"No one wants to see curvy women," he was quoted as saying on the website of news magazine Focus". "You've got fat mothers with their bags of chips sitting in front of the television and saying that thin models are ugly."
Karl Lagerfeld is a talented man when it comes to fashion, but he is off his rocker saying stuff like this !! No one wants to see curvy women !! Come on put done the crack pipe mr.
I hope in his next life that he is fat and see things from a different point of view ...here fatty have some chips Karl

Karl Lagerfeld could use a few good meals of wienerschnitzel, spaetzle, and hassenpfeffer himself, so he won't look like sauerkraut. If no one wanted to see curvy women, wouldn't men over thousands of years have chosen naturally skinny women as their wives/mothers of their children, rather than women who look like they can endure nine months of pregnancy and eighteen years of direct childrearing per child (curvy women)? Observe the Venus of Willendorf -- she had mad curves, symbolizing fertility.

Hmmm, didn't Karl Lagerfeld become famous by designing outfits for Madonna? She is definately a curvy woman. Not big, but curvy. In my opinion, designers who only make outfits for stick-women are simply designers who don't have the talent to create outfits for curvy figures. Most women are not shaped like clothes hangers.

Heidi Klum Samuel (Mrs. Seal) is 5'9", 130 pounds, and has four children. Tyra Banks is 5'10" and the last time her weight was discussed she was 160 pounds (women of African descent have denser bones than women of European or Asian descent, so her bone weight may be heavier than it would be were she white or Asian). Karl Lagerfeld would probably exclude both women from his runway shows nowadays (also factoring in that both women are in their mid-thirties in an industry that wants new employees to be teenagers).

Well, you also have to take into account that his preferred body type in general is less curvaceous due to the higher testosterone levels dictating the secondary characteristics.
Lots of male fashion designers have the same personal bias.

Siobhan: Karl Lagerfeld should wear a cream pie in his pie-hole. In fact, make it two or three.It's folks like him that encourage young girls to anorexia. I grew up heavy, I'll always be heavy. Hearing my dad say things like "You'd be so pretty if you lost weight" are demoralizing. Never anything supportive about already BEING pretty. Took me decades to overcome the desire to please my dad. And at 81, he still makes cracks about my size whenever we get together. Last time I mentioned very sweetly "You know, Dad, Slim-Fast isn't supposed to be taken with jelly donuts" :-) (He sometimes does that combo for breakfast)

Only a man would spout such drivel about women. Karl you need to understand that not all women have the bone structure of models. Your models are empty shells that I do not see as beautiful but as sickly images of what the fashion world thinks women should look like. Well, not all women can be a size 2. We come in all different shapes and sizes and that is what makes each person unique. You are just spouting drivel to get attention for your clothes. They must not be selling very well if you need to get attention or maybe it is in your shallow little world you need attention in order to feel good about yourself.

KL is gay. He finds models with silhouettes that more closely resemble adolescent males to be more attractive than models that have the silhouette of a mature woman. He is not alone in this in the fashion industry.
Clothing designed to attract the heterosexual male is only found in the lingerie department.
As long as women buy the mags and the rags produced this way, the trend will continue.

The man's an idiot. Unfortunately a well known idiot who some people will listen to. We really need the fashion world to come together on this, models are still dangerously thin and posing an extremely unhealthy body image to young impressionable girls.

Ailuro has it right on--he is only attracted to those that resemble boys. I once read the designers don't want any curves in a woman's body to detract from the clothes they are showing. If I were able to afford his clothes I would be boycotting him.
