You may be younger, or much older, than you think!
This one is absolutely amazing! This'll either scare you or elate you.
If you answer truthfully it is a cool tool. (keep it honest!!!)

That is a cool website, WWM. Really makes you think about how much lifestyle and diet can impact longevity!

Interesting - I'm virtually 4.5 years younger and likely to live 4.5 years longer than average. I found the stress questions particularly intersting as I did something similar a few years ago when Mum was still living in her flat, and the results were VERY different!!

Good grief, thought I was going to be reborn in my virtual age. According to this I'll live to 92.9 years of age and that takes into account any illnesses I have. I must be doing something right. . . finally. Very interesting questions and consequences.

I'm supposed to be 20+ years younger than I actually am but I sure as heck don't look that much younger sadly.

Woohoo WWM, you'll be tearing down country roads on your mobility scooter like a bat out of he**. I can see you whooping and hollering and expounding on a low salt diet and how it got you there.

Well, that sure was depressing (thus making me even OLDER!). I am almost four years older than my actual age and will live to 71.4. That's ok, I don't think I want to be around much longer than that anyways. My health and my family's health certainly drug down my numbers big time. Ho hum!

Haha MS! It probably won't carry across the Pacific... but will probablly be in use if I really do make it that far! Of course, by then New Orleans could be underwater permanently!

Order the submarine mobility scooter. Do many old folk use mobility scooters in the US. It seems every second old person here has one and they get out and about all the time. Really gives them lots of freedom.

Don't see many in New Orleans, but our sidewalks are so bad they would probably cause more injuries than they prevent... They certainly advertise them a lot!

I am 37.1 with a life expectancy of 75.9 according to the calendar, even though I just turned 38 back in August. I'd be younger with a longer life if I lost weight, got regular health checkups, got rid of my anxiety, -- and, oh yeah, were white or Asian. I can't control being black, but I can at least control the other factors.

LOL..... 20 years from now, MS, WWM, AV, and NC are in a "scooter" marathon... LOl!!!
MC, Vicki, the rest of you guys, we're going to "support" you into shape!.....what can we do to help?... Leeny started the get healthy thread!.... I hope we all commit to that!....Huggs for those that need it most!

Well AV, there are things I can't control like family history of heart disease, diabetes, and others. My various and assorted surgeries don't help as well as all the drugs I am on. I think the fact that I am slowly coming off the meds will help tremendously! Thanks for the support. Think I should start up the healthy lifestyle link tomorrow as Leeny is out right now with her dad! Great inspiration!

*fires up the scooter and challenges all comers to a race*
Y'all, seriously.... this type of test just shows as a small example what we all need to do to be healthier and change our lifestyles. Sometimes it seems hard, but all it takes is guts!

the whole thing is basically a way for you to see what behaviors you can change... if you drive long distances and don't wear a seatbelt, your risk of death from a car accident is higher. The biggies are things like BP, smoking, excessive alcohol, high fat/calorie diet, and getting any problems diagnosed EARLY... Survival for Breast CA is waaaaay better if you catch it early! The family history stuff didn't really make that much impact, but race (in the US at least) is often a proxy for access to health care, and other socio-cultural risk factors for early mortality. A moderate lifestyle is the key. And BTW, dark chocolate is good for you, as is red wine!

According to this I am 33.6 and will live to be 81.4. As some of you know, earlier this year I had what MCW so charmingly calls "the F-word birthday", so that's how old I really am.
There are definitely some things I can improve on, and I'm working on them. I have an appt this week for my first physical in (mumble, mumble) years. I'm signing up for swimming lessons so I can be better at it and do it more often, because I enjoy swimming more than torturing myself on excercise machines. I threw away my cafeteria debit card so I can't just run up to our "everything you could ever imagine you wanted" company cafeteria and grab somthing junky because I'm stressed out or want to get away from my desk. I have a family history of heart disease and diabetes (my dad and his brother were the first men in their family to live past 50, but then again, his mother lived to 99). And, oh yeah, I have a serious medical condtion that could go wrong at any point and render all the rest of this stuff a moot point :(
Sorry to run on so long...

Intresting...Virtually Im 7 and Ill live to be 89

I was actually afraid to take this at first. I'm not sure about the accuracy. I was completely honest w/it. It put me at 5 yrs.younger than I am (I feel 20 yrs.older)...Then it slaps me w/only living to 81.7 yrs. I feel kinda robbed since my cholesterol (last checked was 189) & my BP has almost always been perfect. I did see a spike in the age when answering the stress questions. who would think...me stressed? :)
I did frown when I was penalized for only completely a high school diploma & nothing further.
-
The education level kind of surprised me too. I don't know why that would make a difference. It's interesting to play around a bit to see how much little things - like more exercise and better diet - can help. I think smoking is a big one, my numbers improved quite a bit there because I never smoke.
