   It won't hurt for you to register your number, but it's not necessary

   Another good site for checking out any sort of mass e-mail/Internet rumor is http://www.snopes.com Sometimes bogus e-mails even say "It's true! I checked it out on Snopes!", but that's usually a dead giveaway that they're bogus.

   I usually use snopes, too, but the last time they updated this legend wasn't as recent as at the urban legend site. . . :)
