  1. (More James Joyce in the title) Agency kitties are bouncing off the walls this morning! All I did was come in here and a little tabby with an apron rushed up and asked what I would like. What a spread they've put on the buffet table!
I started my job ten years ago today and I'm sharing fresh baked brownies - enjoy!

  2. Oh, I love fresh baked brownies. I'll take one with a glass of cold milk. Good morning. I hope it's a good day for everyone.
Congrats, Joan, on your 10 years!

  3. Piping hot tea, please, some oatmeal, fresh strawberries, and a pair of warm snuggly purring kitties to start my day. *gets out feather wand to play with agency kits* Oh yes, and a big brownie too, please.

Oh yes, and for everyone's early morning viewing pleasure, have a giggle watching adult cat versus puppy in this video clip that was on my local morning news. Scroll down the page some to launch the video.

  5. Morning all! Congrats Joan!! I hope you have a wonderful day :)
We have the furnace guy here today for our winter check up...we need an ignitor switch and 2 filters....$200.00 for everything....great...sigh..it's always something.
After he leaves, we have to run to the store and then lunch and then mommy needs to collapse...lol.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

  6. Morning Mollycat. Hope you have a good day and feel okay. How is precious Wilma?

Posted 2 years ago by Marnet #

  7. CM, sorry the furnace needs parts but glad you're getting it done before Old Man Winter shows up all cold and colder.

Posted 2 years ago by Marnet #

  8. Wilma is ok, she is still hiding a lot from Betty. She gets her staples out tomorrow!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  9. *gentle scritches to both Wilma and Betty* {{{Mollycat}}}

  10. We have the full of the moon going on, so Rotley decided to "knead" me awake -- at 4 AM. Biscotti and coffee, please, and two sweet little agency kittehs that are very calm!

Posted 2 years ago by Emma #

  11. Awwww Rotley...at least you had a nice awakening Emma...I was up at 1ish and 3:45 to a baby crying :) I think she is getting more teeth..which is great but makes for a tired mommy.
I know we needed the parts but ouch...we didn't budget for them..of course. We got an extra 3 years on our ignitor so we needed a new one..the tech said it might not last the winter and well Ohio does get a bit chilly so we had no choice.

  12. I need a wake up brownie this morning. Had 9 cats on the bed last night, so no room for me and I am tired this morning.

Posted 2 years ago by planetkitty #

  13. Morning, all. Ooh, brownies, yum. I'll take one to go with my coffee, thanks Joan. Congrats on your anniversary. I'm coming up on 12 years here at the end of next month (!)

Sorry to hear about the furnace, CM. Some things just can't be ignored, though, and heat is one in my book.

MC, I hope your girls settle down soon, and that Wilma continues to get better.

Tuesdays are bonkers for me at work, so I may not be around much after 10:00. Hope everyone has a good day.

  14. Good morning everyone! Brownies sound great.. I haven't had one in ages! Mmmm.

Joan, congrats on 10 years! Time sure does fly.

Marnet that video is adorable :)

CM, yikes. I'm sorry to hear about that. I know the feeling though that things never stop breaking. It always seems to be the most expensive things, too.

MC how exciting about Wilma! Hopefully Betty will warm up soon.

Kilroy I hope you have a good Tuesday. What makes them so busy at work?

Nothing exciting here today. The chili ended up being really good last night. Today I have both school and work so a pretty busy day for me. I don't get home until 7:30 PM. I can drop in from time to time on TDK during my breaks and when the child I watch is napping.

Posted 2 years ago by gini #

  15. Have a good day Gini. Glad the chili was good. It looked awesome!
Off to the grocery store...that's always fun...

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  16. Gini, on Tuesdays we cover the reference desk at headquarters in Atlanta as well as our own reference requests in NY; all on the theory that we're really one big happy research family. Oddly enough, they don't have to cover for us...

Glad to hear your chili worked out - aren't crockpots awesome?

    Back to work now...

  17. It's Tuesday and still drizzly/cool M'waukee way! Haven't had a browney in awhile...sounds yummy with my usual black java and a tortie kit for a smooch is my order! Congrats on your 10yr milestone Joan/hope you get some kudos for the track record! Marni, the video was a great way to start my day! Wishes for all to have a great time today wherever you may roam!

  18. Hi, Everyone! Just a quick peek into the cafe as the ladies in my book group will be here shortly. I have everything out and just have to start the coffee. Of course, the last time that they were here I happened to glance in the kitchen just in time to see Willow up on the kitchen island helping herself to some whipped cream!

I think that I have extra goodies, so I can offer cinnamon streusel muffins, lemon poppy seed muffins, carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese icing and fresh strawberries. Unless of course Willow has taken a bite out of everything.

Coffee is brewed and I have an assortment of teas. Come and join us! The book that we read is Midwives by Christopher Bohjalian.

  19. Hello to all who have drifted into the chocolately-smelling cafe today! I get a stipend that equals about an extra $5 in my paycheck - woo-hoo!

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  20. Betty, cats and cream just go together!

One time I baked a huge birthday cake for a friend of mine, along with a beautiful little cake for their "home event" birthday celebration. Just as I put the finishing touches to the small cake, I heard that awful "lickalickalicka" sound coming from the counter behind me.

Daisy, my wicked little Siamese, had devoured two lovely buttercream roses and a large gap now existed on the top of that huge, beautiful cake. With matching paw prints.

Posted 2 years ago by Emma #

  21. WAHAHAHA Emma...naughty Daisy!

CT scan went well, back still hurts, home today to be ministered to by nurse kitties.

I'll take one of those dark chocolate chip chocolate brownies and a glass of cold milk. Num yummy. Happy anniversary, Joan!

Posted 2 years ago by Siobhan #

  22. LOL at the sight of Daisy with buttercream lips and pawprints!
I have a quiet day at work today, but the rest of the week will be busy. We have a lady going on vacation for the rest of the week and I'll be taking over some of her work besides helping another one with some extra work coming in. Oh, well, I always say that's job security when things get so busy.

  23. MMMMM buttercream roses. Nom, nom, nom!

    Posted 2 years ago by KYKAT 12 23 #

  24. Morning Everyone :)

Kilroy, I totally understand the 'covering for others' we have to cover for our out-stations and they 'never, ever' cover for us...

CM, at least you caught the furnace problem before it went belly up, not nice to wake up chilled to the bone one morning if you hadn't and babies don't need that especially.

Going to try and catch a nap before a gentleman comes to install a security door on my front door....this way the kits can look and smell outdoors all they want and I don't feel unsafe while they are doing it.....actually live in a decent neighborhood with low crime but one never knows.

  25. Love the buttercream pawprints! I'm thinking of stenciling pawprints around my house now that it has fresh paint. The walls are all earthy tone; peach, light blue and butter yellow. If I do, I'll go with white - just enough of an eye catcher without being crazy!

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  26. Joan, that is such a good idea! What about mixing the original paint with the white to fade them in a bit, so that the paw prints are one of those "now you see them, now you don't" items? And if you sponge them on with a sea sponge, they will have just enough texture and difference in color to appear.......but not really.

  27. Oooh, thanks for the suggestion & tip Emma! Some areas I might have a tough time getting to, so that would work out nicely.

Posted 2 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  28. Congrats Joan on your 10 year anniversary at work!! CM, sorry about your furnance. Heating is so expensive in the mid-west to east coast. Now my car is my money pit as my electric bill is all of $19.40 for this month. The highest it gets during the winter is $45 because all I am running are electric heaters with blowers on them. One in the living room and one in the bedroom. I rarely run the one in the bedroom. Hope work isn't too crazy today for you Kilroy.

Emma I love the visual of your siamese helping herself to the buttercream roses. Nom nom nom is right! We have a favorite story of how my cousin's cat almost lost one of it's nine lives at Thanksgiving. It seems that my aunt put the turkey out on a platter to be carved and went to get my uncle to carve the turkey. When she came back the cat had splaid itself on top of the turkey and was licking it as it laid on top of it. My aunt asked my uncle to promise he wouldn't get mad and she would tell him something. Well he promised but when my aunt told him about the cat, it was all the family could do to keep my uncle from chasing the cat and taking one of it's nine lives. They ended up rinsing the turkey and pouring more drippings on it that they had been saving. I heard it was a good turkey too. I like Emma's story better though. Lickalickalicka!

Back at work today and everything needs taking care of but some of it cannot be taken care of as we are having some systems issues. Manager has to run off on a last minute trip due to some issues with one of our major accounts. She already made her travel arrangements and all I did was call up a taxi for her. Training new SVP's executive assistant on a new system. Turns out the new EA is having to take care of things while learning new systems. We use Lotus Notes instead of Outlook and she hasn't ever used Lotus Notes. It is a stiff learning curve and she will find out that Lotus is a piece of you know what. We call it Lotus Jokes here at work.

So it is Tuesday and I am already wishing for the weekend. I have meetings from 1-2 and 3-4 and then at 4pm I am having to rush out the door to go to dinner with step-mom and Dad at 5pm and am not too happy about it as usual step-mom has picked some place that I wouldn't normally go to. It is a spanish restaurant with paella, tapas, and stews. Not too sure about it as it mostly has shellfish items on the menu and since I do not like shellfish it it looks like either vegitarian paella for me tonight or an assortment of tapas I am not too sure about. I will go with an open mind. Tomorrow after work I am interviewing at a company in SF for a full time perm position. Not too sure about the company and I don't know if they can meet my salary requirement but thought I would at least check them out. I really wish I would win the lotto tonight (I bought several tickets). Odds are only 1 in 176 million.

  29. *sniff* Only two members of my book group came! :-( Turns out most of them are sick and one even had a heart attack last week that I didn't even know about. No one drank the coffee, or the juice and they only ate one muffin!!! I now have 42 muffins sitting in my kitchen. *whine*

And it was such a good book - I was looking forward to a wonderful discussion.

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  30. Awww, WWWM, that stinks :( If you want, I'll squeeze through the wormhole to TX and you can tell me about the book over muffins and coffee :)
