  1. Amy how scary!! I am so sorry :( I can't believe they let you out either. Please take it really easy and let Betty and Wilma take good care of you. *hugs* I will be thinking of you. Sending so much love your way. You are so strong.

If I were you I would call the ER or a doctor back up again and tell them about the headache and fluid build up overnight. I think it is important to keep an eye on it just in case. Hug hug hug hug

  2. {{{Amy}}} you are in my prayers, I am so glad you went to the ER. I agree with Gini, please let the ER know what is going on with you. Betty and Wilma are being good nurses and keeping your spirits up. I hope you get relief from your headache and have a quiet weekend with no more scary incidents. Many hugs to you my friend....

  3. MC...I don't know what to say. You been thru so much. It makes my daily troubles look so trivial. I admire your strength & ability to look at these current curves you've been dealt with grace & humor. I feel so blessed & privelaged to know you.

  4. Went to "wash" my head when I realized my blob of fluid has filled back up again. I am preparing for another blowout yet this weekend. I gently patted the area, not really cleaning it cause I don't want to tear the scabs off. I then discovered my water heater pilot light had gone out. Only COLD water. Landlord can't relight it, the gas company has to do it. (Please don't ask me why!?). They can come next Sunday. Great, just great.

  5. Next Sunday???? A week is ridiculous to wait for that!
Add my prayers to all the others, Amy. This year just can't end soon enough for you, I think.

  6. The lady at the gas company said I wasn't a priority. Whatever that means.

  7. I'm so glad you went to the ER instead of waiting for the doctor to call. I suspect they didn't keep you in the hospital because the chance of getting an infection tends to be great there then it would be at home.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back the the ER if you start leaking again. With the slightest bit of luck the same ER doctor will be there. He seems to be really on the ball. Too bad most ER doctors don't have regular practices.

So far as the hot water goes, the landlord has an obligation to provide hot water. Call the gas company back and ask them if a professional (like a licensed plumber) can light the pilot. If so, tell your landlord to either call said professional or that you will and he can pay for it.

  8. hmm, tell her you smell gas, that ought to help you be a priority. How ridiculous that they expect you to wait a week.

  9. hmmm do FireFighters know how to light a gas heater pilot light?

  10. Sending hugs and prayers your way. I hope that this gets resolved as painlessly as possible so that you can continue healing and get on with your life.

I also hope they can get your water heater pilot lit soon too. I can't believe they are making you wait so long.

  11. Yee Gods Molly, it's just as well you're on the ball! - I don't think the problem lies so much with your neurosurgeon as maybe with his staff not assessing the urgency of the message. I would certainly address this concern with him when you can...in the meantime I agree with that lot up there ^ ^ ^ and update ER with your overnight symptons. {{{hugs}}}

  12. All white light and positive loving energy coming your way, MC (gentle hugs)

  13. MC, just caught up with your news. So glad the ER was able to see you and treat you well. Now you rest up with those kitties. Hope you can get the gas heater turned on sooner. Sending healing energy.

  14. MC, re your your water heater and the gas company ~ just give them a call and say those "three little words" ~ "I smell gas"..... guarantee they will be there within hours to take care of relighting the pilot light on your water heater!

  15. MC... I am so grateful that you went to the ER!!!! That gas company..... hisssss....I think that I need to call them and tell them that you need it re-lit because your health depends on it...... Please take care of yourself..... 17. i'm praying you hold together till Monday...and beyond !!!

  18. Thanks all! My wound on the back of my head really hurts back there. I wish I could see it so I know what is going on. I tried to take a picture of it but that didn't work either. I have limited range of motion since my surgery so I can't twist all around. My head isn't all painful headache wise today, so far so good. I slept a few hours straight last night and the girls BOTH snuggled with me. Mind you they had to be on opposites of me but I was a kitty sandwich!

  19. MC do you have a handheld mirror at all anywhere? Maybe one that's used to put on some kind of make up? If so, you should go to the mirror in your bathroom and put your back to it and then hold the small mirror up in front of your face and angle it so you can see the back of your head in the big mirror. That way you won't have to strain your head/neck to try to see. I really hope you start to feel better soon ( I'm glad the girls were both snuggling with you! Are they fighting less now that they have been back together for awhile?

Posted 2 years ago by gini #

  20. Have tried that Gini, I still can't see it. My head doesn't allow me the ability to turn it just a little to see it. I was bummed by that. The girls can at least be in the same room as me. Last night I was watching a movie on the couch. Betty was sleeping on my knees and Wilma was laying alongside my chest and tummy. There was initial hissing and then they both gave up and fell asleep. :)

    Posted 2 years ago by mollycat71 #

  21. I'm sorry that doesn't work :( but yay; I'm glad to hear that Betty and Wilma are starting to come around! That's great that the hissing didn't last too long and they can get pretty close now

Posted 2 years ago by gini #

  22. Call the hospital or the surgeon. You need to get back to the emergency room. And get someone to get you there or call an ambulance.

I am officially scared to death for you, and the turbo novena is starting up now.

And keep us all in the loop.

    Love,
    Emma

PS: My thughts about your surgeon are rather hostile right now.

Posted 2 years ago by Emma #

  23. Yep I agree with Emma completely. You need to be in the hospital on heavy duty antibiotics and antifungals, having your vital signs monitored while they keep track of your CSF leak. [[[[[Amy]]]]] I know you're scared and tired of being in the hospital but get this taken care of and hopefully you'll be done for a long while.[[[[[More hugs]]]]]]

Posted 2 years ago by Buttercup #

  24. I know that you hate the thought of being in the hospital, MC. But I must admit, it is a total mystery to me why you weren't directly admitted when you went to the ER on Friday. It would have seemed the "reasonable and prudent" (terms insurance companies love) thing to do so that you could be put on the big gun med's.

    And even more hugs!

  25. BUMP

(Do we need to do a rescue? WWM? Ride shotgun with me? 2BP? Buttercup? Puddy? GR?)

Posted 2 years ago by Emma #

  26. should we just go and kidnap MC ??? tie her up with duct tape too ??? let FF drive ???

Posted 2 years ago by CSBM #

  27. I'm game!
I hope MC is going straight into the Dr's office Monday to be seen, evaluated and treated.

Posted 2 years ago by Buttercup #

  28. Emma, I am always ready to ride shotgun with you. And if ever we were needed, I think that now is the time!

Posted 2 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  29. You are in my prayers Amy. Your surgeon had better see you tomorrow and the heat and hot water better be turned back on! You are in a fragile physical state and you need heat and hot water.{{{{{Amy,Betty & Wilma}}}}}

Posted 2 years ago by krazikat #

  30. Amy, at first I thought maybe home was prudent because you would be away from hospital infections, but what is going on does not sound good. It is time to get this treated aggressively. If in the hospital, they can do isolation measures. When Victor was in, everyone had to wear masks and use Purell before coming into the room, then wash hands with soap and hot water before leaving. It can be done. I am so worried about you. And yes, you cannot be without heat and hot water-tell them it is a medical requirement and if they don't want a lawsuit they better get their buns out then and fix the pilot light!
    Wack-bonk stick at the ready....
