  3. Beautiful, how lucky that you got to see him :)

  4. I watched him chomping away at our blackberry bushes for about 20 minutes. I don't know how long he'd been there before I noticed him. Deer sometimes bed down in our back yard. It is steep and left "natural." We don't go back there so it is pretty inviting to critters. :)

  5. Wow, he's a beauty! I'm glad your backyard is inviting to critters -- I love seeing animals in their somewhat-natural life!

  8. A couple of the kitties were sitting on the window sill while I took pictures, but they didn't react to it.

  13. Being that I've never seen any bucks,(or Bambi's) up close and personal....... would that be an eight point buck???? Like the kind that are sought after by the hunters??? How amazing to have one in your back yard..... and that you got the photo. Hopefully he hangs around in your safe haven.

  14. I'm not sure how points are counted on a buck. He's at least an eight point. Sure looked well-fed. :)

  18. I called my Dad tonight. He used to hunt when I was a kid. He said he only counted the points on one side. I guess in other places, both sides are counted. Who knew?!

WMM, yes, he might be Bambi's daddy. There are always a few fawns in the neighborhood each Spring. :) I'm not going to try to feed him anything. He's already doing very well on his own. lol

  19. What a magnificent beast KW. Here we count all the point and from what I can see he is an 8 pointer. To have something that size browsing in your back yard is really special.

  21. Those really are wonderful pictures. When I lived in rural New Hampshire, we would see deer walking across the street, occasionally. One snowy Nov. morning while it was still dark, I opened the window to let my cat Daphne go out. She jumped on the sill, then froze-- because I couldn't see well I was about to shoo her back in and close the window, when she took off in a fury. Well, turned out that it was a deer passing through (the first one I had seen after moving there), which I only realized after it strolled under the street light. Of course, until the day she died many years later, Daphne boasted of chasing a deer out of our yard. :)
