  1. I have two 3 and half month old kittens. Gala and Fuji, The are sisters. I haven't gotten their shots yet I was going to wait til 6 months. They are indoor cats. I have had a flea problem with them for a month now, I've washed them and sprayed my house, using all necessary precautions because they are so small. the fleas are still here and I just ordered frontline so that should get cleared up. But Fuji has been acting weird the past two days then I noticed a clear liquid on the ground. I cleaned it up, no worms or anything... just like spit kind of. So i thought maybe throw up. I looked at Fuji's bum and the mucus is coming from there, spontaneously. I watched her as she tried to poop and only this spit like substance came out, maybe only a teaspoon worth. But she was definitely trying to go number two because her legs were shaking and she was kind of sitting up in the litter box. That was last night and now Gala seems to have a little bit of this same stuff under her tail. But Gala is acting normal and fun loving. Fuji who has had the symptoms longer is lethargic and keeps trying to find warm places. I saw Gala eat tonight but Fuji only took a little water. They haven't eaten as much as normal and I have had them on the same food for about 3 weeks now. I have work all day tomorrow and am afraid I may not get to the vet til Friday or even Monday. If anyone has any info that could help it's much appreciated.

  2. Applebox, I;m afraid none of us are vets and it sounds to me like you need one. I realise you have work but kittens are very fragile and not eating, seeking warmth and especially the being lethargic are not good signs. I think you may need to take time off work and I DEFINITELY wouldn't leave it till Monday, that is a very long time if Fuji is sick. It could be that she is just a little constipated but the fact that you think Gala is showing the same symptoms is worrying.

I am wondering what you sprayed the house with and whether it's possible that either of them could have ingested any of it through washing themselves etc. I also think if Fuji is looking for warmth, you should make sure she gets it, young and sick kittens are unable to regulate their own body temp very well. A box with a heating pad in it or a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel would be a good idea, with room to crawl off it if she gets too hot. Try to get her to take some fluids, you may have to give her pedialyte from a syringe. Karo corn syrup may give her a little energy. But the best thing is the vet, as soon as possible.

  3. I'm sorry to hear the kitties aren't well applebox. Absolutely...you should get to the vet...the sooner the better. I worry so much with toxicity of flea killing chemicals which is why I use diatomaceous earth which is available at the local nurseries. You can use it directly on the kittens and sprinkle it into your carpets as well. Sending prayers that Fuji and Gala get well soon. Oh..and welcome to TDK..Sorry it's under such duress. Please keep us posted as to their progress...we'd love to see pics as well!! =)

  4. Warm welcome and wishes for a quick flea free environment. Ditto Karenopa that Diatomaceous earth does work well & in non-toxic. But do visit the vet very soon!

  6. warm welcome indeed! is there an emergency place or perhaps even a shelter who will look at them for you faster? some places might do that without claiming your animal!
