TDK Roller Rink Diwali festival

(11 posts)
  1. Today marks the holiday of Diwali, a festival of lights observance popular in many nations in South Asia and among Sikhs, Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists. If anyone who happens to observe one of those faiths is out there, I hope that celebrating Diwali in a primarily Christian nation is not seen as sacrilege in your faith; I just hope that a celebration in the roller rink would bring light into what had been an otherwise dark week. In any case, I have all the disco lights working, there will be a laser light show (*shriek!* Lasers and cats!), and all the roller skates have lit wheels and LED-studded boot covers. There will be a mendhi booth, a donation box to feed homeless pets, a rangoli table (rangoli being sand painting), and sweet and savory vegetarian and nonvegetarian treats at the snack bar. Each kitty will also get a light stick at the door.

  2. Hi Vicki! Diwali is quite a big event in this part of England, as we have a pretty high asian population. The lights are so pretty!

  3. Leela would to come to the rink and learn about Diwali and see all the pretty lights. She is going thru the closet to look for something special to wear and I've got some fresh crab cake snacks to send with her to share, and some vibrantly colored wildflowers. Let's enjoy the evening!

  4. If Leela's got a sari, she won't be sorry. *dodges alley apples (rocks) thrown in this general direction*

  5. Hehe Vicki! She's pulled out this gauzy material dress from my closet. It's a burnt dark orange sleeveless dress with lots of ruffles and layers. There's a belt of the same material in a light copper color - very much the same color as Leela's eyes.

  6. Leela came home in the wee hours chattering away! She had a blast at the rink. Many agency kitties and their families attended. She was sorry more of her friends were not there but mama explained that TDK kitties are often spending time with their families on the weekends. Leela learned about Diwali and got to know the agency kitties. They are so much fun and made Leela feel welcome. The kits went wild during the laser show!

  8. How did I miss this? Betty and Wilma put on their prettiest skate outfits for Dawali and scamper off to the skating rink hoping they didn't miss a party with their TDK friends!
