  1. Morning and Afternoon everyone. It's very windy and chilly here today, so we are just hunkered down inside for the day. I feel like I am running on 1 piston today...been doing laundry, baths, making dinner(crock pot), breakfasts, lunch, changing diapers..need to clean up when the girls go down for a nap and sort the laundry so I can put it away....Somehow, I have gotten busier and busier. 2 kids really do keep you busy. I might try to get a nap in too. I just feel so tired.
    I hope everyone is well.
WWM, I am so glad you saved those baby turtles. You must take a picture and share it. they sound so cute.
Deb, hope Max is good and you are feeling well.
Tina, how exciting for you!!! I would be bursting too. Stay safe and have lots of fun and congrats to your son!!!!
Gini, I hope you shake that feeling. I have awoken with that kind of feeling and it's not fun.
    Hugs to all!!!

  2. Good morning all. Wow, AV what a morning! I had a very nice time with my parents celebrating my step-mom's birthday. The spanish restaurant turned out to have very good tapas and we shared several differnt plates. We had shrimp in garlic butter sauce, artichoke hearts sliced and sauteed, fried chicken sticks (chicken minced inside a fried batter), some sort of potato frittata, a nicoise salad (who would have had that at a spanish place but it was good) and dessert I had chocolate mousse, my step-mom had rice pudding and Dad had flan. We had a wandering musician come in and we chatted a bit with him. We found out he was recently coming from Mexico traveling with a cuban guitar. He was in the US to arrange for his social security benefits and because he couldn't afford to live on them in the US and was going back to Mexico where he could at least live okay. I assumed he had worked all his life in the US as his English was impeccable and was just collecting what he was due for paying into the social security system all his life. The man sang along with playing his guitar and he had a fantastic voice. My father likes to sing so he hummed a little along with the guy who didn't seem to mind and in fact egged my Dad on at times. My dad gave him a small tip for all of this. It was a very enjoyable night. When I got home around 8pm, much to my cat's dismay I discovered I was all out of wet cat so I hightailed it back out to the Petco store.

Today I have to go to DMV and pay highway robbery to do my annual car registration. Last year it was $228 and this year thanks to Govenor Arnold (who I didn't vote for) it goes up this year to $323. That is part of the fun of living in California. Our state governor seems to think that everyone is well off like he is and can afford to live in California. I am being priced out of my home but I cannot afford to move unless I were offered a job before I moved and since I don't know anyone who would do that for me, I have to grin and bear it. Oh well.

Anyways, the weather was 66 degrees at 8pm last night but it did cool down to 48 degrees. Today it is suppose to be around 74 degrees so we are warming back up a little. Mid to upper 70's for this coming weekend or so they forecast. Speaking of weather, congrats to your son, Tinafish! You must be proud. Have a fun and safe trip.

Gini, hope you can shake that feeling. Try to maybe go look at some photos that make you feel good or just hug Feeny and Taco. Cats are always good for helping one feel better.

Deb, hope Max is continuing on the mend and that he continues to maintain his health.

Sounds like you are having a bit of storming out your way Joan. Batten down the hatches and sit by the fire with Leela.

I am trying to be good and bought some cheerios cereal. I had two small bowls of it with 2% milk and a nice fuji apple for breakfast. I will eventually try 1% milk and then in a bit try to get down to fat free milk. I really need to lose some weight (total is around 85 lbs but that will take me at least a year or so to do so I am starting off small so as not to demotivate myself by feeling deprived).

  3. SMM the Tapas sounds yummy! Glad you had a good time last night. Good luck on the healthy eating. I have carnation instant breakfast every morning, but just can't bring myself to do skim milk. 2% is as low as I can stand. It doesn't help that my cousins used to own a dairy farm and I know what REAL milk should taste like!

I just got back from a program at our library. It was lunch and discussion of the book To Kill a Mockingbird. Wonderful book and good discussion. There were awesome chocolate chip brownines in the lunches. mmmmmm.

Now I want to just sit back and take a nap!

  4. Hi!! I came down to give the girls their afternoon treats and to make a cup of tea. When I called the girls Windi came running, but Willow was missing in action. That can only mean one thing - she has gotten stuck in a closet. After opening several doors, I found her in Mr.WWM's closet. He is in big trouble with her for not knowing that she was in there, thereby causing her treats to be late!

    Back to work......

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  5. Aw, poor Willow! Treats are very important, after all. Glad you found her, WWM.

  6. Poor Willow is right! I closed poor Mia in my closet this morning. She started scratching the door (her favorite thing to do) and I heard her. I have also closed up Sylvester in the same closet at different times. They stealthly slip in when I am not looking and I close the sliding mirrored door. Because of this I always check to see where they are before I leave for work.

Kykat, I am not sure I can get down to the fat free or even the 1% this time as I have gotten to liking the 2%. When I was really healthy 10 years ago, I drank only skim aka fat free milk. We will see how I do.

I had been eating Pop Tarts for breakfast at work which are definitely not good for you. I also would buy the granola bars from the vending machine that say Nature Valley on it or something like that. The granola bars fool you into thinking they are healthy but they are not as they have too much fat and calories for it to be healthy.

MC, I forgot to say, hope you catch Miss Wilma later so that she can get her staples out. Wilma, let your Momma catch you as it will make you feel better. Those staples must be quite itchy or uncomfortable now plus you might get some treats. mmmmm!

  7. Hello.... so late for the breakfast cafe it's already past lunch ! Currently munching on a honey crisp apple - yea! They are finally in the stores again. I splurged by getting them - $3/pound! YIKES ! I am a skim (fat free) milk fan. Have been drinking it for years. Changing ones eating habits is not an easy task. I wish you well on your journey to healthy eating and weight loss, SMM !

  8. Oh, it's just not a good day for my girls! The doorbell rang which sends Windi skidding under the nearest piece of furniture. Now Mr. WWM and I are both in the doghouse because it was the postman at the door leaving me a box of bicycle stuff that I had ordered. Windi is very hissed off about that!

  9. It's 54 here and it's been hissing it down most of the day. Not too cold, just nasty and clammy.

Went to the Dr. this pm - sore and swollen wrist, ears not right. He gave me anti-inflammatories for a month and told me to wear a bandage or brace on my wrist. The ears? Apparently I'm getting old and they're wearing out. The only good thing about getting old is that the alternative really sucks!

  10. Old, PM? What's that? Not you, that's for sure. Sorry about your wrist, though.

    How's Pickle doing?

  11. Evening all, just checking in briefly as I wasn't about yesterday. Not feeling great, had first acupuncture session today, they said I may well feel stiff and bruised especially after the first time, and they were right - feel like I've been given a good kicking :o(

  12. Ooh, youch MCW! I hope it's ultimately helpful and not hurtful.

    How are you otherwise?

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  13. Hi Kilroy! Well, from the waist down, not too bad I s'pose! How's things with you?

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  14. Not too bad, work bonkers, life otherwise good. Counting days until I have 2 weeks off :) Will probably start counting minutes after a while.

  15. I got out and spent a little time in the park in the wind and it helped me shake that feeling a bit. However, I have had a few pieces of bad news since. I need to get a physical last moment this weekend for my yoga course at school due to a new rule so that means spending money and finding a walk in clinic since it is too late to find a real appointment. Then I burnt myself when putting a whole chicken in the oven on the oven rack. My thumb is red and has a small blister on it. Finally, I have a very sore throat and even 7 16 ounce cups of water and 2 8 oz cups of tea hasn't been able to help it yet! At least my school day was easy and I didn't have work today so I could try to gather myself together. Homework time while dinner cooks. 1 and a half more hours till the chicken is out of the oven! We got a huge perdue marinated rotissary chicken on sale at shoprite for less than 5 dollars last weekend! I love sales. It's great because it will feed us tonight and give us leftovers for soup and chicken salad the next few days

  16. Oh Gini..not a good day is it. Hope you have some aloe to put on your burn or some neosporin. Hope the roast chicken tastes extra good for you. I think that is strange that your yoga class didn't give you notice about the physical when you signed up for the class. To make a new rule without any reasonable notice at your expense doesn't seem right. I would take it up with the physical education dean about how it is impacting your financial situation. Sending you some hugs and healing thoughts.

Everything is getting so difficult. I got a notice in the mail a couple of days ago about rabies license fee for my cats. It seems my city requires all cats and dogs to get a shot and license. When I took my cats in for the physical, I wasn't even asked about the shot, just that they require it and the vet gave the shot to my cats. I couldn't even refuse. My cats aren't outdoor cats but because they figure cats will try to get outside, that it is for all cats. I mentioned to the animal control rep when I called them that this was the first time I had heard about it and why now when I had lived in my city about four years. Their answer was some vets notify the animal control and some do not. So I now know that my first vet is the ones that didn't notify and the new ones do. I definitely done with this vet's office and I am not going to pay the license fee as I am hoping to move when my lease is up come Jan 31st. I wouldn't pay it if I was going to stay.

W**k is just a pain in the you know what today. Being pulled in five different directions. Almost made to feel guilty about leaving on time yesterday (and probably will today too).

  17. Pickle is growing fast and is becoming more and more inquisitive. She will jump onto my lap to see what's on the computer, and she is so greedy she will try to eat the food from my fork as it is on its way to my mouth!
Garbo still doesn't want to know her. Pickle really wants to play, but every time she comes anywhere near Garbo she is rewarded with a growl and/or a hiss. If she comes too close, Garbo lashes out at her.
I have been able to stroke her a couple of times, but that very unusual. She will come over and sniff me, or walk over me, or sit on the back of my chair, but I am still not permitted to touch her.

    Posted 2 years ago by Pollys_Mum_in_UK_2605 #

  18. LOL @ PM!.... there are rules, you know!......at least she's "sniffing" you and sitting on the chair back...... one day she'll "decide" to change the rules, and let you pet her, I'm sure of it!..... I had almost give up hope that I would have another lap cat, but finally, in her 4th year, Abby has decided that my lap is "the place" to be!.... LOL... and don't I love it!!
