Good morning, all! It's another beautiful fall day, and the Cafe staff is rushing about preparing all our favorite warming treats (there's one table of cold specials as well, for those in FL and other steamy environs). Things are shaping up nicely in the cafe, except that the staff keep pausing to chase dust bunnies, or their own tails. I think they would really like some company, so come on in, help yourself and share your day!

Just a quick hello :) We are in panic/countdown mode..next Sunday is Maddie's birthday party so we have to start the housecleaning...especially since it might rain and we have to have 38 people in our tiny house..yeah...that will not be fun...have to run to the store too for last minute gift bag stuff and then later in the week go and pick up the food for the party.
Off to do dishes, start the first of many loads of laundry then off I go...Wayne has to mow the lawn and finish staining the deck...busy day. Hugs to everyone!!!
Those on FB..we have a pic of me and the girls picking pumpkins and a picture of Mapleside farm on the hillPosted 2 years ago by cricketsmama #

Hi CM! I'll check out the pictures soon. I'll bet Maddie is just bursting with excitement. I'll send some pleas to the weather gods for you.
Mike and I had a wonderful dinner last night, specially prepared for us by the chef up at the pub where we met. We started with tuna sashimi on a bed of soba noodles and Japanese seaweed (sounds yuck, tastes awesome). The next course was sea scallops and baby clams in a tomato/fennel broth with chickpeas, then we had grilled shrimp over polenta with sundried tomatoes. And then the point of the whole extravaganza, the duck, which was delicious and not at all like the greasy duck my mom used to make (shhh! don't tell). It was in a cranberry/port wine sauce with winter vegetables and was wonderful. We shared a bottle of pinot noir, and I finished off with apple and cinnamon ice cream and coffee.
Oof! Needless to say, I should be at the gym right now :)

Morning friends, stuffy, migraine girl here.....Hope that everyone is doing just fine this morning. My daughter is here and we are just starting the day or morning. Question on how does one go about putting a picture up on Lolcats 'n Funny Pictures of Cats?

Good freezing morning to y'all! Its 25F this morning and there is frost on the pumpkins! I am baking Christmas Cookies today! Yes that's right! We are having an open house at work and we always sell homade cookies. Tomorrow is taste testing day. Mine have never been picked. I am making Oatmeal Cranberry White Chocolate Chunk Cookies! It has been a process. I went to start and the mixer blew on me. Off to Walmart for a new one. Back, got started and I had baking powder NOT baking soda. Back to Walmart! UGH! Now they are done and baking, can't wait to try one! Or two! Give me hot cocoa with marshmallows, pancakes with syrup and some fruit. A nice little kitty for Betty to play with would be nice too, she needs to leave Wilma alone!

Wow, MC, that is early to start the Christmas cookies!
CM, when I tried to get on FB 5 minutes ago, I couldn't :( I'm trying again in a bit and then hopefully I can see your pictures.I stayed at the dog-sitting house last night and did a bunch of laundry - I'm trying to wash everything I have, including towels and such - I'll never get everything done!
This morning I packed up my things from the dog-sitting house and stopped at PetsMart for kitty food. I'm home now and ought to start sorting through my stuff and throw out a bunch of things, but I don't feel like it.
GG said yesterday that I can come use his washing machine today but I'm worried my car is going to overheat and it's a 20-25 minute drive to his house. I think I'll take it in to the mechanic tomorrw to have him check everything - I so didn't need this now :(Bobby and Mi send greetings - they're happy campers. I was out of wet food last night, so they got tuna. I just fed them the rest of the can now so they're happy.
Hope everyone's having a great Sunday!

Mornin' everyone! It's nice and chilly in the Fort Worth area this morning so I might run to the store and get the fixins for some chili or Pasta e Fagioli soup. Yummo! I might take some to my neighbors---she cried last night when I told her I'm moving. She told me, "You're one of my girls!" Then, watched Marley & Me and sobbed like a big baby. My eyes are sore this morning! Who has the hot chocolate? ;)

Hi GD, sounds like your luck isn't good right now! Hope the boys take good care of you today, you need it. I bet they LOVED the tuna. YUM! I had to seperate the girls again, they were just tearing into each other and it wasn't pretty! The cookies turned out great, had to sample one! CM, there are no pumpkin pix on FB!

FH, you're moving? You can't move away from nive neighbors like that! Soup and chili sounds nice. I wish it were cool here.
MC, at least I'm lucky to have GG so I'll take it. I really don't know what to do about my living situation. I don't want to bring in new furniture because I think the bugs will just move right in. I also can't keep living here and sleeping in a chair and throwing out my clothes and linens a few times a week. It would be easier if at least I had a washer and dryer here. Arrrrgh!
And now chances are Auntie Ellen is going o quit tennis an I'll lose my partner. I'm debating quitting - it's a lot of money if I can't play with her and have fun. At least I haven't paid yet, so I have that option. Whether I stay or quit will probaly depend on if/when I get the check from the old/new job and for how much.CM, I just got o FB too and I don't see pics :(

Hi Kilroy! How is Georgie today?

Thanks, Kilroy. I hope it sorts itself out soon. It's nice that GG says I can stay at his place, but if the car is going to be giving me trouble now, I can't keep driving back and forth like that.
I played tennis with XBF yesterday and he told me he thinks the money from the deal I set up at the old/new job will be in on Monday and then the boss there will write me a check right away. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! -
George is good, thanks MC. He had fun with his Turbo Chaser earlier (I swear, he can still smell dead mouse on it from months ago), then he squashed himself into his cardboard box and took a nap. Then Daddy came home from tennis, so George had to run around for a while. Now he's asleep again. Ah, for the life of a cat :)
PS: I just noticed that I left out a word in my earlier post about our dinner last night; I had apple *tart* with cinnamon ice cream for dessert. Sheesh, I thought I proofread pretty carefully.

Oh GD, I pray things work for you adn you get the check tomorrow! Kilroy how is your head? Mine is killing me in this cold weather!

GD---I should be moving in (hopefully) March. It's not too far away from where I am now, plus I'll be able to stop by and see my neighbor any day after school. They have been awesome neighbors and the husband is now struggling with dimentia. She's pretty much homebound with him so I run a lot of errands for her or just ask her if she needs anything from the grocery store. The last time she ran to the pharmacy, he decided to take a bath and then screamed until she got home because he couldn't get himself out.
I can't imagine you not playing tennis, GD!
Kilroy---that meal sounds amazing!! I had a Stouffer's Lasagna Bake for dinner last night and I thought that was high falootin'! ;)

Hi, GD, MC, CM, Kilroy, Deb, Pika and FH!
It is a clear, crisp Fall day here in Eugene. I love this time of year! I wonder if we will get another sighting of the buck deer that wandered into our yard yesterday.
Deb, I hope your headache eases soon so you can enjoy your visit with your daughter. You were asking earlier about how to upload a photo to the cheezeburger website. I think there are instructions under LOLbuilder on the site.
What's up with no new kitten on the main page for the past two days??? I'm still seeing Friday's kitten. Hope all is well with Kitten Master.
Kilroy, what a fantastic meal you and your hubby had last night. :)
Why are you moving, FH?

Oh, KW, your description of Eugene could be the description for Ft. Worth today! It seems rare that we actually have Fall weather here---it's usually really hot or really cold. We rarely have 'open window weather' around here. Not that it would matter to me, anyway, since my one not-smart kitty dives through screens (and rips them) when birds fly by--even sillier is when this cat does the same thing and the windows are closed! Guess which one? ;)

Hi, Everyone!!!! Wow - it is 44 degrees here in not-so-sunny West Texas today! And you know what that means - it's a perfect day for quilting!!!!
But before I go upstairs, could I have some hot chocolate and some of your cookies, MC? They sound soooo good!
What's everyone got on tap for today?

Ohhhhhhhh, caramel apple crumble sounds heavenly and I'm not usually a sweet lover. I've had some Ottis Spudmeyer (?) cookie dough in my freezer since last Feb. and I finally cooked three of them last night. White choc. macadamia---they were good at 3:00 this morning when I had a sweet-tooth!

I'm getting hungry hearing about all these fantastic meals! I'm going to brunch in an hour with my daughter and a law student I'm mentoring. They are about the same age.

Hi, WWM! Quilting sounds like a great idea on a cool Fall day. :)

Morning, WMM! Don't you love this weather?

I was going to make chicken marsala for dinner but Mr. WWM said he wants steak. It's not a very good day for grilling, but seeing as how he's the one who has to go out to the grill, I guess I'll leave it up to him.
My little baby turtles are dug into the dirt in their aquarium. It's not a fit day for a turtle outside today!

Maybe your baby turtles could use a little quilt for the Winter, WWM. ;)

Oh what an afternoon!!! Had Mum here for a couple of hours (Harry deigned to actually stay in the room this time, lol) - for some reason she'd got a bee in her bonnet about when she had her pulmonary embolism and flatly wouldn't believe me when I told her 2005...had to dig out my old diaries to prove the case...good grief!!!
FH, I have to tell you, cow pat peanut butter chocolates are YUM!!!
