  1. Good morning, all. Haven't started the cafe in a while, so I thought I would! I'm catering in Cracker Barrel today and diving into a hashbrown casserole. Bobby and Mi are at the cafe waiting for someone to pay them some attention as their mama hasn't been home much the last couple of days between dog-sitting, work and GG.

    How's everyone today?

  2. Morning GD! MMMMM Cracker Barrel....
    *scritches to Bobby and Mi*
How are you today GD..hows GG? Glad he's back I am sure :)
Today we plan to go to a farm with the girls and pick some pumpkins for them. That should be fun!

  3. I certainly am, CM. He got back around eleven last Sunday and I hung out with him Monday, Wednesday and yesterday. My landlord is having someone come treat for bedbugs soon but until then I'm still without a bed - I'm not getting a new one til I am sure the bugs are gone. So that gives me a good excuse to stay with GG :)
He's coming into the gym this morning to work out, but he's got a hockey game tonight so I don't think I'll see him.

Just got an email from Auntie Ellen. She was offered a teaching job and thinking about taking it. I'm happy for her, but it's ironic that I quit my job to play tennis with her and now there's a good chance she'll take a job and not play :(

Sounds like a fun day, CM! We'll be expecting pictures :)

  4. Morning GD and CM!.... a lazy Sat. for me, I have to pic MIL up from the airport around noon, then head over to my nieces' 5th B'day party!..... other than that, nothing pressing!.......

This is where we are going today..apple picking...mazes and hay rides :)
Morning AV!!! I never have a lazy day anymore...have one for me please..

GD, I don't blame you for not wanting to get a new bed yet...bed bugs are nasty!
They travel on clothes and in suitcases or something like that so be sure you check your stuff!!

  6. Morning, Everyone! We're off to the AirSho today but are waiting for it to warm up a bit. It's a very chilly 47 degrees out right now. Later it's supposed to be sunny and in the low 80's. We saw lots of the WWII airplanes in the sky yesterday making their way to the airfield. They have the most distinctive sound and it's always fun to see them overhead.

  7. Morning, AV! A lazy Saturday sounds nice.
I'm working 8-1, running home to give Bobby his pill, running to walk the dog and then meeting my friend at Panera. Hoping to do a ton of laundry the rest of the day. The plan is to wash every piece of clothing I own (fun, right?) to hopefully kill any bedbugs that may be living in it.
I was annoyed yesterday because after I spoke to my landlord, he went to my place to spray. I had asked him not to, because first of all, I don't want the boys there when they spray and second, I'm so afraid they'll run out the door and take off - he'd have no chance of catching them, at least not Mi.
He did fix my running toilet, though, so I guess that's a plus!

Did I mention I'm tired? Yawn! I went to sleep around one and had to get up at 6:30 :(

  8. Thanks, CM - I'm checking everything and throwing out a ton of stuff - Bobby's blankie included :(
And while I certainly don't want to bring a new bed into my room yet, there's also the fact that until I do, I can stay with GG :)

That sounds like a fun time, WWM. How come you get so lucky and have such cool weather? It's nasty and in the 90s here :(

Posted 2 years ago by GreatDane #

  9. CM, that place is absolutely beautiful!.....

... WWM, I love air shows.... here in Tampa, we have the Central Command center for the entire Air Force at MacDill AFB..... they do amazing air shows...

....GD, Bed bugs are a real bummer!....I hope they're not in your other furniture - couch, chairs, or carpeting!...... you might have to "bomb" the entire apt. to really get rid of them, but you and the boys would have to be gone for 2-3 days.......

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  10. Bed bugs suck, AV!!!
I got rid of my mattress, box spring, bed frame and head board in addition to two big rugs. The rest of the place is tile. It's so nasty, I really just want to get rid of everything I can't fit into the washing machine!

  11. CM, I want to come with you to the festival!!!

I wonder how MC's date with FF went last night?

  12. Good Morning all, I am sooooo pooped today! I also have a horrendous headache. I think it is the hard frost we had. Looks like snow on the front lawn. Went to bed around three and was awakened by a very SPUNKY Miss Spunky Pants! She was playing with a ball with a bell inside and slamming it into the wall! Then she flipped her water bowl! The last straw was when her and Betty decided to play "paws" under the bedroom door. It was cute to see them playing together but with a door between them. Finally I caved and said it was time for the reintroduction of the girls. I opened the door and Wilma bolted OUT of the bedroom and Betty bolted IN the bedroom. Wilma has been sniffing every little thing since she came back out into the main house. They were even able to sit next to each other peacefully for about thirty seconds and then it got the best of Betty and she slapped Wilma. Wilma hissed and it all went downhill! LOL

Had a really nice time with FF last night. He was ONLY four and a half hours late picking me up! He was doing a remodel job at his real estate lady's house and it turned out to be a real JOB. He wanted to leave and she kept telling him she needed this and that done. He couldn't really leave cause he drove her there too. (She is in her sixties and like a second mom to him so he felt guilty about stopping). Finally he made it here and he was speechless! He said "wow! you look amazing! really amazing!" (see I have lost 17lbs in a month so this was the first time he had seen me in something besides my work scrubs or workout clothes!). I said "will I be ok tp introduce to your friends?" he was pleasantly surprised and off we went. We ended up going to some concert in Chicago of a band of his friends. The sign said sold out and I was bummed as there was a line all around the building. I thought four and a half hours late and we aren't getting in after all. He just grabbed my hand and we walked passed everyone and went up to the bouncer who told us "sold out". FF flashed something to him and he immediately took us inside. I guess it helps to know people!!! Wow, I really did feel old. All the guys in the band had gray hair and most of the people attending did too! It was a good time and then we went to a bar to hang out afterwards. It was difficult to see a guy a few years older than me with Parkinson's disease (the lead singer of the band has it and it is very obvious to me as I work with a lot of Parkinson's patients). I think I was a hit and the whole evening a success! YAY! I passed one test with FF! He then wanted me to go with another buddy and him today to St. Louis to a Cardinals baseball game but I had to pass. I have things that I have to do like be with my girls!

Please pass me some pancakes and warm maple syrup and hashbrown casserole (if you left any for me GD!) Send Bobby and Mi here to play with the girls, they will LOVE it. Have fun WWM, AV and CM! You sound like you have busy days as well!

  13. MC, that is wonderful!! yay..I am glad you had a great time and I am glad Spunky pants is Spunky!!!
GD you can come :) It will be so much fun...they have apple butter ribs...OMG. I have to try those.

  14. Yay for you, MC!!!!
I read something yesterday and thought of you. It was a man's point of view and he said that when women don't dress up a bit for them, they don't feel like we think they're important. Anyway, it kind of made sense, and I changed out of my gym uniform before going to see GG last night, eventhough I didn't get there til 11:00 and we didn't go anywhere :)

Sounds like you did great meeting his friend and indeed passed the test. That's awesome!

I'd love to send you Bobby and Mi - seems they'll have to go to XBF's again if the exterminator is coming to the house sometime in the near future. I'm sure they'd rather go to Betty ad Wilma's. They may be a bit worried Betty will slap them like she does her sister, though...

  15. OOH, scoot over GD, I am coming too! I love going to the Orchard! But don't tell FF, I told him I was too busy to go to a baseball game today!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  16. MC, you are more than welcome. I hope they have face painting and such...that will be so much fun for Maddie...it's only supposed to be 57 today so it will be that crisp fall weather too. Maddie has on a beautiful kitty hoodie that Rubia sent her last year, she finally fits into it. It's so fluffy and warm!!! So it's perfect for today.
I am so excited to do this today..I always wanted to do this when I was a kid, but never got the chance..I am living through my kids :)

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  17. Maddie looks like she is big for her age, tall and slender. What size does she wear now? I bet she is cute in that hoodie! I have a hoodie on too but not a kitty one! :( Have fun, I always wanted to go to an orchard too when I was little but there were none south where I grew up!

  18. Good afternoon everybody! Sounds like a good date CM, glad GG's back GD and CM, hope you have a lovely day out with the girls!

I have been wood preserving our new trellis, done all the uprights, leaving the trellis itself til next weekend (weather permitting, but long range forecast is good), so's I can supervise Harry - I've decided to let him loose on the outside world from next weekend, he'll have been with us three weeks by then, so ought to know which side his bread's buttered! Anyway, I'm pleased with how much I've got done, so I've just treated myself to a chocolate eclair to celebrate :o)

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  19. MC..she is super tall for her age..they are predicting her to be close to 6 foot tall..she's in a 4T now pants and shirts..but I expect her to be in a 5T by spring..that girl grows so fast!

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  20. Hi MCW!! Harry's been with you 3 weeks already? wow..time has sure gone fast. So glad you have him though. Good for you getting all that done, I think a chocolate eclair is in perfect order :)

  21. Morning everybody! YAY for the date, MC. CM, have fun wif da fambily today! I know I'm feeling like myself again: I drove to Shipshewana after work --in the rain all the way-- but I had a great time at my favorite bulk food store. I got great deals on white rice, instant taters, yellow split peas, etc. Also got two small (8") pies (peach and pecan) for dessert :-)

Then I went to the Farmer's Market this morning: CRISP outside! Real snap of Fall in the air today. Lots of fog; would be spooky in the country :-) I got brussels sprouts still on the stalk (!!), squash, punkins (even a pink variety!), fresh cider, etc. Lots of wonderful produce this time of year. The popcorn guy was there, and the bratwurst with grilled peppers and onions guy was gearing up. Yummy sausage smells (lol). Would go great with that hashbrown casserole, is there any left? With extra cheese? :-)

  24. LOL at Siobhan!! It WAS good... :o)

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  25. Morning Siobhan..yay..glad you are feeling better. mmmm peach pie!! I love farmers markets..so much fun and good stuff too.
Sorry MCW..I just jumped ahead of myself didn't I..How are Eric, Button and Pickle with Harry now?

Posted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

  26. Eric and Buton don't seem to mind Harry at all, Pickle is still very wary and meowing loudly sraight in his face...which doesn't go down too well with Harry, because he's still pretty undure about the whole damn lot of them!!!! Still, it's a little better than it was a week ago, so I know we're heading in the right direction!

  27. Today's a cooking/kitchen day for us. Guess I have the 'nesting' instinct, with all the pantry staples I bought yesterday (lol). Got lots of pasta to put away, and produce to work with. I want to roast some chestnuts this afternoon and get them ready for snacking next week.

We're going to do broccoli and bacon quiche for dinner, with side salads. And peach pie for dessert. I think we have 'nilla ice cream left too. :-)

  28. WOW! Three weeks MCW? Where did the time go? Crazy! I am glad he is adjusting to life with you so well! CM, Maddie is growing like a weed, what DO they put in those chicken nuggets at McDonalds? Sio, so glad you are feeling better, I love to shop at bulk stores and farmer's markets. I am a bargain hunter for sure. YAY! I just checked Wilma's incision and it is closed and clean but for where one staple was. The rest has healed up beautifully. I am so proud of my Wilma, she was knocking on the door at the bridge about a week and a half ago and now she is Miss Spunky Pants again!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  29. Wahahaha! Pickle is expressing herself very well, isn't she?

Posted 2 years ago by Siobhan #

  30. YAY Wilma! I'm sure Betty's realized her old friend's back, or they wouldn't have been playing toetag under the door :-)

SALE is my middle name, I swear!
