My mom just sent me an email to let me know that she will be traveling from Orlando to the West Palm Beach area to see her oldest sister, who is not expected to be here much longer. My Aunt Dot is 81/82 (I don't know exactly - my mom is 79) and my mom is very upset at the thought of losing her big sister so I am asking for whatever prayers you can spare to make this easier for all of the family. Aunt Dot has not had a good year and if I know her she is looking forward to all the pain ending, but it will just be beginning for my mom, and I am worried about how she will deal with this. Thanks, everyone!

I understand the situation perfectly, Karen. I've gone through this twice now with my mother, and am watching her health deteriorate too. Sending wishes for healing for your aunt and mother, and the peace and understanding that acceptance brings. Praying that you too will recieve this comfort. {{{Karen}}}

I understand that completely. My mom has watched her oldest brother die from prostate cancer and she lost her baby brother in Hurricane Katrina. It is hard to see them go thru that, especially when we are older and understand better. Many prayers you and your mom's way! (((KC)))

Thanks, All - I just got off the phone with my mom and she is doing better than I thought, but she admitted that she has been crying all day. Aunt Dot has in-home hospice care and mom said that when the youngest sister called her earlier today, that she was sitting up and drinking some coffee. She has been in and out of the hospital 3 or 4 times this year and has fluid building up in her lungs. I know that my cousin and her daughter were unable to help her so I am thankful for hospice being there. My mom was saying last month that she needed to go take care of Dot and I know she feels strongly about that but she really can't do what needs to be done, if the younger women of the family can't do it. I also told my mom that the TDK'ers were praying for them all and she wanted me to say "Thank You" for her.

Thank you everyone, for your prayers, they are greatly appreciated.
I spoke with my mom this morning and she is back in Orlando now, but very upset with what is happening with my aunt. Apparently, my cousin and her daughter are not wanting help with my aunt, and just want her to die as soon as possible. My cousin has power of attorney and medical care and has told the doctors to quit giving her any meds, and this has devastated my mom. I am getting my info from my mom, who isn't always making much sense because she is so upset, so I don't know everything, but I do know that my cousins son in law (ex? i don't think he is still married to her daughter) has said that if they don't get her back on meds and properly taken care of he will report them for elderly abuse - God Bless him for that! My cousin is bi-polar and her mom has done so much for her and to have her repay her this way angers me, but being 2000 miles away, there isn't much I can do except to pray.Posted 2 years ago by KarenCentennial #

Karen, I am so sorry. I haven't seen this thread until now either. How awful that they are doing that to your aunt. I was power of attorney for everything on my mom and I made sure she was comfortable till her end. How dare they...enough of my anger, I will make sure you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. ((KC))
