered util 2019. Doc also suggested that I exercise, eat more wholesome foods, control my meal portions, avoid the less-than wholesome options, -- things a doctor is supposed to say that you roll your eyes at when you're in your 20s but you follow as gospel when you're in your 30s. I felt like such a whiny little brat when I complained that the stuff that's healthy TASTED healthy, but the stuff that tasted good isn't so healthy; she gave me a meal-planning guide to add the more wholesome options into my diet and phase out the less wholesome options.

Good afternoon everyone! Today has been a very busy day but a good day. I woke up at 7 AM and had fruits and toast for breakfast. Then I started cutting up chicken, peppers, and other things to throw together a chicken chili...my first time using a crock pot! I actually decided not to follow a recipe at all and just throw in what looked good. I ended up using : 2 can diced tomatos, 1/2 cup spaghetti sauce, 1 can tomato paste, 2 cans kidney beans, 1 can black beans, 1 can corn, 1/2 chopped red bell pepper, 1/2 chopped green bell pepper, 3 cubed chicken breasts, about 1/2 cup chopped green onion, and I threw in various amounts of pepper, onion powder, garlic salt, chili powder, and cilantro.
So far it has been cooking for 6 hours, and it looks like this:

(sorry about the poor quality of the photo...it was taken with a camera built into my computer. I can't find the charger for my real camera)
I can't WAIT to try it. I've had a little tiny bite and its delicious so far. I'll put some sour cream and cheddar cheese on top before serving. Mmmm.
Anyways, after preparing that I went to 3 classes from 9:30-2:30. I had a quiz in my last class (German) that I think I did decently on.
Now I have a bunch of errands to run and some homework to do and then it is time for delicious chicken chili!

*wipes face and puts chocolate out of Vicki's eyeshot* You can do it Vicki. Hehe, Vampire chair, good one! All I have to do is pick at one of Leela's graffiti markings on me and I can give plenty of blood! It's hard to cut some things, but try to think everything in moderation. Moderation is key. If you like lots of salt on something, don't completely skip, just tone it down a bit each time.
I hope Tansey doesn't teach Leela the art of stealing money!Posted 5 months ago by JoanfromNewJersey #
