  1. What a day! Wilma will try a girl's patience! Her appt was at 8am this morning and I got up at 4am to catch her. Come 730am there was still no sign of Missy Wilma anywhere. Finally I caved and went into work. I called the vet and she said "Mom, calm down". She reassured me that Wilma had about a week of grace time before the staples became a problem. She said when I found her to crate her and bring her in. No matter when. I was in distress all day at work wondering what I was going to do! I came home from work, threw myself down on the bed in anger when I heard an angry "MEOW!". I had flopped right on top of Wilma. I played it cool, snuggled with her, got her trust and snatched her up. Off we went to the vet. She was NOT amused by this. The vet flipped her over and gasped as there was blood on Wilma's tummy. Apparently Wilma has been chewing at the staples and her incision was infected. Having not seen her much, I wasn't able to monitor this. She started to open back up and the vet said that she needed to leave the staples in. I said there was NO WAY I was getting Wilma to come back again. She cleaned out the wound (it stank) and took out all the staples. She then put in a "glue" to hold it together. Wilma then got more antibiotics, an appetite stimulant and some lovin's. Her temp was normal but she had lost ANOTHER 1/2 lb. So now Wilma is confined to the bedroom where I can strictly monitor her intake, output and status of her wound. We don't have to go back unless it continues to drain and/or Wilma doesn't eat. The vet also thought this way Betty would leave her alone and Wilma could relax and rest. The final biopsy result was a hyperplasia of the cells of her intestines. Essentially it is a non cancerous change in the cell structure. She said we will just keep an eye on her and keep testing to a minimum. Prayers are certainly still welcome!

    Second...whew...you found her..silly kitty..under the blankets :) Cricket goes there when someone comes over. Sorry that her wound is infected, poor baby..but at least you have confined her and can watch her now and find her if need be. She and you will be in my thoughts and prayers always Amy. I am just so glad she is okay and hope the infection clears up soon and she starts eating like a little piggy :)

  6. I'm with everyone else, THANK GOD IT'S NOT CANCER!

    Poor Wilma, can't you just see what went through her little kitty mind - phew, foxed Mummy, now I don't have to go to the vet and I can come out and relax. Then, all of a sudden, rude awakening when Mummy flops right on top of you. Then Mummy makes it up to you with cuddles and petting but... oh no! Curses, foiled again, she's CAUGHT you and stuffed you in a cage. And you thought you'd escaped the dreaded V-E-T... Heck, if you can't trust your own mum, who can you trust? lol...

    Sorry that her incision got infected but VERY GLAD it's nothing worse. Sending more healing energy to little Wilma, to get on the road to recovery and scamper down it! {{{MC and Wilma and Betty}}}

  8. Yay for Wilma!!!!
    Yay for MC, too, for being a GOOD mommy! :)

  9. Awww, MC, you are so NOT a bad meowmy. I bet Wilma will be upset with you for all of five minutes ;-) Sometimes children and kitties just have to accept that meowmies know best, even if it means the doctor, the dentist or the V-E-T!

    Posted 2 years ago by jcat #

  10. She sure gave me he**! The vet said she was saying things that good kitties shouldn't!!!

  11. Oh, Wilma, were you being a little trash mouth? Where did you learn to meow like that?

    Posted 2 years ago by CheetahBoysmommy #

  12. She did talk some "trash"! I think the kitties at the vet's office!

  13. prayers for all involved...

  14. Well you just tell precious Wilma that you truly understand and can relate. Remind her how much you need her support and comfort and that she has your full loving support and comfort. She'll understand even if she does trash talk you in reply and attitude for awhile. That's the privilege of small children and animals!

  15. Glad to hear that it isn't cancer and that it is treatable. Hugs to MC and lots of cat treats to poor Wilma. Where did you learn to talk with such a toilet mouth and to the poor vet. Oh my ears and whiskers says Mia and Sylvester.

  16. Oh, Wilma - don't you know that your mama had to take you for your own good? No, I guess you don't know that but she loves you so much. And you must be a good girl and take all of your medicine and get well soon. So many people are praying for you - can't you see us?

    Don't hide too much and let mamma love you. And get well soon, little girl!

  17. MC -- you're not a bad meowmy! Wilma was sure making life difficult for herself, but you stuck with it and got your kitty to the vet.

  18. So Wilma can cuss like a sailor! Glad the diagnosis was better than previously. Sending her lots of healing energy. And a good nights sleep for you.

  19. Wilma was so sweet and snuggly it was crazy! She came on the bed with me and absolutely loved me. It was so nice to see her acting loving again. She wasn't even mad at me. Eventually Betty's body slams into the door and wailing made me leave Wilma to rest in the bedroom and me to attend to Miss Betty. I ended up sleeping on the couch and Wilma IN the bed. I tell you the things we do for our cats!

  20. hey there,

    I just been doing a catch up on all the stuff that's happened to Wilma...poor poor girl. I am so happy for you that she doesn't have cancer...my little willow got sick again too and apparently he has IBD. He has been better for four days now but he just wants to eat non-stop - it's driving me nuts. Maybe cause he's lost so much weight he is starving. anyways...I really hope Wilma can get all better. I can tell you love her very much.

    Posted 2 years ago by jessij #

  21. Awww, I knew she would forgive you, she loves her Meowmy. And so does poor Betty. But poor MC too! it's bad enough trying to sleep well in bed when your head hurts -- let alone sleeping on the couch. {{{MC and Wilma and Betty}}}

    JessiJ, so sorry to hear that your poor Willow has IBD. I wish I knew something about it but I'm afraid I don't have any experience with it. I hope it can be treated so Willow can get back to being the happy beautiful kitty he's meant to be! {{{JessiJ and Willow}}}

  27. I am so glad to hear that Wilma is getting better and returning to her old self. Hopefully you will even get to sleep in your own bed soon! :-) Special scritches to Betty as well so she will soon have her playmate back.

  28. De lurking to say how glad I am that Wilma doesn't have lymphoma! Been praying and hoping for good news. Hopefully she leaves the wound alone now and lets it all heal up.

    Posted 2 years ago by metsa #

  29. Glad you got her in and got the wound cleaned up. Sorry you didn't get any sleep though. I hope tonight is better.

  30. Finally got home and found Wilma all tucked and snug in my bed! She loves sleeping under the covers, I think her belly is COLD! There is snow in the forecast for the weekend! She ate all her food I left her that had antibiotic in it, drank her water, and left lots of poop in the litterbox! I think she is on the up and up! Betty is body slamming the bedroom door and bothering Wilma. I told her that her sister is in one room and she has the run of the whole house! Go figure! KIDS!
