  1. That's helpful to know Molly, actually explains things a bit more. I can't take ibuprofen, but am surely on enough other pain meds that should be making a difference, but aren't!! I'm going to go to bed before long and jam a hot water bottle in my back, see how I feel in the morning. I'm also going to drop Boss a heads up email that I might be late tomorrow if I'm moving slowly, or possibly even working from home...I do have some work with me, and they can email me stuff too.

  2. PS virtual hugs are fine Kilroy, real ones would probably hurt too much!!

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  3. Kilroy GET YOUR MRI'S! It will hurt more if you don't do it! I hate the contrast dye too. I like that our hospital keeps the day appointments open for the trauma patients and inpatients. Outpatients like myself can schedule M-F 8pm -12am. That way I am done with work and it is less crazy/crowded. I love that part!

  4. *small voice* OK, Mom. :)

I will schedule all this stuff, I promise, but between now and the end of the year is completely ridiculous, schedule-wise.

  5. Mr MCW is making me a yummy hot chocolate :o)

Posted 2 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  6. Oh, MCW - that sounds yummy ! Try an epsom salt bath... epsom salts help to pull the toxins from your body :)

  7. Yay for Mr. MCW! He's a keeper (but then, you already know that :P )

Posted 2 years ago by Kilroy #

  8. Betty and I are having a cup of tea! YUM! The hot cocoa sounds delish too!

  9. Sorry I just saw your posting, 2Popoki. Yes, goals...I didn't think they were going to have me set any since I am ignored most of the time here in my group. Manager prioritizes others over me so I didn't think it mattered. Yes, my goals are to keep my job till I find a better one where they pay me better, include me in all that effects me, where they don't feel it is necessary to inform me that I make too much money when the amount I make barely covers my living costs, bills and car expenses and the person informing me makes four times what I make and last but definitely not last where I am considered a valuable asset to the person or team I support. Now stuff that in your pipe and smoke it!!

WWM, you are hilarious about GD's "bug collection. I let out a big chuckle here at work and hopefully startled the guy in the next cubicle out of smaking, slurping and loudly eating his lunch. I heard him choking at one point but he stopped before I could get my earphones out of my ears to ask if he was okay (I listen to my iphone since I cannot tolerate his noisy eating).

Since it is still raining here today, a lot of people brought their lunches in to work. There was a queue for the "nuke" machine. Some people were just down right rude about it. It is only 2:11pm and I am so wanting to be home with my cats.

  10. Bed. Drugs. Hot water bottle. G'night TDK!

  11. night mcw!

  12. Night MCW. I hope you feel better soon.

SMM the big thing to remember about goals is to make them measurable/quantifiable. Right now my goal is to get the heck out of dodge by 5:15 so I can go to the chiropractor. Emma tripped me yesterday when I was carrying a heavy box and I went down hard. Knees are bruised and back hurts. I still had to finish my cooking and play caterer for a special event so that has not helped. Hoping a good adjustment, some aleve and a lot of water will help.

Kilroy, get those tests done! I'll make you a deal. I'll get my mammogram done before the end of the year if you get yours! I will call once I am back from my cruise and schedule all three of my yearly appointments. Mammo, gyno and BP.

I hope everyone has a great night tonight!

  13. Frustration is creeping in. It's my day to cover reception for the lunch hour. Receptionist said she might be a bit late. Hmmm... I have now been 'on duty' for one hour and 35 minutes. It's 2:36 pm and I have not had my lunch yet. Wah wah.... trying to be patient and non-judgemental. I know she had to do an airport run... but still. ARGH ! By the time I get to go to lunch, it won't be worth my while to come back.

  14. Looks like many (okay, most) of us are falling apart at the seams, be it emotionally or physically. What do people who are whole and healthy and normal discuss?

Posted 2 years ago by Vicki #

  15. Oh, I missed questions and waves! Sorry - I had to disappear for a while.

MC, the baby turtles seem to be fine but I can't get them to eat. I've given them melon, strawberries and hamburger and a bug. The bug seems to be the only thing missing. Yesterday it was bright and sunny here so we put their aquarium out in the sunshine. They seemed to like that.

Excellent idea on the Epsom salt bath, 2P!

  16. Hopefully the bug wasn't able to crawl out or fly away. Eat baby turtle, eat! Nom nom nom on that melon.

Kykat, I was only joking..those goals are life goals. Goals for work are a different sort of course. Mostly utilized more by the group, help the manager more on her projects, more involved in our retail loyalty site, as well as the goal to change my title to something more like Sr. Dept Administrator instead of Dept Assistant which sounds more entry level and with my years of experience I am anything but entry level.

If I go to the break room, I can look out the window and see flitting clouds, blue sky and sun. Temps are around 72 degrees with humidity of 65% and a little windy too.

  17. Hi all!.... back from a long, but fullfilling day at work.... I must admit, I like my job - I like it that my office is drawing together and becoming a team again.... I truly like the people I work with, and now with a new boss that "will go to bat for them", the entire atmosphere has turned around.... people are participating in things, they come to the office more often and stay, and you hear laughter in the halls.... it's a good feeling....

..... poor Hubbs!.... he went to the doctor today, and confirmed that he caught the swine flu from his Mom on Sat. He picked her up at the air port, and kissed her.... he started feeling bad the day after that, and yesturday had a terrible cold. I told him to go get checked, and yep - he's got it!.....she caught it the last day of her cruise, and was miserable when he picked her up...... luckily (all paws, toes, finger, and other body parts crossed) I haven't felt any symptoms - the last two days, he's been so busy, I have barely seen him (lucky for me)...... he's had to be at work at 6am since Monday, so he was going to bed really early.....and getting up way before I opened my eyes!...... Now that we know what he has, we've quarenteened (sp?) him in another bedroom, have bathed him in lysol, and changed/washed/wiped down all other parts of the house that I live in......only nurse "Cuddles" will venture in his room for a pet......LOL... poor guy!

  18. AV, so proud of you that you are doing so well at work and the team loves you! YAY! Sorry about hubbs! Wow, that stinks! I hope he gets well soon and you keep an eye on yourself too, don't need both of you sick. Lucky hubbs has nurse Cuddles!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  19. Hi all! MC - did you have that lemon donut? AV - glad your work is going well. Sorry to hear about hubby and the swine flu. Is Nurse Cuddles a nice nurse?

Posted 2 years ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

  20. Thanks MC, I am vigilant about germs, so if I must wear a gas mask to kiss my husband good night, so be it!...... funny in our household, I'm usually always the one that NEVER gets sick.... actually, none of us really ever get sick - when I had that allergic reaction to the antibotic in 2005 and it put me in the hospital, it was because I'd never had an antibotic before..... so how would I know I was allergic?..... my kids have never had antibotics - we suffered with minor colds, etc. but never needed an antibotic...... even Hubbs has only had the "pink" stuff one or two times in his entire life!..... we just come from "hearty stock"!......

Vicki, I had to laugh at your reminding me of "college" laundries!.... I think back now, and you're absolutely right!.......and like I said this morning, it's a great "excuse" for me to see my baby!!!

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  21. KK, I went to two different stores, a Dunkin Donuts by work and the grocery store and NO lemon donuts. I have to admit I was very disappointed. I think I deserved it because FF has been a poop for a few days and we had sleet outside today!

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  22. LOL KK!..... "nurse Cuddles"..... is like "nurse Ratchet"...... she "commands" her patients, and then "hisses" at them if they disobey her slightest order!... LOL...... Hubbs is in jail!

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  23. AV, all the research says (honest) to gargle with salt water twice a day. Blow your nose really hard once each day and then swap your nostrils with salt water. The swine flu bug can only enter through the nose or mouth. The salt creates such an acidic environment that the bug can't live.

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  24. WWM, my MIL, (who started this whole mess ) sent me a website that said the exact same thing!... I am a firm believer in the salt water gargle, and have implemented the nose swab since I read her article!..... it's like something my grandma would say ..... the one that used to make me cold medicine as a kid that consisted of lemon juice, honey, and a shot of whiskey!......

Posted 2 years ago by AV #

  25. Another salt water gargler, I asked my Doctor if rinsing my mouth with warm salty water would help with my ulcerated tongue and she blinked and said yes, yes ,yes. I think she was stunned I wasn't yet another patient demanding antibiotics. All the waiting rooms have large posters spelling out just what antibiotics are for and that they are no use against virus's, but people still want something to take.
Hope Nurse Cuddles(Ratchet) lets hubby have some time in the exercise yard.
