I just adopted a kitten yesterday she is 8 weeks old. She came from a home where they would let her mother outside and cam from a litter of 6. There was also 2 additional adult cats at the home that were allowed outside. Today I was petting her and I noticed about 3 fleas on her chin, and later I lifted up her tail and saw some more running along her tail. I'm going to get a flea comb tomorrow but I want to know is there anything else I can do to stop the fleas? She I use Frontline yet? I wasn't going to take her to the vet until she was 12 weeks.I have seen that frontline site says I can use it on kittens 8 weeks and older, I'm still alittle scared to use it. I have also seen that people gave their kitten a bath using Dawn dishsoap, isn't 8 weeks alittle early to give them a bath when they're so small they might catch a cold. Any advice?

I'm sort of in the same boat, so I know how upsetting it can be to have such a small/young kitten with so many limitations on how you can solve the problem.
Don't be worried about them catching a cold as long as you dry them off and keep them warm; when I gave one of my kittens a bath (she's just 5 weeks), I made sure she was dry and held her for a bit to warm her. So I think giving her a bath should work fine, especially being 8 weeks old. The only flea-treatment I've looked at was Revolution, and that said it was good for Kittens 6 weeks and older, so maybe try looking there first if the 8 weeks+ of Frontline worries you (or call a local vet and ask for an opinion). Hope your kitty loses the fleas asap. -

My vet gave me Revolution for Patches at 6 weeks old. It is important to get rid of the fleas, they can debilitate a kitten quickly. Keep her isolated in a room without carpet (the fleas will hide in it) for a few days after.
